Good Morning again, Nothing new here to report. Its 24* going to a high of 30*, no sun but not rain or snow either. Today is booth day, I do think we sold something big yesterday as I got a phone call asking if I would lower the price, I did but only by a $1.00. Need to make some money. Still working on doing some deep cleaning, was busy most of yesterday. Went and picked up Gage yesterday he was at his Dad's. He had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled Monday, he is doing OK didn't talk much.
Lair, Did the furnace get fixed, that's good the repairman that installed it, so he knew what was going on. Did you get lots done yesterday?
Kay, So I take it, it was ice hitting the house, or junk from the wind being so strong. No I have never used Bakewell cream.
Mary, We didn't need to shovel snow yesterday, in fact, hardly any snow, it melted as it hit the ground. I should say it was the element that was on fire, some junk on it, don't know what junk it was. Your jacket sounds real interesting.
MaryMi, Have a great time with Jill.
Birdy, Some interesting facts.
Alma, Sorry I can't give you any energy, I don't have much to share. Why was your picture in the paper?
Well I better get busy, have a load of clothes to do, clean the coffee pot, the list goes on. Have a great day.

Morning, all
Sunny day here, and I didn't see anything when I set the trash out, so I guess it was ice hitting the house.
Carol, hope Gage recovers from the tooth extraction quickly. When I had mine out I looked like Richard Nixon for weeks. Hope you sell the item today!
Thanks for the Bakewell Cream info. Birdy, I didn't know it would last a long time. Am going to try it out as soon as I get some buttermilk. Thought I had some but must have poured it on some chicken pieces and put the bag in the freezer. That way it marinates as it thaws.
Mary we need pictures of your jacket experiments. I thought the picture you posted of it a while back was so pretty.
Laundry calls.

Good Morning, it is only 9* here this morning but should get to almost 30 today. The next couple days should be fun with forecast highs at 40. But by a week from now back down to single figures. I need to get to the post office today so I hope the roads are good today. I was going to make a run yesterday but couldn't get into my garage because the doors were frozen shut. I already was kind of tired so I decided to do it today. I didn't do much yesterday but I kept busy all day. I want to wash my bedding but some cool day coming up so I'll do it then. I also need to get to the courthouse and change address on my license. There's always Friday with the 40* and sun.
Carol, yes I did get the furnace running again. I should say the repairman got it running. That's a good call, about a good sale. Wish I would get one on the house.
Mary Lynn, That is good your daughter is coming. I sure don't envy her riding on a plane and wearing a mask, flying is bad enough.
Mary, how long will it take you to make a coat Seems like a big project.
Snow, Is your weather turning nice. You always have nice weather ahead of us here. Hope you get some good days and the birds go outside.
Kay, I hope your back is better. I never lay carpet because every time my knees and back really hurt.
Judi, Is winter dragging for you too? Spring can't be here soon enough.
Alice, I am about ready to try baking bread myself. I used to but just like Panera better.
Grace, Sounds like you are keeping busy this winter.
Angela, Are you getting things started for the big move. Just make sure you don't get rid of things and then find you will want them later. I did that.
Well, I need to visit the little room, I'll check back later. You all have a great day!

Good Morning All: Our temps have dropped a bit from yesterday: predicted temps for today: 29°, 30° and 31°. We have a light dusting of snow about like powdered sugar on a cake!! ;) How do you like that comparison?? Yesterday I made a loaf of ABM bread and apparently forgot the yeast. It wasn't a total flop (makes good heavy toast thinly sliced - yummy, yummy). Especially with some butter and orange marmalade. BUT the loaf doesn't go as far even thinly sliced. Guess I will have to try again and make sure to include all ingredients. I hope it was me and not the bread machine but I do have backups on a shelf in the garage (only thing someone will have to get one down for me as I can not lift one down - don't trust my arms reaching). Old age is the pits!! Wonder what mischief I can get into today!! Nothing pressing on my agenda so I have a whole day of doing whatever or nothing to write home about. Hope All has a Good Day. CUL

Very frosty and the trees are pretty - but glad I don't have to drive. Maybe 40-50 this weekend. Maybe I can get out.
Discovered nebulizer isn't working and that is what clears the rattle in chest. Hopefully I can get that corrected, but slept much better and can breath with no wheasing.
Good to read what you are doing and where you have been and going.

