PRE HEAT OVEN 375
Use Lower oven rack
7 large tart apples
1 cup white sugar *
1 teaspoon cinnamon
CRUST
1/2 cup soft butter**
1 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup walnuts nuts
Peel and slice apples .Put in deep dish pie plate.
Mix white sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle on top of apples
In separate bowl mix butter with dry ingredients and nuts
Drop by teaspoons full all over top of apples
Bake for 45-50 minutes 375°F on lower oven rack.
*Can use sugar substitute for baking
**can use lite butter or margerine

I have made the apple pies with streusel topping before and they are good tasting. Love all the spices in fall desserts!

This is`nt quite like a streusel topping,more like a bumpy pie dough with nuts.That make sense ? Lol. Rosie

It seems like sometimes I need to bake it longer, the topping just don't look right so I bake it longer. I also don't do nuts, DH, can't eat them.

Carol,I bake the pie at 375 for about an hour on lower rack.That Might help you.I have a propane gas stove. Rosie
