Kathy...................i was reading your post from the chit chat last night. I too had a pair of glasses like that. I had to literally move my head to read an entire line when reading a sentence. I put up with that for 3 years and then finally went somewhere else and got new glasses. The guy told me that i would get use to it too but never did. Sort of ticked me off. I had gone locally to buy glasses and never went back there again. Besides they were twice the price of the next pair i got......................larry

Good morning.
High 80s for today. Our 80% chance of rain is now only 30%, grr.
Didn't sleep well last night so I am tired this morning. I may need to take a nap after work. I will probably only work 7 hours today.
Have a good one.

Good morning. 49 and sunny this morning. Last night after work I got 2 more quarts of tomatoes canned and that was about it for the day. Just work for me today. Nothing else going on here. Seems that all I do is eat sleep and go to work. That is getting old. About 8 weeks left of work. I will be glad when it is over but do need the extra money so goes life.
Have a great day.

Good morning. High in the low 90s today but they say not as humid. I'll be inside so won't matter until late this afternoon. Have to go by the store for a few things after I pick up DGS and then like you, Bette, the same old routine, especially with a toddler. Fix supper, clean up, bath, prepare for the next day, etc, etc, and off to bed. I miss the days when I could just relax after work, especially if it has been a stressful day. But I will have those again. Of course, necessity has motivated me to stay off the sofa. Maybe that 8 lbs they say I lost was in the last 8 weeks!
I need to make a list of all the things I want to get done next week if it is to be my last week off. First is cleaning and bleaching the deck to prepare for painting it. I do hope DGS is back with his parents by seed starting time this winter.
Better get busy. Have a good day.

A bright and sunny 57 right now and close to 80 by the afternoon. It was lovely out when I filled up the feeders a few minutes ago. Another canning session for me this morning so no time to stop and chat.

Good morning everyone. Chilly wind here this morning, but promises of a nice day later. It certainly is difficult to know how to dress in the morning.
I am meeting 4 high school girl friends for coffee this morning. We seldom are able to get together, so I am looking forward to it. This afternoon/early evening, I am going with my sister and her garden club to tour a garden. Both of my trips involve traveling north to Minnesota.....not that far, though.
Leslie...glad to hear that you will be returning to work full time, but I am sure your days will just fly by. If I had to keep up with a 2 yr old, I bet I'd drop some pounds, but I think I will try to find another way to do it...lol.
Dave...I also enjoyed your pics yesterday. My Mom used to grow hubbard squash. Glad you can post from your phone. Like your new avatar as well.
Bette...I seriously do not know how I got things done around here when I was working full time. Years ago I often had 2 full times job, 2 kids, and managed to get things done. Guess my age is showing.
Kathy...sorry you didn't sleep well. Hope you can get a nap and keeping my fingers crossed for some rain to come your way.
Tasty...I don't can any more. I did cook and cut up some beets yesterday to freeze....but only a few quart bags. I was given the beets....we don't grow them.
Robin...enjoy your day with lower humidity. Did you get those stumps all chopped out? Lots of hard work. Have a great day everyone. Charlene

Good morning. 64 going to 82 they say today. There is a really nice breeze coming in right now. Last night the breeze was just perfect as I was sitting on the couch by the window. Warm but not too warm, smelled like the woods, just the right amount of breeze. I could have sat there forever except I would have been sleeping so forced myself to go to bed.
Today I have a home visit at 12:30. Will be an easy one as I had this family last year (sibling). I have 2 scheduled for tomorrow already too, so I'm making progress. Once I take dd to volleyball I will go in to work and work in my classroom for a while. Little dd said she may want to come with.
We did a trailer load of wood at our friends last night. This is the first time I've been there since the storm. I can not believe the damage and the mess. It will take a long time to clean this up. We will not run short on wood for a while, tho may run out of time to get it done before my brother wants his splitter back. It took an hour and a half for dh to cut a trailer of wood and load it with ds's help, and its not split yet, so pretty time consuming but free heat is always good.
Leslie-Good news about work. Fingers crossed it all works out.
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Good Morning. Phone woke me up early so I have a little time to squander before leaving for work. I can leave any time I like but don't like to leave too late. It just means getting home that much later & no time to do anything here.
Definitely cooler today. Only 67º about 1/2 ago (8:30) but as soon as the sun gets over the trees it will warm up.
GKs started school yesterday. Max is now in Middle School & the school is within walking distance so no more bus. It's probably no more than a 5 min. walk, but it is on a very busy road with just a narrow sidewalk to walk on so parents are a little nervous about him walking to school. Especially since he will be walking alone. His Dad wanted to take him & pick him up but Max didn't like that idea. LOL He can cut through the park behind his house but I don't know if that is any safer or not. When we were kids our parents never worried much about us walking to school or anywhere really but things are different these days.
No specific plans other than work today.
Larry, what are corn lilies?

