Good morning friends.
I started typing yesterday and then something happened to the computer!
Lori, Who won the hockey game?
Received a letter in the mail that oldest DD has been chosen for the French Honor Society. There's a ceremony next month but it also conflicts with softball teams first tournament. Hopefully she will make it. We are very proud of her.
Youngest dd will be turning 10 on the 17th but her party is tonight. We have nine kids sleeping over tonight! We will order pizza and have cake and ice cream. She wanted a picture of Mr. M. on her cake so that's what we did. I'll pick it up from the bakery today.
Off and running.
Wishing each of you a wonderful day.
Nancy

Thanks for starting things off, Lori. Blame It On Someone Else Day? LOL! I wonder how that became a thing.
Nancy, that is so sweet that your DD wanted Mr M on her cake. I know you all miss him. Hope the party is fun for everybody and that she has a happy birthday! And congrats to oldest DD on the French honor society! You have smart girls.
Off to a busy day but it will be pretty outside, for sure. Supposed to get up to 80 today. We are meeting my sister & DBIL and another couple for dinner this evening at Logan's so I am looking forward to a good steak.
Have a great Friday, everybody!

Good morning.
Nancy, such a cute idea for dd's cake. So sweet. Happy early birthday to her and have fun at the party.
A couple of you asked my Mexican sandwich recipe. I just throw meat in the crockpot and add spices and salsa about 2 tlb of vinegar. For spices I use cumin, garlic powder, and TJ chile lime pepper mix. I use this for burritos, tacos, and mexican sandwiches.
Have to run.
Have a great day.

Thanks, Betsy. I could do that!
Ann--I posted at the end of yesterday's thread but it probably should have been here. You mentioned fish salad--do you have a regular recipe for this?

Nancy Congratulations to oldest DD what an honor. Also to youngest DD and hope she has a fun birthday party. What an idea for top her cake. So sorry Mr. M is gone. You all took such good care of him. My little guy is getting to be onry!! He goes outside and I am thinking he probably has to go to bathroom but oh now it is a game he is playing with me I open door and he goes opposite way has been 11:00 when I get him back in here. Tonight I will not let him out late and he better get over it!! He has stopped me from taking vacations and doing things I want to do. My kids shake their heads that I have committed to take care of him.
Supper last night turned out very good. Got to meet Troy's wife which was good. Kim could not come as she has been so sick all week. She thanked me for cooking a good meal for Mark. I had 2 salads one was grape salad which was good and other one I have made several times and it did not set up real good. I got to thinking afterwards that I used sugar free Jell-O so think that is what happened. Who knows it has buttermilk, cool whip and pineapple and the Jell-O. We had plenty of food. Deanna Troy's wife could not have Strawberry/rhubarb pie so she had coconut cream pie. She said if she tries strawberries her throat swells and feels terrible. So was able to please everyone. The grape salad I used a recipe that had crushed butterfinger candy bars crushed on top. Mark loved it and it was good.
Have the cleaning lady coming today and house is not bad at all as I cleaned for company, might have her clean kitchen floor today.
The guy who had my sale passed away so Chuck and Linda are coming to pick me up to go to visitation will see what time we get out of there as I planned on taking them out for supper, is their Ann. and he helped me so much on doing the things I needed done to lay carpet too. So will see what time we get out of funeral home.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Nancy, I know how proud you are of Dd and what an honor. That's wonderful news.
We are headed up to UCLA for incoming freshman weekend. DD is so excited and I have to say DH seems more excited than her. He got wait listed for this school and it was his dream school. Funny his girl got in there. Girl power!
Have a great weekend.

Morning, friends! Mother nature is not cooperating this Spring, for sure!!! Started out warmish and sunny, but now its cloudy and getting cooler. No big plans for today. I have a bunch of veggies to prep. I want rice some broccoli and cauliflower stems and use the it as an addition to some whole grains I'll be using for a fried rice on Sunday. The leftover pork will go into that, too. Tonight I'm making a TOH recipe, "Chicken and Broccoli with Dill Sauce". Will have it with the rest of the mac & cheese. Birdy - I just wing the fish salad...making it like a I make tuna salad with finely diced red onion, celery, parsley, and a mayo/Greek yogurt sauce. This time I was using the leftover Citrus Cod recipe, and, since the sauce I served it with when hot was leftover, I used that to bind the salad. Did you ever hear of Mock Lobster? My mom used to make it, and, when mixed, it really looks like lobster, and tastes like lobster if you poach the cod in lobster stock (using lobster shells or bodies from the fish market)! It calls for roasted red peppers, mayo, and finely diced celery & onions (or green onion) and sweet paprika. Serve in toasted/grilled NE hot dog rolls w/ lettuce. Elza - Mmmmm! A steak dinner!!! Have fun! Marlene - Hope you get to treat Chuck & Linda for their anniversary. Nice of you to go to the visitation. Nancy - Congrats to your DD; that's a fantastic accomplishment. Sending claps!!! Also sending B'day wishes to youngest DD; hope your "survive" their fun evening!!! LOL Betsy - Thanks for the recipe; looks delicious, and I will try it. Tammy - Enjoy your ice cream treat!!! Time to get back to the kitchen; will visit later! Waving!

Good morning.no shuffleboard this morning as it is windy. I am sitting in my recliner under a blanket. I need to switch clothes to jeans and a sweatshirt. We have happy hour tonight at the neighbors so I hope the winds due down.
Marlene- I know what you mean about no vacations while having a pet. I don't know what we will do once something happens to Louie but I know we won't be tied down at 9am and 9 pm every night.
They sure are getting some wicked weather up North. I hope winter ends soon.
Nancy- congratulations to your daughter. Also good luck at sleep tonight with 10 giggly girls!
Never-ending I need to look and see if I can find that TJ lime powder.
Side-by-side have fun tonight!!!

