Good morning friends.
(((Marlene))) Thinking of you my friend.
Today is our annual block party but it looks like there will be thunderstorms this afternoon so maybe it will be postponed until tomorrow.
I'm just waking up so I will be back to chat after.
Wishing each of you nice people a wonderful day.

When I am not employed anymore these weeks just fly by. When I was working seemed they were longer!!
Does not sound like the kids will have any services here for my brother. They will take him back to Guam for services. They will leave around the 21st to go back. I am not happy with it but it is the way they will do it. I voiced my opinion and won't say anything more. They live different life than we do here.
Glad I got the yard mowed here as it started to rain later. Got an inch of rain again. The new seeded grass is really starting. It has been watered good with all the rain we had.
Going to run to town and get some groceries don't need much mostly get my water jugs filled for water cooler.
Have a good week-end everyone. Marlene

Good Morning! Marlene, so sorry about the situation regarding your DB. I hope you can find closure.
DGD is still in the hospital. They have ruled out appendicitis, and ovarian cyst. She may be having stomach migraines-this is something she was diagnosed with awhile back. She is taking some meds now.
We are getting ready to leave and head out for a day trip. We'll be taking a drive around the white mountains. There will be lots of scenic overlooks and some waterfalls and maybe even a covered bridge or two!

Good morning CC friends
One HC this morning! I shall ration myself! (I am lactose intolerant but can not give up my HC") I am a glutton for punishment!
Nancy- I hope you can get the block party in this week end!
Marlene- I am so sorry about your brother and the whole situation. You can have your own service with people that know him. Just get together and remember all the good things and tell stories!
Tammy- I love the White Mountains. North Conway is a must!!! Shops and great places to eat. Go over the Kangamangus Highway! Some absolutely great views and you might see a moose or two! If you go around Lincoln at Dusk you might see one or two also!
We are hoping to get a motorcycle ride in tomorrow but looks like rain. We wanted to go to MA for Rice-A - Rama but probably not. Chris (house cleaning like crazy)

Good morning. 60 and cloudy. I think some rain on the way. That is OK have plenty to do inside. Yesterday as usual didn't do a thing I planned. Got to working on something on the computer and ended up spending the entire day. When I get something in my head regarding a computer I won't quit until I have got it done. It has been years since I wrote anything in computer language and the memory is terrible these days.
Today I will be in the kitchen. Need to get it cleaned up to start with so I can make a mess again. I am going to a picnic out on Lake Ontario tomorrow so am making deviled eggs to take with me. May also make a bundt cake. It is a 3 1/2 hour trip that I am not looking forward to but will get to see some old friends that I haven't seen in a couple of years. May need a winter jacket however, it is to only be in the 60s partly cloudy and very windy. It is right on the lake so that wind is going to be cold. It will be fun no matter.
Not sure what is happening for dinner tonight. Haven't heard from DS yet but it is his turn to make the weekend dinner. It not I will dig up something here.
Melissa, sorry to hear about the arrangements for your brother. As Tammy said I hope you will be able to find closure.
Tammy, enjoy your road trip today. The White Mountains are beautiful. Hope it is sunny there.
Nancy, sounds like you slept in this morning also. I didn't want to get out of bed. I stayed up much later than usual last night.
Have a great day.

Good Saturday, friends! It's another cloudy and humid day, but there is no rain. We have a rain deficit of almost 8 inches...!
Tonight I'm making a Volunteer Field Editor <5 reviews recipe. I found "Veal Saltimbocca" with 2 reviews. I don't normally buy veal, but this package had a sale tag and the pieces were large.
Waving to all! Enjoy a restful day.

Good morning.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
Nancy, have fun today.
Marlene, thinking of you.
Tammy, are you going to Southern NH at all? I love visiting the White Mts. No. Conway is a fun place to see.
Having an AC issue. I think it's time for a new system. Yuck. Luckily it's not too hot.
We have a furniture delivery later so I think we will have a late lunch or early dinner out.
Have a great day.

Good Saturday morning to everyone. My visit with my friends yesterday was wonderful and it still gives me a happy feeling this morning. They have been my friends for 52 years, the three of us lived in an apartment together when we were young. They brought tenderloins, fries, and strawberry shakes from Culvers for our lunch. They also brought a fruit basket, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers out of the garden. Now you can see why I have such a happy feeling. It made it nice that none of us had to cook or work for lunch. I gave them some homemade banana bread to take home plus some note cards with there name printed on them. We don't see each other often anymore as one lives in Colorado, and the other one lives 100 miles from me. We do talk on the phone often. Marlene so sorry about the arrangements they made, but so glad that you got to see him last week. I think that's what really counts to see them when they are alive. I hope you have a good time in town and get some good food to eat. It has to be really hard to carry the 5 gallon bottles of water-- don't know how you do it girl. Take care and I will be thinking of you ((())). Hello Cookguy glad you came over to Whats cookin for a minute. So good to hear from you-- have a good week end. Waving hello to everyone and wishing you a good day.

