Good morning friends. Sheri, so good to see you posting here. Hope you will stay with us.
Marlene, your workers are going to miss all those home cooked meals!
Lori, how are you feeling today?
Kay, I feel the same! I will purchase a huge amount of groceries but still cant find anything to eat.
Yesterday it didn't rain. In fact, it was 80* no humidity with a nice breeze. It's sunny and 68* at the moment. I read in the paper that there has been declared a state of emergency in 3 counties in south Jersey due to Hermione approaching.
Fried chicken, zucchini and homemade mac and cheese for dinner tonight.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning. 50 this morning and sunny. We have some really nice weather coming this week. Cool nights but around 80 during the day. Summer hasn't left us yet. Yesterday I got the meatballs into the freezer and they decided to start cleaning my shop at the back of the garage. It is a huge task. I have decided to keep some of my geraniums out there under lights this winter. I heat it so might as well take advantage of it. Got one small area done so now I can move all my potting soil from the garage into there for the winter. Also finally got this filthy house cleaned. Had a nice dinner with DS and gang and then they went off to the street dance in town and fireworks.
Today I plan to continue working on the cleaning of the shop. Not much else planned. Just finished updating the recipe index now need to get them transferred to here then I really need to get off this computer and get something done.
Have a great day.
Bet

Good Morning
Woke up this morning to an E Mail from DIL saying that our 5 year old grandson has broke his collar bone. Waiting on another E Mail with all the info . Poor little tyke. Black bear over in the neighbour's yard across the street. They have a plum tree but were out last week and picked them all, so he is out of luck. We live in a lake resort and this will be the last weekend for the summer residence as children have to go back to school on Tuesday. Then it becomes so quiet and peaceful. I love to see them all come out for the summer but then do so enjoy the serenity once they all leave. Tonight's supper will be chicken with sun-dried tomato cream sauce over broad egg noodles.

Good Morning ! Magnabay, so sorry about your DGS's bone break. He'll heal fast at that age. Would you share the chicken with sun dried tomato sauce recipe? It sounds delicious. I love sun dried tomatoes.
This morning has been a lazy one. We need to leave about noon and head over to Queechee State Park where our friend is working. We'll spend the day with her. I'm not sure where, but I plan to go by the Gorge. It's called the little grand canyon of Vermont.
Yesterday we managed to go and tour the Vermont Marble Museum which used to be the Vermont Marble Company. That is the company that my bff's father worked at almost 20 years, but in the Houston office. At one point that company was the largest employer in the world! About 4,000 employees at that point. We stopped for lunch at a small country place. DH got the prime rib sandwich and I got chicken parm. It was very good but there was so much! I brought half of it home. That took awhile at the restaurant because a group of 5 or 6 people got there right before us. We also went to Wilson's Castle-a large mansion built in 1867. It was after 5 when we left there. We drove through a couple places that were recommended. One of the places was a town called Stockbridge. It was right on the way home, so we slowed down and took a look-a quick look because there was only about 3 buildings and that was it. We thought it was strange that our friend Pat was saying how nice this little town was, when actually there was a Ford dealer and about 2 other clapboard buildings. We even took a dirt road a little ways up a hill. We got back home and had a very late supper-we ate at almost 8:30! I checked the list of places that Pat had written out for me (she and her DH were on a tour of New England last fall), and guess what. It was NOT Stockbridge, VT it was Stockbridge MASS that she raved about!! Silly me!
I tried to use the oven yesterday and it did not work once again. Luckily I was able to use the convection oven in the counter top microwave.
Need to go and get ready for the day. I suppose we'll eat something here at home before we go and then play it by ear the rest of the day. Have a nice day!!