Good morning. It is very pretty outside to start our day. I think our high today will be in the lower 80s and the humidity will be low. Sounds about perfect to me!
I'm not sure what I will do today. Nothing of any urgency on the horizon, so I guess it will be more of the same old same old, just a different day. Thank goodness the same old same old is not bad stuff.
Leslie, I'm glad to hear your news about work picking up for you. It's going to mean more adjusting, though, isn't it? You've been working part-time for a while, so even just the physical differences will be noticeable. I hope there isn't too big of a back log of work to catch up on, coupled with the rigors of full-time operations now. Best wishes on it all.
Enjoy your visit with your high school friends, Charlene!
Kathy, sorry about your sleep last night. Hope you can get a nap in later today.
You present an age old problem in your post, Bette, being so glad when work is over, but missing the money that goes with that work. Wouldn't it be nice if there were an easier way?
Robin, wasn't last night great sleeping weather in our neck of the woods? This is the way I'd love life to be most of the time. I'd like one month of winter and one month of summer. Other than that, I'm all about spring and fall. LOL!
You painted a wonderful mental picture, Melissa, of sitting by your window last night and smelling the woods. Divine! I hope you get things taken care of with the wood situation. It sounds like a lot of work, but what a nice thing to have over the winter!
Gayle, it feels kind of crazy that Max would be in Middle School now. The speed with which kids are aging these days is crazy! I'm sure it isn't any different than it ever has been. It just seems like in my head nothing changes for me, but really changes for those around me. Perhaps I need to look in the mirror, eh? :D
Happy canning, Tasty!
Well, guess I better go start on something. Have a terrific Tuesday, folks!

Good morning everyone! It is 64* right now, but slowly climbing. Looks like summer is not over. After yesterday's cool weather, I think I will just accept more hot weather....Wish I made up my mind...goes with the Gemini syndrome.....lol
Yesterday I decided to take walking my dog seriously. We are both on an exercise program.....Well I need to lose more weight, and he needs to diversify his daily routine...! After breakfast we took a long walk. I had to go to the bank afterwards, and then to the pharmacy. They were not too impressed with me as I have not been taking my eye drops. After last week my doctor scolding me....I will do this religiously every day from now on.
The electrician is coming over before lunch to install the light fixture he removed last week. It's pretty, and I can use it in the guest room. I finished my dragonfly sweater....now to block it and sew up the seems. I will try to post a picture of this new project.
Have a nice day.

Larry, what are corn lilies? I am not Larry...but the lilies he calls corn lilies are what I refer to as orange ditch lilies. They are in the day lily family but more of a wild invasive form. We had some in a shady spot...take one guess what he is going to plant where those lilies were? If you guessed "hostas", you are right. LOL Charlene

We had a fun time canning this morning. I wonder if the brandy in the mincemeat had anything to do with that? I still do some canning for home Charlene, but I have a very hard time 'guesing' how much 2 seniors will use of any one thing over the next 12 months -LOL. Hence I have way more stashed in the basement and the freezers than we need. (Watch for the Pantry Challenge on the Cook's Crock).
The canning we do as a group will be sold at our local Festival of Trees to benefit the local hospital.
