Good evening.
I'm not sure how warm it got today, all I know it was hot while working but outside felt bearable since we have a nice wind.
I got my new glasses today and I cannot see very well with them at all. The distance I can see okay starts at about 3 feet and ends at about 6 feet and the bifocals I have to hold what I am reading in one spot only a foot away from my eyes. Everything else is blurry. They said I just need to get used to them since my eyes had changed quite a bit...I don't think so. I told them I would give them 3 days and then I want a new pair.
I have supper in the oven, BBQ ribs, baked beans and baked potato. I also made a cucumber, tomato and onion salad.
Not sure what I will do tonight. Charlene I saw that I missed a phone call from you so if you will be home I will give you a call back later.

Good evening. As expected, our weather was delightful today. I got outside and took a few pictures, but a lot of my blooms are on their way out so the pics are not very good. While I was out in the yard, I decided that I would cut a few of the volunteer sunflowers and put them in a water bottle to take to the cemetery for DStepD. DSis#4 loves sunflowers and is out of town today so I put them out on the grave for her when DH and I visited this afternoon. We took out my dish of caladium that I've been growing next to the garage. I think DH would rather I have kept them where they were, but I told him that I got the bulbs and grew them for DStepD in the first place. They just were not ready to go out to the cemetery for his birthday in April. DM has told me a few times that caladium is the only flower that DStepD ever commented on. When I heard that, I knew he had to have some this year. I'll probably always grow it now and think of him.
That is pretty much my day. I did do some laundry in between the other things. I didn't do well with supper tonight, but I have ground turkey out thawing for tomorrow night's meal. For me, that is half the battle right there.
Kathy, I have always had trouble with my glasses right after I got new ones. Bi-focals are a stinker to adjust to, in my opinion. I am in need of new ones myself, and I am not looking forward to the change because of the adjustment period I know is coming.
I hope everyone had a good day. Wishing you all a nice night!

Karen what I don't understand about adjusting to these glasses is that I have worn glasses with bifocals for at least 8 years and get a new pair every year and I have never had this problem.

You do WAY better than me then, Kathy. I haven't had new glasses in a number of years. No wonder I have trouble adjusting. You wouldn't think that your eyes would have changed that much in a year, would you? Hmmm ...

Kathy - I first got glasses about 20 years ago because I was seeing spots before my eyes. Now I can see the spots a whole lot clearer. LOL. Good luck with your new glasses. -Rick -

Hi there friends.
Kathy I got new contacts and the eye doc talked me into using contacts where one has the bifocal in it, but the distance will be a bit different. I will not be able to see as far as I will be able to with the other contact. I guess it works like Monovision but a bit different because they now make contacts with bifocals in them..LOL. I really need new glasses. Right now I am going to try out the contacts before buying them. I agree if you cannot get use to them then take them back.
It has been a comfortable day here and I am going outside as soon as I get off of here to weed whack along the drive that leads down to the walkout basement where the crownvetch grew. The weeds have vegetated into the rock and after cutting down the vetch I have to weed it all out. Fun! Not! Anyhow, the weather is perfect to be able to do this, and evenings have been optimal for weeding and deadheading. So that is what I am going to do. It is suppose to be a nice day tomorrow too. I figured out the avatar which was not too difficult. My grandson is in college now and soon will be searching for a career in Police work. He works as a Security officer at Lambeau Field for the Packer Games which will give him some experience before getting into the meat of what he wants to be…a Police Officer.
Well I best get outside and get something done. Tomorrow we are tackling basement work once again. I will be putting up some raspberries. I made some applesauce today. I am off to a good start canning for the season.

Kathy, I too have bifocals, or the no line type. Have for years. I know exactly what you mean about messed up lenses, I have had that a couple times. When glasses and lenses are right, it makes for a smooth transition from one pair to the next. One time all they had to do was adjust the frames so they sat proper, the other teo times, the lenses, or script was totally wrong. Get em fixed now, don't want to mess the peepers up any more. Good evening. We've had lovely weather here today. It was in the 50s early this morning but soon warmed up and it has been about 70. Unfortunately I didn't get out to enjoy it too much. Instead I was searching for a dress to wear for our son's wedding. Enough said right now!
Whenever I get new glasses, they go in my purse for the journey home. Put them on when I get up the next day and never have a problem. If I change glasses during the day I end up with a headache, change first thing - no problems.

Kathy, even though it usually takes some adjusting to new lenses, it shouldn't be that bad. I got some through work one time and they were like that. I couldn't stand it so after a bit of convincing I got them to send them back. The replacement ones were right, so I knew for sure then that they just messed up. It happens, and sounds like that could be the case for you.

Kathy, even though it usually takes some adjusting to new lenses, it shouldn't be that bad. I agree Leslie and that is exactly what I told them. While I am trying to get used to them I will wear my old glasses when I am driving otherwise I may end up killing myself or someone else. Good one Rick!

It was back to work today and rumor has it that after our off week next week we will be going back full time. So I won't have time off but will be back to a full paycheck. Our unemployment would run out in a few months so that makes that news even better.
But that means we will now be really busy and we already have work piling up. The powers that be don't realize that the slow production time we had was the best time for the engineering dept to work and get caught up on things. We have work that should have been completed 2 years ago. Hopefully if things pick up more they will hire a few people.
Going to try to get to sleep early tonight since I was up so late last night.

Hello everyone. I was here earlier and when I read that Kathy wanted to visit on the phone....we did just that. We had a lot of plant problems to solve...lol. Kathy...forgot to tell you that you need to pursue the glasses problem...can't mess around with your eyes. My friend had her eyes checked a short time ago and just got new lenses put in her old frames like you did. She was constantly going back because she just couldn't see. They finally discovered they had the lenses backwards (meaning left eye and right eye switched around). Once they switched them she can see just fine.
I got my work done in my shop be a little after 2 this afternoon. We went to visit DD and left the present for her fiancee since he was going to be late coming home from work.
The weather was decent today except for a strong wind. I had lots of plants to tip up and water to try to wight them down and hold them upright.
Glad to see Lily posting on the VIP this morning.
I am off to bed shortly...see you all in the morning. Charlene

I'm back. A little late for some but not for me. I'm a night owl as most of you already know.
Got home from work around 3:30 & by the time, I uploaded pictures, cleaned out my e-mail. filed reports & printed out paper work for tomorrow it was supper time.
I put away laundry before I fixed my supper & afterward I pulled down my screen room. It's several yrs old now & the roof is no longer waterproof & it developed 2 large tears somehow over the weekend. Also the screen is ripped in a couple of spots. Time to go. I'll be experimenting with something different next yr. All I need is a little shade & a waterproof covering for the top. In anoter month or so I'll be putting up the GH on the frame anyway.
Leslie good that your company is going back to full time. My Merchandising company apparently lost their contract with Family Dollar & we won't be doing any more work in those stores after today. A loss of about $75 mo for me but more for the reps that work in areas with more stores than 1 or 2. The really shi--y part about it is they didn't even tell us this was coming. My friend & I both heard it from store managers last week. There has not been any actual notification from the company we work for at all.
Kathy, I agree about the glasses. New ones sometimes take a little time to get used to but they shouldn't be that bad. I've had Bifocals over 20 yr. now & never had any problem adjusting to them except for looking over my shoulder to back up. Then I saw double. I once got new glasses & when I went to pick them up, they gave me this card to read. I couldn't read it at all. When I said I can't read this, they thought I was joking. Turned out they misread the Rx & had to do it over.
