Thanks to everyone for the kind words about the new bed that Charlene and I started. Thanks too Charlene for doing the posts for me. I didn't even realize that she had taken that many. LOL See how observant i can be. lol
I will probably be changing some things around however. I didn't realize how much rain that coming off the roof and it can be hard on the plants below. There aren't any rain gutters. I have already moved 2 of the hosta's. Guess i never noticed when those bushes were there.
Thanks again everyone!!! This is truly the place to be!!!!................................larry

You did a great job on your new bed. I have some hosta plants and daylilies in front of the house under a overhang. When it really rains hard the hosta will be in standing water until the rain water dissipates, Haven't lost one yet.

I don't have gutters on my house either. You learn to plant either in front of or behind the "drip line". Hasn't been a problem yet.
Of course if that is an area where it comes off like a waterfall from the roof then you will need to re-think. LOL I have one spot like that & it is right over my back door so nothing planted there but I try not to open that door during a heavy rain. You feel like you are standing behind Niagra Falls if you do.

Welcome, I don't have much planted under the roof line, my house is just set up too funny. I also have gutters on the front of the house and the back of the house.
Good to know about the rain coming off the roofs, will tell DD about that.
