Just starting us off while I sit here with my coffee, wondering where this day will take me.
Hoping it stays dry and we can work outside. No thoughts yet as to what will be cooking here!
Have a super Saturday 😉

Good morning! Thanks for starting us off, Tasty. I'm enjoying a cup of coffee as well.
This morning my sister & I are going to a women's event at my church. It's a painting party and a potluck brunch. I told her I would pay for the painting if she would bake something to bring. She told me yesterday she made 3 batches of homemade scones. Looking forward to that!

Just had my coffee too gals. I don't have much planned except to go get my wood log I had made and come back home this afternoon and mow. Looks like the twice a week is taking off from the start here and we have not had our spring rains yet.
Terry took me out for supper last night. We just went to a small town close by and had French Dip sandwiches with fries and salad. I found out where his ex to be wife is so wanted to show him where she is living and working. I talked to one of her Aunts and she told me the whole scoop on her. I am so glad he is getting rid of her. He works too hard to deal w/her. It is a story that no one wants to hear !! I have also told him that when FIL is gone the house and all will be taken down and be farm ground so he needs to look for a place to live.
Elza enjoy your day w/ your sister and your painting class. Sounds like fun day. There have been a lot of painting classes around here too.
Tasty is good you and DH can work outside. I miss those days of being able to be out there. I need to get out and clean out around my rhubarb.
My DSIL passed away yesterday at 2:30. Services will be next Saturday I think. So glad she is not suffering anymore. That was terrible to watch her uncomfortable. They were giving her morphine and she had not ate a thing all week and was just out of it. Feel sorry for the kids but they are glad she is not suffering any more too.
Then my neighbor had surgery first of this week and had a heart attack on operating table. Then she came home and yesterday her DH had to call 911 to get a ambulance to take her to ER and they transferred her to Bergan Mercy hospital in Omaha. I had dinner already for them last night and her son came and told me this yesterday. So I sent the dessert home with him and took the rest to my friends for supper. Laraine works loading seed corn out on the farm so does not have time to cook. So it went to a good home! They used to go to Canada with us when their kids were little.
Everyone have a great day!
Marlene

Good morning. Another beautiful mornung.Louie and I are sitting outside. I will soon be reading.
I have cards this afternoon. No idea what we will do this evening as the swimming pool is being cleaned. I hate when they start on a Friday as no one works weekends. If course another 98 " degree day. I go to the pool at least once a day so I am really going to miss it.
Have a great day. Elaine

Happy Saturday to all. I hope everyone is getting what they are wishing for today. It's sunny and hot outside around here. No rain chances until next Friday.
We just got back from eating lunch and getting some groceries. DH needed a prescription so we went to Walmart. They are also the only store that caries the pork flavored stove top stuffing-the only flavor that I like. I want to use it next week when I cook the Schwan's turkey breast.
Tonight I am going to make a ground beef and potato pot pie. I asked DH for suggestions and he could not think of anything, so I'll make what sounds good to me!
Chris, I saw where Dan is coming home today! Have a nice reunion.
I hope the weather is what you want it to be Tasty.
Elza, enjoy the scones! They sound great. I am thinking of making some for the coffee shop. I just saw a post on facebook that says "I hope your coffee is stronger than your daughter's attitude". I want to print it off and post it at the shop. We are out of ink right now though. I meant to mention that I'm glad you rounded up some good coffee the other morning. DS will be going back to Viet Nam this summer? For how long?
I also saw a post from DH's cousin on facebook. He got a call from his grandson-supposedly- asking for money. John figured out quickly that it was a scam, so he said hang up and I will call you right back. Be careful friends.
Lori, you got some really great buys on groceries this week! Will you get to see DD over Mother's Day?
Marlene I'm sorry for the loss of your DSIL. Glad she is not in pain any longer, though. I'll say a prayer for the family and also your neighbor.
I will have to bake brownies this afternoon for the coffee shop. I got a text from Jack that they are out. They are low on "fat ladies", and also cookies. I have more fat ladies-aka caramel delights- in the fridge, so will take those in this afternoon. I don't want to have to go to the store so I'll see what else I can make with what's on hand. I had a request for the cherry cashew cookies, but will need cherries and cashews for those. Maybe I can do scones!
Have a nice day everyone. Waving to all!

