Good morning.
Nice weather here. Spring has arrived for sure. Sunny and 77.
I have to run to the high school this morning and do residency verification for youngest dd. She will be a 9th grader next school year. While I am there my 12th grader asked me to have school send UCLA an official transcript as she is applying for their honors program. After I pick youngest dd up at school this afternoon she needs to see her orthodontist. The wire was not placed right in the bracket and is bothering her.
Not sure what dinner will be. If I have time may run to Costco with the girls but if not we will go tomorrow afternoon.
Have a great day.

Good Morning ! Betsy, thanks for starting us off. I love the new profile photo!
Just got back home from dropping off the girl dog at the groomers. I am hoping to get busy in the kitchen and bake some gluten free peanut butter cookies. Maybe one other thing if I can decide what to make and if I have the ingredients.
After lunch I am going to drive over to the next town south of us and drop by Merle Norman, and check out a couple resale shops. Then will stop and pick up the dog-she will done around 3. The grooming shop is about half way to this town, so it won't be out of the way.
Supper will be pork chops. I got a package of black pepper crusted chops at the store yesterday. Sides will probably be roasted bay potatoes (Schwan's) and some carrots.
Today is sunny. It started off cool but should be about 80 by afternoon.
Have not taken any more cold meds and am doing fine. That rattle in my chest is gone.
Helen, hope you managed a hair cut today.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hello friends. Today is National Cinnamon Crescent (Croissant) Day.
Thanks Betsy for staring us today. Hopefully by now you've taken care of what needed to be done at the high school and have moved on to the orthodontist with youngest DD--poor thing, that had to be uncomfortable.
Tammy, sounds like you've got a nice day planned. Hope you have fun, find some items you want at the resale shops, and find your "little girl" looking cute as a button when you pick her up.
It is currently 80*. Local radar is looking like a Christmas tree with the lights all on, but I don't know just how much rain we'll actually see. It all started north of Tampa early this morning and although it is slightly moving south, it mainly moved east. With the large amount of wildfires we've been having any rain we get would be so beneficial right about now.
Bet, I had to make my 2nd batch of Ranch Dressing last night. DH is simply gone wild about it and took it to work with a huge bag on veggies I cleaned and cut up. He was cute going out the door this morning saying, " I think this will get me through Friday, but you better plan to make more for the weekend."
Going to make a chicken stir-fry for dinner this evening. Waving to all.

Good day, friends! Cloudy and cold today with rain on the way. Went to the senior center; now I'm home for the rest of the day. Just made some mac & cheese to go with pork chops and a cabbage, onion, & carrot medley that I will sauté (shhhh!..using a little bacon fat). Tammy - You reminded me to call to make an appointment to get my mom's cat groomed when you talked about going to your groomer. Those pork chops sound really good! I'm going to spread Korean gochujang on ours and them into Shake 'n Bake. Glad to read that you are feeling fine again! Betsy - Ouch! That must have been annoyingly painful for DD having a loose wire on her braces. Chris - Not sleeping is just a miserable experience; I'm in that "club" more times than I care for, too. Bet - I have some veal cutlets in the freezer. Do you just sauté a mess of peppers and onions to go with? I usually make a Marsala or Piccata so something like that would be a good change of pace. Helen - Did you get your ears lowered? I'm due for a cut in two weeks, but it's already giving me fits. Elaine - Amazing the hiding places cats find when they want to hide. When Duchess was first here, she disappeared for days only coming out to eat and use the litter box...at night! We finally found one spot...under my mom's bed in her shoe drawer. Course, once discovered she found a new place!!! Just got a scam IRS call from Buffalo, NY telling us that we owed a huge sum to the IRS. We will be arrested [by the local cops!] and prosecuted if we don't call the number back within 24 hours. Least they thanked us for listening!! I'm laughing about it, but I can imagine how some seniors get so upset over a call like that. PS: We just got a second call! They mean business, for sure!!! Clinton on The Chew made a 70's style dish using leftover (from a party) cheese. It's a three cheese fondue with steak tips. It's supposed to be served with potato and bread. I remember those days! LOL I still have a big container of fondue forks and some fondue plates! Lori - We glad to read that you had a good sub job yesterday! Tasty - The fish recipe is a keeper. I'm going to make a fish salad with the leftovers! Hope everyone has a great evening! Waving!

I accomplished what I needed to do at the high school. Parking is awful there but I waited until another parent came out and lucked out with a spot. Tammy, my avatar is of the Hotel Del in Coronado. Such a pretty spot. Lori, would you mind directing me to the ranch dressing thread? Sounds yummy.
Ann, I had to laugh. My sister always she was getting her ears lowered when she got a haircut. :)
I have some time before the ortho appt. so I will get some work done.
Waving to all.