Marlene, Sorry about the situation for your brother. The least the could've done was have a small service here.
Cookguy, Please join us anytime, nice to see you.
Sara, Sounds like a great day reminiscing with your friends. I bet all of you think "wow! we've known each other for 52 years" Time sure goes by fast, doesn't it?
Tammy, (((DGD)))Poor girl! I will say a prayer for her.
Betsy, Thank you for letting me know Lynne is ok. Sorry you might have to replace your a/c unit.
Chris, Hope the rain holds out so you can go riding.
Bet, Oh the picnic on Lake Ontario sounds so nice. Hopefully the sun will make an appearance.
Ann, DH always orders Veal Saltimbocca at this particular restaurant and it is so good. I agree, veal is expensive.
Oldest DD is down the shore for the weekend with a friend and her family. It was the friends birthday so she invited DD. Now DD has a birthday for another friend in the same town tomorrow so her and the friend she is with now will meet up with the birthday boy and his family and come home with them. Talk about a coincidence that both decided to celebrate away from home in the same town!.
Youngest DD and I went for hair cuts. She had been growing her bangs out and was wearing head bands but the hair was still in her eyes. She decided on bangs again and her hair is a bit shorter and much easier for her to brush and care for. She looks adorable! But then again I think she looks adorable all the time. We were sad to find out that a boxer named Buddy who we always visited at the limo place next to where we get our hair cuts passed away. He was 7 y.o. and had a brain tumor. We always looked for him in the huge window. We would run back and forth with him, he on the inside and us girls on the outside. He was put to sleep two weeks ago :'( .
For the block party I've decided to make sausage, peppers and onions. We also picked up a package of sugar cookies for the dessert table.

Well I got stood up for dinner tonight. Hadn't heard from DS so gave him a call. He finally called me back. They are going to the car show in Lake George so he had decided to cook tomorrow night. Well guess what kiddo I won't be here tomorrow night. So I am left to fend for myself.
Just pulled a burger out of the freezer and I have everything in the refrigerator to make a potato salad but leaning toward just the burger dressed up. I have done enough tasting while cooking for the picnic today that I am not even hungry at the moment.

I will be leaving early in the morning. I have to go to my Moms house and tell them what is ours so they don't sell everything. They don't know who has what there. Don't know what they plan to sell as we own 2 fridges, 2 stoves, deep freeze and washer and dryer. Don't know how many beds are left there either, I don't snoop when I go into house as it was not like we keep house!!! Need I say more. So don't know how everything works either. It was all new when Mom was there as I went and bought it and put it there for her. She had never had anything new but last two years she did. This is not what I was planning on doing tomorrow but it is what it is!! Marlene

Nancy, hope the weather cooperated and you were able to enjoy the block party today.
Tammy, poor DGD--I feel badly for her! I too will say a prayer for her health.
Marlene, I know you aren't happy with the arrangements for your brother; it's a shame his kids couldn't have something sweet and simple here, as I'm sure not everyone can travel to Guam. Since you mentioned he lived there most of his life, was it his wishes to return to Guam for his burial?
Ann, how did you like the veal saltimbocca? Hopefully you can give it a good review.
Bet, a Lake Ontario picnic sounds nice to me. Hope the sun will shine and warm things up for your day tomorrow.
Betsy, by now your furniture should have been delivered and hopefully you're happy with it.
Sara, friends...sounds like you got a great group and what a nice day you gals had!
Chris, what is Rice-A-Rama? Hope you made it there today.
Busy day running to several grocery stores and taking DH's truck in for service. When we finally got back home this afternoon, I made a pot of Beef, Bacon, and Lentil Soup (Penzey's recipe). Packaged it up into individual containers for DH to take to work, but got a quick taste and thought it had a very nice flavor.
Dinner was some of the leftovers that accumulated throughout the week. We'll finish them off tomorrow for our lunch as I will be pulling one of my marathon cooking days. Now that I am back subbing, it is difficult to get a nice meal on the table some nights. I'll do the entire week ahead tomorrow and that will make for an easy week--just need to reheat daily.
Our weather was very hot today--97*-- and the heat and humidity have me beat. Going to turn in early. Goodnight friends.
Lori