Oh my goodness, the scones were delicious, and now everybody wants my sister's recipes! She made three different kinds: dark chocolate & cherry (my favorite), bacon & cheddar, and asiago & pear. The paintings turned out well too! We had a good time.
Tammy, DS#2 spent time with a grad school friend in Vietnam last year as part of his year abroad. This summer DS#1 is going! One of his good friends in seminary is Vietnamese. Minh will be ordained next month and is returning home to Vietnam to see his family and celebrate his first mass at his home church there. He has been telling DS#1 for the last year, "you are coming to Vietnam with me." Well, DS decided to go ahead and take the opportunity to do it. A group of students from St Meinrad and a Vietnamese priest from Louisville are going, so he will not be traveling alone. DS#1 was in Hanoi, DS#1 will be in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

Afternoon, friends! Oh, what a lovely day this has turned out to be! Started out with rain and thick fog, but now it's gloriously sunny and warm. I did a large grocery shop and the usual Saturday chores. Blanched a mess of green beans, prepped Brussels sprouts for tonight's steak dinner, and made the garlic-Parmesan mashed potatoes. I then pressure cooked a recipe for Kalua pig for later in the week. The "Kitchn" gave directions for the InstaPot, a stove top pressure cooker, a slow cooker and the stove top. I like that site a lot!! I refrigerated the finished stuff to shred and defat the juice. Since I was up at three, I needed a short nap! My cousin sent me a recipe "Crab Toast with Mango Salad". I'm going to make it with cooked shrimp that I have in the freezer. Marlene - Condolences to you on the passing (a blessing) of your DSIL. Elza - Those scones sound delicious; glad you had a good time! Tammy -Scam calls are scary. After we got those two "IRS" calls, I posted on our local police Facebook page. Since then, we get calls that come up on caller ID labeled "Spam?" then the #. I don't know if the police dep't installed something on our phone, but I'm not complaining, for sure!!! I go to our local turkey farm and buy their homemade gravy. I use that on everything that I want to put gravy on...so good! Time to go upstairs and check on mom. Waving! Enjoy the evening!

Good evening friends. It's taken all day to get here, but I finally made it.
Today I spent most of the day in the kitchen cooking while DH was at work. I made a double batch of breakfast boats, Cocoa Krispies and Rice Krispies treats, and ranch dressing.
Took a break to watch my Bolts get beaten by the Boston Bruins--not a very good way to start round 2 of the play-off games. Once that was done I went back into the kitchen and made dinner--chicken club sandwiches.
Tammy, you asked if I would be seeing DD for Mother's Day--I honestly don't know at this point, she hasn't mentioned it one way or another. Yesterday she, DSIL, and some of their friends flew to N.J., returning home tomorrow afternoon. SIL and friends are running in some race. DD is finishing her last paper, due tomorrow, for one of two classes she took on-line this semester. It was tough for her working 50-60+ hours each week and then having to do school work everyday spare moment in between, but she kept pushing. She will have a week, maybe two, off to catch up on some sleep and then the next semester of classes will begin.
Elza, glad you and your DS were able to spend time together today. Sounds as if you had a lovely day.
Marlene, please accept my deeply sympathy on the passing of your DSIL.
Elaine, hope you found something to do this evening since your pool is closed.
Ann, glad you had some good weather today. Sounds like I wasn't alone being busy in the kitchen.
Tasty, thanks for starting us off today. Hope your weather cooperated and you got to spend time outside.
I've been up since 4AM, so my eyes are starting to get heavy (no nap for me). Will go watch a little tv with DH before turning in for the night. Sweet dreams everyone.
Lori

Well, despite the forecast we did work outside most of the day. Supper tonight was soup from the freezer and apple pir and ice cream.
Sorry to read about you SIL, Marlene. No more suffering for her. Our rhubarb is growing nicely - maybe a couple of weeks and we can pick some.
Elza, a fun day by the sound of it and some yummy baking from your sister 😉
Enjoy your lovely weather Elaine.
The coffee shop is keeping you busy baking Tammy 😉
The Kitchn has some great recipes Ann
Another busy day for you too Lori. Sleep well tonight 😉