Cold and cloudy day here. After today it looks like 40's into the week-end and then back to the 30's for awhile. I can handle the 30's knowing we won't be seeing anymore of those awful teens and winds. We did wake up to ice covered walks and roads. The roads are ok but the sidewalks still look a bit slippery. We're only at 25* right now so the walks haven't melted yet. Oh well, I'm not planning on going out there and if I do it will be to the garage, car and out and won't have to worry about sidewalks. I've been in a throwing out mood. Found pictures from way back, went thru them and did a lot of pitching. I still had some from Mom's, and of course, 99% if those had no names or dates so out they went. If, when, the mood strikes me I'll probably scan the pictures I kept and put them on the external hard drive. Need to have the mood strike me before the weather gets nice or they won't get done until next winter..... Lair glad the guy who came to fix the furnaces knew what he was doing. Seems now a days most have no clue. We have a fellow that we always ask for when we have maintenance done on our ac/furnace, always feel comfortable that he knows what he's doing. No offers on the house yet? And yes Lair winter is dragging on and on and on . Kay you mentioned about getting buttermilk, do you ever use the quick method and make your own? Don't use/like the taste of buttermilk so when a recipe I use calls for it I just make some up to put in the batter. MaryMi I hope Jill makes it ok today and you have a nice visit. That flu is certainly running ramp id, seems to be hitting the children really hard and I've heard that the flu shot this year really doesn't work. For some reason today, probably the sun hasn't "charged" up my batteries for the last few days, I just can't seem to get busy. Even had a second cup of coffee and that's not doing it so guess I'll have to give myself a "pep" talk and get off this chair and start moving, but it'll be very slow this morning. Enjoy the day everyone.

Good Morning All, We've been to breakfast and back. I walked 3 blocks to the bank and Jerry drove down to the cafe and I met him there. There was a huge amount of quarters in the change container so I took them with me and got $25 in cash. I also was having issues last night and this morning with not being able to sign in to my online banking. She got it going and tried it at the bank and it worked but I think I messed it up here at home and now it won't work again. I have her phone number. I also stopped at the pharmacy to see if the drs. office called in a prescription for my thyroid meds and she said no but gave me a refill anyway. I picked that up later after I came home and got the checkbook. I did finish one square for the jacket. It looks okay but it will not lay flat no matter what I do and that won't fly. I'm gonna have to rip it back to the first row after the flower petals and figure out what's wrong with the spike stitch row because that's the row with the problem and it's making the next two rows unable to lay flat. I might also try replacing the middle row of black in the last three rows of black with the petal color yarn (Monet) and see what that does. I liked the jacket but this just seems like an awful lot of black right now but that's what the jacket was, black with flowers. Here's what I have: Carol, I feel for Gage as I remember what it felt like to have 4 wisdom teeth out at once. I hope you had a successful sale. Lair, The gal that made this jacket had it done in a month and she was creating it from a different pattern to suit her own tastes. I still have to figure out how to get a single square to lay flat before I can make any more squares. I'm just guessing right now that I may need 69? squares as I'm bigger than that skinny gal in the picture. I have a different coat pattern that shows how many squares are needed and it goes by size, so I may need more squares to cover my butt. Kay, Did you know that you can buy powdered buttermilk? I bought it specifically for recipes that call for buttermilk. I just add the powder to the dry ingredients and the water to the wet instead of trying to mix the two together first and then adding it. Alice, It's nice to know that other people have things that don't always turn out right in their baking. I don't feel so bad now. I have days that I really have to wonder about my baking skills. LOL Everyone stay health. I have to call the gal at the bank to figure out why I still can't get into my online banking. Update: I tried again before I called and it worked fine so I didn't have to call. Then I have to call my health insurance gal to see why my premium hasn't been taken out yet this month. Update: I called and left a message and she called me back within 10 minutes. All is good; the Dec. premium was actually for January and my next premium is scheduled to come out Feb. 1-5. Yea, everything is good still. I thought I had set this all up clear back in November and I had.