Good morning, friends! Nice day happening again today...windows open.
Thanks for the birthday greetings! We had a good 'n busy day. The refrigerator AND the TV were delivered. I had the porch cleared, the kitchen ready with food in coolers, and our TV room ready. Took the guys about 2 hours to make all right. Love the new fridge. Even though it's 2 cu. ft. smaller, I have room to spare since I tossed a whole bunch of "old" stuff. The HD TV is awesome. The guys set it up for us including the clicker, etc. Still have more stuff to "relocate", but we'll just go slow.
Lori - UGH! Beginning of the school year cold!!! Oh, the misery!!
Tammy - LOL on the covered bridge getting "covered" by DH and you!!! Don't know which route you may have already chosen to get to The Cape, but driving route 119 (which is a scenic route in part) to 495 would put you in our area. Then it's pretty easy to get to Falmouth...a few choices to consider. There's an Italian restaurant on Rt. 93 in Andover, MA called the Chateau. It has a large parking lot, and the food is quite good. Let's see what is convenient for you and fits with your timetable. You'll love the Cape...we honeymooned there on Columbus Day weekend in 1974!!! The VCS that is near where you are, I'm pretty sure is the newer VCS, but it great. Have fun! Aldi's had St. Lewis style ribs on sale this week. I got a recipe from Steve Raichen's show "St. Louis Ribs with Vanilla-Brown Sugar Glaze" that I'm going to try. On the same show he made "Tuscan Onion Bombs" that I will make too. Both looked so good. Bet - Hope you get the sorting and arranging done! I hate the mess we still have, but I don't want to wear myself out fixing everything; it will get done!!! Tonight we are having "Parmesan Chicken Sandwiches"...another TOH recipe I picked to review. Waving to everyone...enjoy Sunday.

Just stopping by for a minute. No idea what we are having for supper tonight. Last night it was stuffed shells with spaghetti sauce topped with grated cheese, and mozzarella shredded cheese, Italian seasonings, and a dash of garlic powder. A tossed salad to go with it.
Nice bright sunny morning and overnight in 40's and high today of upper 70's. Great weather so far this weekend and headed for 80's all next week, so still summer here.

Chicken with Sun Dried Tomato Cream Sauce
This recipe comes from damndelicious.net. I don't know if that is where I copied it from or if someone posted it on Taste of Home. The sauce is so delicious.
8 bone in skin on chicken thighs salt and pepper to taste 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes ( I used 1/2 tsp 1 cup chicken broth ( I used 2 cups) 1/2 cup of heavy cream( I used 1 cup) 1/3 cup of julienned sun dried tomatoes in olive oil, drained 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan 1/4 tsp dried thyme 1/4 tsp dried oregano 1/4 tsp dried basil I used 1/8 tsp of each and then tasted to see if I wanted to add more, which I did not. It is up to you as to how much you would prefer 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chiffonade
Preheat oven to 400 Season chicken with salt and pepper Melt 2 tbsp butter in large oven proof skillet over medium high heat. Add chicken, skin side down, and sear both sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side, set aside Melt remaining tbsp of butter in the skillet. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in chicken broth, heavy cream, sun dried tomatoes, Parmesan, thyme , oregano , and basil, Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until slightly thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Return chicken to the skillet. Place into oven and roast until completely cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 175 degrees F, about 25-30 minutes. I serve this over broad egg noodles.
When I have company, I double the recipe , but I do not double the herbs ingredients. I learned this the hard way. They overpowered the sauce.

I said in the recipe that I added 1/8 tsp of the herbs and then tasted to see if I wanted to add more and I typed that I did. I meant to say that I did not want to add more. For me, 1/8 tsp was enough

Good Sunday morning to everyone. I'm moving very slow today as I didn't sleep much at all last night, just one of those nights I guess. I think it will be homemade macaroni and cheese, and jello for dessert today. I did have a lot of company yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it. I'm like the rest of you-- get a lot of groceries and still wonder what to eat. Oh my every time you turn around groceries are going up and my bill is higher. Well I better quit using this computer as an excuse to not to anything and get up and do something. If I get to far behind on my housekeeping seems to hard to catch up. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Hi everyone, I'm late getting here today as we went golfing this morning. The weather is beautiful - about 60 when we started but in the 70s now, no humidity - my kind of weather. It was the first time in quite a while that I walked the course. During the very hot weather, we have taken carts but to me it is not the same. Much prefer to get some exercise while I'm playing.
Hubby wanted to stop at the butchers for just a couple of burgers for us tonight - but they only had huge packs. Instead we got some cheeseburger sausages - sound interesting and more importantly - no work.
Have a great day.

We had individual turkey/gravy/dressing casseroles (from leftovers) for supper. Also, cranberries and a small green salad. Delicious. Happy Belated Birthday, Ann! Hope it was a good one. I've been doing laundry and tidying up while reading my Sunday papers. No rain today. May start a new book tonite or just play solitaire. Sweet dreams to all.
P.S. Marlene, Hubby took me to see the covered bridge in Winterset, Iowa, while we were dating. It was a surprise weekend and lovely.

The cheeseburger sausages were pretty good. Had them with baked beans. Can't get much simpler than that.