Ann, I would never waste good veal cutlet to make veal and peppers. Unfortunately veal cutlet just doesn't fit into my budget anymore plus none of the markets around here even carry any veal.
The veal and peppers I make is done with veal stew meat. It is a recipe that a good Italian friend who owned a restaurant here shared with me many years ago. I cook 2 1/2 pounds of stew veal meat in water and salt to season. When completely tender I freeze it in containers with the broth from cooking the meat. When I want veal and peppers I drain the broth from the meat and give it a quick browning, remove it from the pan and fry the peppers until crisp tender, add the meat back in the pan and use the broth and leftover spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce or marinara sauce to make a consistency that will just coat cooked egg noodles. Before adding the egg noodles I had chopped rosemary either dried or fresh just to give the sauce a hit of the rosemary flavor. It is hard to give an exact measurement of anything, it is a matter of taste.

Bet - That sounds so delicious! I never buy veal cutlets unless there is a sale tag on it! My brother used to buy the veal stew meat, trim it, and pound it into mini-cutlets. It was tender and delicious.

You might like to give this a try for a little different change of pace:
WESTPORT DRESSING
This dates back to the 1930's and 40's to the Westport Room in Kansas City. I believe it was owned by Fred Harvey Restaurants.
1 cup mayonnaise – NOT MIRACLE WHIP ¼ cup parmesan cheese 1 tablespoon lemon juice ½ teaspoon black pepper 2 or 3 teaspoons Tabasco sauce ¾ teaspoon garlic salt 3 teaspoons or more of Worcestershire sauce 3 tablespoons dried, fine breadcrumbs (I use packaged) ¼ cup water
Stir all together and let stand, refrigerated for a couple of hours for flavors to blend. The breadcrumbs are an unusual addition and add body to this. It will thicken slightly upon standing and should have a consistency similar to Thousand Island ….slightly thick. It keeps for up to a week, refrigerated. I use it to dip veggie sticks in as well as a salad dressing on green salads. ENJOY !

Have not done anything too exciting today. Took out trash and Jeff was here loading 2 trucks with his beans. I called a guy to take out some bushes and lilac trees and came and gave me estimate and told him to do it. Will be happy to that done. I then went to town to get a pill I forgot to get with my other pills and also got three things at grocery store that I decided to make for Thursday night meal. Came home and had some Italian links thawed so made 2 casseroles w/bacon, eggs, milk, sausage and hash browns. So baked them and will take one over to Chuck.
It is a nice sunny day and tomorrow they are they are saying in 70's so looking forward to that. They also have snow in forecast for Sunday will see????
Red is on his 2nd nap for the day. That is all he does anymore except goes outside in between. He did not like the 2 trucks here this morning and tractor running. So he was glad to come in.
Everyone have a good day!

Couldn't get in for a haircut today == tomorrow's the day! I had baked beans with ham in them and deviled eggs for supper. Kind of a mini personal picnic. Looks like we may get some of the rain Lori was talking about. How I would love listening to the rain with maybe a bit of thunder in the background. :) Sweet dreams.

DH had chicken sandwiches ready when I got home today. I stopped at the Wal-Mart market on the way home since I was out of coffee creamer -- :o -- and also picked up apples, tangerines, and my favorite warm-weather beverage, Sam's Clear American sparkling water.
Tonight I'm doing laundry and also getting music together for choir practice tomorrow night. It has really warmed up nicely and should be in the high 60s to mid 70s the rest of this week. I'm liking that.
Lori, LOL at your DH and the ranch dressing! That recipe is a keeper, for sure. You might better start making double or triple batches!
Betsy, I hope sending transcripts has gotten easier since my guys were in high school. They had to be signed and sealed and all kinds of stuff to be sure they were genuine and had not been tampered with. Surely that is being doing online now.
Ann, I have heard others tell about the IRS scam calls but have never gotten one like that. The latest thing here is people getting calls on their cell phone that show the call is from their own number! Local law enforcement says it's a phishing scam and the best thing is not to answer it.
Tammy, that does sound like a nice day you had planned. Did you find anything good while you were out shopping?
Elaine, enjoy that buffet!
Bet, I have never cooked veal -- not real sure if I've even eaten it!
Marlene, it may not have been an exciting day but sounds like you got some things taken care of that needed to be done. Always a good feeling.
Helen, I'm due for a haircut too -- starting to feel a little mop-headed. I had an appointment for Thursday evening but then a work get-together got planned so I'm rescheduling.
Have a great evening, everybody!

Waterlily--thanks for sharing that recipe for the Westport Dressing. It looks like something I would like. Because I have to watch my carbs, I may try it either with less bread crumbs or none at all. I might replace them with mayo to make sure the other ingredients aren't too strong. It sounds good!
