Been trying to use the microwave more as my "oven" and am buying special microwave cookwsre, sturdier microwavable storage containers, etc.So far i have used the cookware successfully but am interested in what's tried and true for you. I like doing mac&cheese this way.

Corn on the cob is great in the mw.
This is how I do it.So easy.

Lemon Fan Potatoes [micro wave]
4 large Idaho Potatoes
1/4 C grated Parmesan cheese
3 T chopped fresh parsley
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 C butter or margarine
1 T lemon juice
2 tsp. lemon zest
Serves 4
Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Combine cheese, parsley, paprika and salt in a small bow; set aside. Cut each potato crosswise into 1/4-inch thick slices, cutting to, but not through, bottom of potato. Allow potatoes to stand in ice water 10 minutes.

Combine margarine, lemon juice and lemon rind in a 1-cup microwave-safe glass measure; microwave, uncovered, at HIGH 30 to 40 seconds, or until margarine is melted.
Drain potatoes and pat dry. Arrange potatoes, cut side up, in 12x8x2-inch microwave-safe baking dish. Brush tops and sides of potatoes with margarine mixture. Cover with microwaveable plastic wrap and microwave at HIGH 12 to 14 minutes, or until tender; rearranging potatoes every 6 minutes and brushing with remaining margarine mixture. Sprinkle potatoes with cheese mixture. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes.
You could alternatively, bake the potatoes in a conventional oven.

We do corn on the cob in the microwave also but we shuck it, wash it, and wrap it in a paper towel, then dampen the paper towel. Two minutes for a single ear and it's perfectly done. Unwrap, add butter and any other seasonings and dig in.

You can type in just about any type of food and it will bring up several recipes for that food item. There are a lot of good ideas for easy recipes you might enjoy. The only thing I really cook in my microwave is corn on the cob. Shuck, pull off silk, wrap in wax paper--4 mins. per ear. Have been making it this way for over 35 years. Otherwise, the microwave is strictly used to re-heat items. Lori

I only use my microwave for warming things up. I use my grill for corn, but I guess I should try the microwave.

I use my micro wave for warming up things. Once in a while will bake a potato in it if in a hurry. I do make a couple of mug cakes for dessert. They are simple and good.

I cooked stuffed peppers in the microwave. I used to make them in the oven, but hate mushy peppers. You can make whatever filing that you like. I cut the peppers in half longways. Stuff the peppers and put them in a microwave safe baking dish. I usually cook on high for 2 minutes, then check them to see if they need more cooking. We like them to still be crunchy.

Marg,the trick re corn on the cob in the mw is cutting about an inch off the stalk end of the cob.That`s the end the silk grows from.So the silk is cut loose making removal so much easier.

Carol, never thought of doing stuffed peppers in the wave! I love stuffed peppers. I do havec a few mw cookware items. They work great! You are even supposed to be able to cook meatloaf, meat balls, chicken, etc in them. Havent tried yet, though.