Mary, that is another reason I do not trust online banking. I do not want my account number to appear in any way on the internet so no one can hack in. I also want a printed statement each month. Our bank still sends statements but there are some local banks that only will send if you pay a fee.
I have some of the powdered buttermilk but unless it will affect the flavor, adding lemon juice or vinegar to some milk will do the same thing as buttermilk. I had never even heard of Bakewell Cream until it was posted on here the other day. Old as I am, I learn new stuff every day.

Judi, I have soured the milk when I am out of buttermilk, but the recipe I use it in depends on it for the flavor, so it's usually back to the store!
Mary, I use powdered buttermilk when I make up pancake mix. Maybe I just need a cow! Still love that jacket.
Auntcon. I'm just pretty darn old myself and had never heard of Bakewell Cream either!

Good Afternoon, I guess I'm pretty young as I have never heard of powder buttermilk. LOL can you tell I don't do a lot of baking. Why because I eat it all, I do share with the kids, but still I put on too much weight.
I don't do online banking either, after being hacked I'm glad I don't. But then I do pay a couple of bills online and didn't have any problems. But boy those hackers know what they are doing and just wait until the right moment. Like looking for a peanut butter fudge recipe.
Its been a pretty cold day, I think because its so damp.
Later.

Good afternoon, just thought I should post and let you know I will not be here tomorrow. I just got a phone call from a lady at the IRS. Unless I make a payment on my back taxes in the next 6 hours they will come to my home and arrest me. I told them to come and get me. I warned them I would not try to get out. I also expect free cable and medication not to mention room service for the length of my stay. She hung up on me so I'm guessing that will be the end of that.

Okay, I'll clarify about the online banking. I have to go through the banks own website just to get to the account and then to get into my own account I have to supply the answers to two security questions; the first is my person user ID and then they could ask me any of 3 different questions. I don't pay any bills online though; I still send a check in the mail. The bank does send a paper statement once a month. I did this because of things that were getting messed up with the checkbook here at home. I'm the one balancing it and I was getting ticked that sometimes a check was missing; amounts were missing or wrong in the check registry and yes, part of them were my fault. I now can see what checks have or haven't come in and what amounts are deposited and when. Last month I still had one check that hadn't been cashed from 3 months back; it was a gift. I was ready to write her a new check but I also thought there was possibly another motive for holding the check. It finally went through in December. They said the IRS never threatens, they don't take money by money gram, and they wouldn't contact you by phone.
I did tear the motif back to the flower petals but haven't redone it yet.
Kay, I had a dry recipe for making buttermilk pancake mix but now that the kids are gone I don't make pancakes.
Lair, You NEED to report that phone call to your police department. Every week there are at least one or two scams reported to our police department. There is a story on the news right now about your same phone call. The tax scammers are at work already.
Well, NOBODY can ever accuse me of being a know it all or gossip. I just heard about an hour ago about a restaurant here in town that was destroyed by fire last night. I text my kids that live 3.5 and 4 hrs. away and they knew about it from waking up to facebook posts this morning. We went out for breakfast this morning and never heard a word about it. But something amazing came up out of it. A gal I went to college with is working at the tiny restaurant next door. WOO HOO, I haven't seen Roberta since I delivered a squirrel to her house. It promptly ran off her property and on towards the center of her tiny town. LOL

I have gotten that stupid call from the "IRS" several times in different forms over the last several years. I don't answer any calls I don't recognize in the caller ID so they left me a similar message! LOL! Like I was going to call back on that. They never give up, do they?
I love, love, love your reply!
