Hello again,
If somebody starts another Chat while I'm typing this I'll delete & copy.
We had a nice day up until around 3 PM. Up til then it was sunny & got into the low 60s. Around 3 it clouded over & a damp breeze came up but still not too bad.
I took Chelsea for a walk this morning & spent most of the day working in the yard. Finished my Rose Bed,put Humus/Manure in the island bed but still need to plant in there so no mulch yet. Put much on the bed under the window, compost/manure in the Fairy Rose bed & started weeding out the driveway bed.
I've started pulling some things out of the GH , like my SIL's Hibiscus & my Geraniums. Took the last of my seedlings out there just a little while ago. They haven't been transplanted out of the tray they were started in & they're not going to be. Too small to fool with transplanting so let's see what happens in the GH.
Painted one of my faded pots & I guess that was it for my day.
How was yours?
Oh, I planted some Dwarf Daylilies under my Magnolia. I forgot about that.

It was so nice out today 60 and sunny. No coat just boots and then switched to sandals. I did get the ruts leveled out and when it warms up some more I'll put grass seed on it. Also got brave and put pansy's , snaps, and some oriental lilies out in the cold frame. Tomorrow I may put the rest of the plants out. Seems the low at night is 38 so that's not to bad. I felt really slow at yard work today and when I raked the stones back into the driveway my shoulder started hurting luckily I was almost done. But not as speedy as I was or I'm just out of shape. Hope my energy perks up as time goes by. I also got all the rose bushes trimmed. That's a dangerous job. I think I lost 2 so that's not to bad. Gives me an excuse to buy some more. :) Have a nice evening.

Good evening. Thanks for getting this going, Gayle!
I am going to go to bed tonight a content girl (if things stay the way they are now). DH decided to go to church with me today. I don't know where that came from, but when I asked him if he wanted to go with me I guess he decided he would. He has a lot of trouble getting up and down, kneeling, etc., so he usually just avoids going. Quite a few people were glad to see him and let him know it. Afterward, we decided to go out to brunch. We tried Bob Evans, but they were PACKED. Next we tried a small local cafe ... they were also standing room only. Ultimately, we went to a little diner right around the corner from our home. They were busy too, but we got the last table available when we walked in. The food was good, so much so that DH commented that he thought he had had the best omelette of his life. Guess it was worth all the driving around we did.
When we got home, I went out to work in the raised beds again. I filled another garbage can with limbs and sticks but did not finish the job. I can probably fill at least another can, if not two more. It was pretty breezy this afternoon which made it feel a lot cooler than the 60° it was. I sat for about half of the time I was out there. If I hadn't, I doubt I could have done nearly what I did. The meteorologist I listened to tonight said that we should not get to freezing overnight any night this week. That was encouraging! I think tomorrow I will pot up my coleus for the front porch so they can start to harden off. I will probably also take the trays of most things out to the patio for a while. It seems as though spring might actually be deciding to stick around for a while. Yay!
My uncle called while I was outside so I had to call him back. He was calling to tell me we wouldn't be getting together this week after all. His cousin from Tennessee had called to say they were not coming because he had fallen and banged himself up good and proper. It looks as though he may need to have rotator cuff surgery. Recovery and rehabbing from that is no joke, possibly taking 4-6 months, but he hopes to try to make up to see us in the fall. So that opened up my Thursday unless DH can schedule his dental surgery or Doppler test on his carotid artery. Both of those need to be scheduled ASAP.
So, that has been my day. Mostly, it was good and I am thankful.
Man, Gayle, you had a busy day! I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the nice weather too. Isn't it amazing what paint can do for faded pots? I need to paint some of mine too before I fill them.
I think you did really good, Sandy, but I'm sorry you started to hurt while you worked. The first few times each year in the garden can do a number on our muscles. Hopefully everything will do well in your cold frame.
Well, I guess I am going to start winding down now. I think I will watch American Idol and Deception before I call it a night. I hope everyone had a good day, and I wish you all a nice night.

A lazy start to the day forus altho we were up about 6.30. We both were on tablets for a while and then it was time for me to call Mum, right after her lunch. She I think has been more concerned about our anniversary than we were. Possibly because she didn't get to celebrate hers (Dad died just after their 47th) and her sister's husband died suddenly, just 8 days before theirs. Anyway had quite a chat with her and then we went out for breakfast. Then a little bit of grocery shopping and then on to buy a few seeds for the garden.
I did get the laundry done then it was warm enough to work outside for a couple of hours, me on weeding and cleaning up one flowerbed and hubby cut back the grape vines. This year I started with a small flower bed that usually gets left until the end - I normally start with the biggest one and it takes forever. I'm expecting to feel it tomorrow - we'll see.
Nice job on your new rose bed Gayle. What colour roses do you have?
You were busy Sandy. Isn't it nice to have decent weather finally? Hope you don't hurt too much in the morning.
Sounds like you achieved lots today too Karen. Sorry your family get together is off, especially as your mom had agreed to go. Maybe hubby will gowith you more often on a Sunday morning with the thought of a nic
Nothing worth watching on TV so I'll read my book for a while.
Have a lovely evening 🙋 elunch!!

Tasty, I bought a (yellow) Sun Flare, a (red) Dolly Parton, a (purple) Angel Face & a really pretty pink one with the odd name of Waheke (and I'm spelling that from memory. LOL)
I can't wait until they bloom.

Just got back from DM. Met DS & Family for dinner at an Italian Place. Good visit, Then Curt headed out and we five ladies went shopping for a dress for the wedding. Got 2 and was dressy pants & tops. They were all looking. Then we went to Jorden Creek food court and snacked, visited and rested. They went home and will all be together in June for the wedding. Then DD I went to VonMars and she found 2 nice sheer wraps and a top. Then home and I snoozed most of the way. Will sleep late in AM. The silver jacket is OK, but the top underneath needs altering and the pants are too long. The blush one fit good.
Now I have to find a nice summer pair of shoes. Can find some in Ames, but not sure how I will get there.
That was my day - and will read more tomorrow! G'nite. Alma

Sat outside for nearly an hour this afternoon, and it was enjoyable, even though it wasn't in any sun, just on our covered patio and I wore a heavy jacket. No yard work to do anymore, but do have to move my one hibiscus to a larger pot. The roots are coming all out and I have to wate r it constantly now. I will have to wait until Rosie can help me some week, when it warms up more. While I was sitting there another lady, who used to join our morning "coffee" uptown years ago and recently moved in here, joined me and we had a good chat.
I made a meatloaf for my supper, which I haven't made in a long time and it tasted so good - maybe just being outside gave me more appetite! Tomorrow my DIL is taking me grocery shopping. Hopefully I can load up on fresh veggies and fruits. I think my body is calling for them now it is getting warmer!
I will enjoy reading all your planting work and will enjoy the fruits of your labors thru pictures when it is all "in full bloom".
