I know the subject of Bakewell Cream came up on the threads somewhere recently--can't remember where. Totally by accident, I ran across this 20-page recipe booklet online this morning. Bakewell Cream is available from King Arthur Flour's web site and in grocery stores, mostly in the Northeast. It's made in Maine. The recipes use Bakewell Cream, not Bakewell Cream Baking Powder, which is totally different. Anyway, these recipes are from Apple Ledge Co., makers of the Original Bakewell Cream. It is supposed to make the best biscuits but there are loads more recipes here. They claim that it improves the crumb of just about any baked goods. There is even a home-made baking mix recipe that's a substitute for Bisquick. Personally, I want to try both the Cornbread and the Blueberry Buckle recipes for a start. www.soupbase.com/momcookbooks/bakewell.pdfBirdy

No wonder we had not heard of it here in Nebraska. I was going to look for it the next time I go grocery shopping. Thanks for the advice that there is a difference between Bakewell Cream and Bakewell Cream Baking Powder. I will check out the cookbook too.

I just did a quick search for the best price online for B Cream. Amazon wants nearly twice the price of King Arthur's listing. I didn't do any more searching so there might be a lower price somewhere. Since it doesn't have the baking soda in it, the shelf life is much longer than regular baking powder once opened.

The King Arthur Flour site has it for sale for $6.95 for 8 oz.
I saw another site that wanted $11.99 for the same size can.
I bake so little anymore that I doubt I would buy any. I had looked at Walmart when I was there the other day.