Good Friday afternoon !
It has been cloudy here all day and we have had some tiny sprinkles.
I worked over at the resale shop, and then came home and we had tuna on a grilled bun for lunch. If it is raining tonight during our cook out, it will be moved over to the care center. DH will use the grill over there and do the burgers and brats.
I also finished the spaghetti salad for tonight. I am going to rest a bit and then make the "fat ladies". I need to come up with a better name I think, before I take them to the coffee shop.
Good luck tonight Nancy! and congratulations to older DD. How can younger DD be 10 already? I remember when she was born and taking naps during the day. How sweet that she wants a photo of Mr. M on her cake.
Hope it works out for you to go out for dinner tonight Marlene.
Elza, enjoy your dinner out! Wish we had a Logans close by.
I saw a bottle of lime pepper in the pantry at church. I had heard of lemon pepper but never lime pepper. The lady let me take a little sample of it.
DH had to perform an exercise at work a few days ago. It was something all the staff had to do, it involved putting on glasses that made you have tunnel vision, putting on mittens, and also putting on some headphones that had constant sounds. Then you were given 5 tasks to perform. The 2 I remember Dh had to do was to button up the black shirt, and get 37 cents from a coin purse. Imagine buttoning a shirt with mittens on! All this was to realize what it was like having dementia. I don't remember the other 3. Everyone had a different list of 5. He was so glad when it was over.
I'm getting a stiff neck for some reason, so think I will take a couple aspirin and lay down a few minutes before I start baking. Bye for now.

Marlene, was your pineapple fresh or canned? I keep seeing not to use fresh in jello as the enzmes prevent it from setting up. Of course, you likely know this being the wonderful cook you are. Sorry Kim wasn’t well enough to enjoy your lovely meal.

Hello again friends. Hope everyone has had a nice day so far.
This morning after speaking with DD and going on a bike ride, I went over to BJ's to pick up some items. After a quick breakfast/lunch, I then went over to Publix. DH is getting the oil changed in his truck on his way in from work, then together we will go to the Amish Farm Market for our fruits and veggies.
Tomorrow morning I will tag along with DH as he needs to go over to another window company and pick up some parts for one of the machines he uses. Afterwards we will stop at Bass Pro for him to check out a few items he is looking at for hunting in the Fall. Not exactly what I would call a "fun" day, but I'll take a book and find a place to sit down and read while he is busy having fun.
Nancy, last night was Game 1 of the play-offs and the Lightning (Bolts) the NJ Devils. Tomorrow afternoon is Game 2 so I told DH I have to be back to watch that. Congrats to oldest DD on being chosen for the French Honor Society--what a bright young lady she must be and how proud you and DH must be of her. Happy early birthday wishes to youngest DD. I hope she has fun at her sleep-over party tonight. Love the idea on Mr. M. on her cake--I know how much all of you loved that cat it upsets me to think he's gone missing. Like Tammy, I can't believe your youngest will be 10--it seems like only yesterday when she was still home with you.
Elza, eat something yummy for me when you go out for dinner tonight.
Betsy, thanks for sharing how you make the Mexican Sandwich. Sounds good and I will make it for sure, but need to get over to TJ's before hand to pick up that lime pepper. Hope you, DH, and DD have a fun and eventful weekend at UCLA.
Marlene, sounds like your dinner last night went well and was enjoyed by all. You always cook up a storm and I would be so honored to sit at your table. How kind of you to remember and go over to the funeral home for the man who held your sale. Hopefully you will be able to go with Chuck and Linda afterwards for dinner.
Elaine, my friend in Sun City was just telling me earlier in the week that they hit 100* for the first time this year and my SIL in Tucson also mentioned the heat. Sorry it was a cool and windy morning for you. Have a good time this evening at the neighbor's.
Ann, I'll be checking out your dinner recipe from TOH as soon as I get off here. Let us know how if it's a keeper.
Tammy, sounds like you're going to also have a nice evening out. I hope the weather cooperates. Please let me know the new name "fat ladies" gets and how everyone enjoyed the meal. Hope you got a quick nap and when you woke the stiff neck was gone.
Birdy and Angela, sending waving and sending you good thoughts.
Tasty, Helen, and anyone else I missed, thinking of you too and I hope you had a nice day.
Going to clean out the leftovers tonight--I have 3 different ones I'd like to use up for dinner.
Lori

Angela the pineapple was 20oz. can of crushed pineapple juice and all heated and pkg. of Jell-O stirred in and put 2 cups of buttermilk in and 8oz. of cool whip when it is cool, put in fridge. It makes a great salad but was not really set up last night and has to be the sugar free Jell-O that did it. Just glad everything else was good!!

Yesterday was my well-woman yearly check-up. All is well so I guess I'm good to go for a while longer. While I was out I got some fresh veggies and had a beautiful big salad for supper. Tonite's supper will be corn on the cob, marinated cukes and onions, and sliced tomatoes. It was 87 degrees while I was running around in the Bug. That's too hot for me so I probably won't be putting the top down much longer.
Congrats to your daughters, Nancy. They sound so smart and happy.
Lucky are the guests who sit at your table, Marlene. You really are a great hostess.
Have a wonderful family weekend, Betsy. So exciting for all of you.
I think that's a very cute name for your cookies, Tammy. Do you remember the "Two Fat Ladies" who used to cook on the Food Network years ago? They were British and fun to watch.
Time to tend to supper. I'm ready for some corn and lots of melted butter dripping down my chin. ;)
