Yes...it was a beautiful January day here. I was in a good mood all day (stage 4 cabin fever). Yes...we got the snow forecast and even more!! My DD came for lunch and while she was here we saw a car pull in the driveway. It was Lily's DIL. She had left work early, but could not go north to her home as the roads had not been plowed, so she decided to stop here. Lucky for me I had enough extra lunch to share with her. This afternoon we played cards and had coffee. I introduced her to cool whip in coffee... . She stayed until around 4 this afternoon when we saw the plow go by. We had to shovel her out as she was stuck in my driveway. She gave me a call when she made it home safely. A fun afternoon. I put 5 bird feeders out yesterday and wondered if the birds would find them....well, they did! I apologize for some of these not being great pictures, but they were taken in a blizzard through a window. These are the 2 feeders that I put on the upstairs deck: Not sure why they look blue? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ These 2 feeders are on the ground outside my downstairs sunporch: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I put this tray on the front porch just for today's winter storm...OMG...that tray was full this morning and is empty now....I have a terrible mess to clean up out there, but it sure was fun watching the birds there today. I didn't get a pic of the cardinals nor the robins out there. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I am hoping this is the LAST winter storm and this white stuff will soon be a memory. Charlene

At least you get to enjoy the birds and they are grateful to you for the feast. Birds do look pretty against the snow. Here, even in winter, they just seem to blend in.

And here I thought it was February the 77th. Silly me!! I have no words except hang in there. It can't last forever! What a nice assortment of birds. Looks like they appreciated the snacks!

wHAT GREAT PICTURES! (OOPS) I so enjoy watching the birds feeding and bathing through the computer room window in the winter and watching them while sitting out on the patio in the summer.\
I am happy you are enjoying them.
Your snow looks like what we had today.

Who knew? Glad you enjoyed feeding the birds. Great locations - even on the porch. Birds can enjoy it too.
But the snow is another story. Hope no more of these kind of chapters!

A good variety of birds. I'm guessing no squirrels nearby.

Wow Charlene, did you ever get snow. Great pictures of the birds; glad you had feeders out for them. Guess I can't complain about getting so much rain.

The birds are really eating in these pictures, I feel sorry for the robins.
Way too much cold and snow for this time of year.

Charlene--those feeders really worked! You picked a good time to put them out--the birds found them without any problem at all! LOL!
Is that a robin at a suet feeder in picture #5? If so, it's something I've never seen. Poor thing must be really hungry.

He was there for a long time before going to the ground and eating seeds there. Charlene

I see goldfinch, house finch, juncos, blue jay, robin, sparrow.
I melted together and mixed up chunky peanut butter, lard, corn meal, wh. flour, and some sunflower seeds and made cakes and balls from it. I stopped feeding the cakes as I was getting starlings. I broke off and threw a whole bunch of chunks out the bathroom window for the juncos and the robins. They were enjoying that but sadly the grackles and squirrels like it also. I saw the squirrel run off with several chunks to stash for later.
Yesterday was a flurry of activity out here; today is a little quieter as they aren't so desperate. I actually saw a junco eating out of a thistle seed feeder. That was a first for me; they usually are content to eat off the ground or a tray.

A handful of raisins is what I fed when the snow hid the robins food. many remember my pet robin story and family. Don't know if it is still on the saved part and will look next week.
My iPad was hiding beside a box and I had the 3 papers I was going to save on top. But it was standing up and in a smaller spot. Was 52% charged because I had been cleaning.
And that is what I need to be doing now.
On IPT a pix of snow someone had written.
