Good evening. We had another thunder shower this afternoon that brought us 1.5" of rain. It looked pretty ugly for a while, but it was mostly all bluster.
The bird activity in the backyard has been something else today. It felt like a speedway with the hummingbirds zipping all around. The gold finches were making themselves to home on the volunteer sunflowers that are starting to die back. I do enjoy it when they find a flower in my garden they like! A pair of house wrens were hanging out in the backyard today also. I haven't seen them in a while. One went over to check out the basket that I hung sideways to double as a nesting box, but I doubt they will use it. It's too open, I'm sure. There is another mystery bird in the area that has the most interesting vocalization. I am going to have to spend some time on one of the birding sites that will allow me to listen to the calls and songs of birds likely in my area. This was definitely something I don't hear everyday - if ever before. It really made my day my hearing the new bird and seeing all of the others.
I'm going to be watching Big Brother here in a little bit. The cliffhanger on Thursday left me wondering what tonight will bring. I love a good cliffhanger!
Hope you all had a super Sunday. Wishing you a nice night.

Good evening everybody. I was just getting ready to start this so TY Karen.
It was a nice day here, sunny & warm. I didn't do anything special today. Just lazed around with the dogs. They didn't do anything either. I spent time on the computer, read, napped & I guess that was it. I did do some dead heading of Hydrangea, B'fly bush & Bee Balm. Made some notes on what I want to do with fence bed(s) next yr.
I was baby sitting my youngest brother's lab while he & SIL went out of town to visit a friend in the hospital. I could have worked some more on the d'way bed but decided to take a day off from that.
I'm only working 2 days next week so will be getting more done in the yard, I hope.

My "resident" Hummer is back after months of not seeing him...glad for that, he or she is the feisty one that I recognize it right away...no birds or butterflies, that's sad, I'm so happy for you Karen..I miss all the activity that I used to have in my Sanger's backyard (previous home)..I'm going to put outside some bird food again, just in case someone decides to come and visit

I decided to have a lazy day when I found how hot and humid it was early this morning. Canned some peaches this afternoon and picked another 10 oz of raspberries. Other than that, I've played some word games and read my book. Hubby was golfing with a buddy and had supper afterwards. It was a competition and he came home with not one, but 2 prizes!! Have a super Sunday night.

Not much happening in my neck of the woods. It was hot and humid so I stayed inside most of the day. Did some cleaning in the booth room. The booth room holds our inventory for our small antique business. We rent a spot along with 200 other people. Its fun and meet lots of people but it also a lot of work. I pulled some weeds this evening, but stopped so I can watch celebrity family feud.
Have a great evening.

Karen, its nice you get so many birds! I would probably see more if I hung feeders out but I dont want to do anything to encourage the danged squirrels, chippies, deer, etc to my little veggie garden area. I do get to see and hear wrens, catbirds, woodpeckers, etc. I hear the pileateds but never see them! I do sometimes see wild turkeys here! It was a nice, sort of warm, muggy day here today. Almost felt like storms could materialize but they didnt. Tropics are getting active now. I am concerned we could get an eastcoast hurricane this yr! Almost feels like it in the air somehow! My little veggie garden is still going! Watching qvc now, their shoe show is on. I need winter shoes! Not much else going on with me now. Just enjoying a relaxing Sun evening! Did I read that Bette finally quit her job? Good for her! LATER.

Hi! Quiet day here. Actually all I did was play on my IPad or so it seems. Had a rotten night & with it went any ambition I might have had.
Like Gayle we are dog sitting. Daughter & her family are away till late tonight. The border collie is not hard to look after at all. Barely know she is around unless she finds a reason to bark which is seldom.
Will have to get moving tomorrow as I have a dr.'s app't an hour away. Hopefully things are moving quickly at the clinic, not always so! Musn't forget to get a grocery list together tonight!
Have a good evening & a good night's rest.

Didn't do a whole lot today. We had dinner and meetings after church which I didn't know about so didn't cook anything. But I stayed anyway so I could be in the meetings that I needed to be in. So DGS and I didn't take a nap until way past his nap time, which means he may be awake for a while tonight.
After our nap I did a load of laundry and finished some dishes I had left yesterday from making the cookies before we left. At least I got some job searches done early this morning. Even though we may be going back full time soon, it is a requirement for drawing unemployment. In fact at least 2 of the searches each week have to be through their website and if you don't do those it will tell you when you try to file your claim for the week.
In the morning I have to take DGS to daycare and mow the lawn before it gets to 4hot, so I may not be here till lunch time.

Hi!!!! I'm late posting this evening. I just wanted to respond to one of the threads...mainly pets.
Talk about humid weather. My youngest son, wife, and grandkids picked me up, and we met up with my daughter, my two young grandson, and my 16 year old grandson who is here from Toronto visiting. We had a blast, but I must say my feet are killing me. It's a large amusement park and I do believe we did not miss any parts of it. I was so happy to have all 5 grandchildren together. The oldest I don't get a chance to see too often. Mind you this year, because I vacationed with him, oldest son, and DIL this summer, I got at least to see him a bit more. What a blessing these grandchildren are to me.
Now it's time to spend some quality time with my pets. I'm surprised they are not giving me the evil eye because I left them a good part of the day....lol, lol, lol.
Hope your day and your evening was nice!

Ah, now I understand about the job searches Leslie. I've BTDT before. No computer back them. You had a little card you had to fill out every 2 wk with name of company, contact name & phone #. Back then they used to put that info in newspaper ads & you could get by with that. None of the available jobs were in my field of "expertise" anyway. If I remember correctly you could use the same info twice but not in the same 2 wk. period. We were preparing to move out of the area soon so I wasn't really looking too hard.
And I remember my Mom doing the same thing when I was a teenager. She worked in Dollar General & in the winter when business was slow they would lay people off. Everybody on the island did that back then so nobody was hiring but she was required to look for employment anyway. Hard to job hunt when there is no place to "hunt".

I am just stopping by to tell all of you "goodnight". Lily stopped by this evening for a visit and didn't leave until almost dark. It was nice catching up with her. Since then I have been winding up my day and making plans for the new week. See you in the morning! Charlene
