Welcome to our Monday picture thread. We invite everyone to post the picture or pictures of your choice.
This week I hope to post a wildflower picture each day. I have enough for 4 days now and know where to get the 5th one so I should have enough. On a couple of the pictures I'm not sure of the name so I'll have to get some of you to help me out with that. Someone maybe like Melissa. Most of these wildflowers are full of nectar and attract lots of bees and butterflies. Todays picture I have no problem with the name. This is Joe Pye weed. Some of you grow this as a flower while here its extremely invasive and is considered to be a weed but it is a great butterfly attraction. Yes this picture was even taken at night.

We also have Joe Pye weed Steve. Ours however isn't invasive. I can't believe how tall ours has gotten this year. It has to be at least 10 feet tall. Ours seems to attract more bees than butterflies.
Marnee..............love the Four O'clocks. When i use to read all the water meters in town, i would collect seeds from the different ones that i would run into while walking around. lol

Steve-Joe pye can certainly thrive under the right conditions, tho it is a native species in your area and not invasive (tho that doesn't mean it won't take over...even natives can be a pain under certain conditions). If you want to control the spread remove the heads after it blooms which will prevent the seeds from floating off and planting themselves. Here is more info on it in your area. ncwildflower.org/plant_galleries/search_details/eupatorium-fistulosum-eupatoriadelphus-fistulosusMary-Nice 4 o'clocks! I just took this close up of a joe pye bloom last week. This plant is much shorter than the ones I got from Charlene and Larry. Strawberry gomphrena

Steve...I like the Joe Pye weed and as Larry and Melissa said...not invasive here. We do have ours plants in a safe area where it really can't go any where except into the road. The bees and butterflies do love it. I am sure Melissa can help you ID any plant you need help with....she sure knows her wildflowers. Mary...love the 4 o'clocks. I have mixed colors this year...guess I got the seed from Larry's journies around town...lol. Melissa....that is a different JPW. Love the red gomphrena. I did mixed seed and they are all white. Marge....I guess everyone is a little later getting around on Monday morning...lol. You are here earlier than usual. A couple of dahlias from my sister's gardens +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Charlene, I am so envious of your Dahlias. Wish I could have them again. It has ben 6 years since the JB moved in here and they eat every bud so I never get a bloom.

I'm just testing to see if I can get pics posted on here. This is my new variegated sedum that I planted a couple months ago and I see it's already starting to turn color. Well it appears I have figured out how to post pictures on here :D so once I can get my pictures reloaded I may be able to participate again. I just took my small camera out this morning to try. Didn't know where the pics would go either so it's been a real learning experience with Windows 10.

Marnee... Your 4 o'clocks are still looking good. Its nice having flowers like those that keeps blooming for quiet a while.
Larry... The Joe Pye weed really does attract a lot of pollinators. Every time I see them this time of your they are well covered butterflies and bees.s
Melissa... Nice picture of the Joe Pye Weed. They get pretty tall here too. I like that pretty red flower as well.
Marg... Looking forward to your pictures. I'm sure they'll be some good ones.
Charlene... Your sister has some big pretty dahlias. Guess I'll have to get some new ones for next year since mine didn't come back this year.
Gitti... Thats some beautiful begonias. I really do like that nice big white ones.
Lair... Your passion vine flowers are some real beauties. I grew them a couple of years on my garden fence but then they were coming up all over the garden so I got rid of them but may try them again in a year or two.
Gkids... Thats a nice looking sedum. I remember my Mom having some several years ago and they really attracted a lot of pollinators of all sorts which is a good thing..............Glad you got the picture posting working. Looking forward to more of your pictures.
Mary Mich... We would love for you to join in the fun by posting some pictures but in the meantime we'll glad to have you stop in a comment so we'll know you were here.
Gayle... Those day lilies are gorgeous. They are such a beautiful deep yellow.
Thanks everyone for todays great pictures and comments.
