I have a peach pie recipe that calls for a little peach schnapps. I hate to buy a bottle just for a tablespoon or so. I do have some Southern Comfort which has a bit of a peachy flavor. Do you think it would work? Would it be peachy enough?
I bought a new ice cream maker for myself that only makes 1 1/2 pts.--perfect for one person. It works off a compressor so I don't have to take up freezer space to freeze the container first. I would like to make ice cream with Swerve sweetener which is a natural sugar substitute safe for diabetics. However, sugar is what gives ice cream it's texture once frozen--without it, you get a flavored block of ice. The Swerve website suggests adding a tablespoon of vodka to an ice cream recipe to keep the smooth texture and make it scoopable out of the freezer. I'm wondering if I could use Southern Comfort instead when I try a peach ice cream.

Birdy - Southern Comfort is whiskey based. I used to drink a Southern Comfort old-fashioned until I got away from sugary drinks...except for gin & tonic!! LOL Could you find one of those little bottles called "Nips". Amazon carries Peach extract link You could add some vodka (from a nip!) if you wanted.

As you can tell, I'm not a big "hard likker" drinker. Don't know why I bought the Southern Comfort but there it is in the cabinet! I thought of the mini bottles but peach schnapps doesn't seem to be in the selections in the stores. I may have to break down and try to find a reasonably small bottle of the schnapps. I can find the peach flavoring at the Mennonite bulk store. They have everything!
There is such a thing as diet tonic, Ann. :) I drink it to take care of leg cramps. It works but the tonic has to be very cold or I can't get it down. I keep the little 8-oz. cans in the fridge at all times.

Hi, Birdy! I now "dilute" my tonic water with seltzer water when I have a gin & tonic...half tonic water & half seltzer. I used to drink "diet", but I no longer drink diet drinks because of what I've read about them. I guess it's like having a wine cooler now!!!
