I lost 3 of my mum plants over last winter, mild as it was. They had been in for several years and I thought they were well established, guess not, so did nothing to protect them. I just planted 5 new ones and am wondering the best way to protect them when they finish blooming to save them from winter.
I have a strip of yellow mums, about 4 feet long, that my dad planted for me from cuttings from some of his. He planted them back in 1987 shortly before he passed away. I've never done anything to them and they bloom beautifully each year for the last 29 years, a bright sunny reminder of him each year.
All ideas on the best way to protect them would be appreciated. Thanks.
