Good Morning, Wow its cool, we have 53* and going to a high of 73*, we will take it, after all that heat some cool temps is going to feel great, just need to feel like doing something. I was awake early again this morning, 5:30, trip to the bathroom, then I couldn't get back to sleep. Got up a little after 7 fixed the coffee and the darn chickens were under my bird feeder in the back, pulled back the drapes and off they went. They are a big pain, I haven't seen the man in a week, I do think he is a nut job and maybe in a clinic for depression. He made such a mess of the yard and never finished cleaning it up. People in the neighbor are complaining about him, but we get most of the crap from him. Good thing lots of space between us. Going to go and get some food today, my refrig is really empty, must be I didn't cook a lot last week, did do dinner yesterday so I have that left over in the refrig. No fresh fruit, so I need to load up on that item. Also need to stop at Kmart and get Rays meds. Sorry I'm boring, didn't do a thing yesterday it rained off and on most of the day, first the sun would be out and then it would rain, just too wet to get out in the yard to do anything.
Leroy, I bet people were out enjoying the cool temps and had a bonfire. We cut our apple tree suckers in the spring. I have never shopped at Aldi.
Lair, That's how I feel when typing on my tablet, so hard to type, I can't get comfortable typing, almost have to peck. Shoe box size is great, wish ours was smaller. Now you can fill up that space. Good job on using the old keyboard.
3gkids, yes I'm going to wear a sweatshirt this morning to the store, I know the store will be cold especially in the frozen food section. I did use my oven yesterday first time all summer. I can put lasagna on the menu for this week.
Mary, Sorry about your husband friend, I hope you can get him to talk. I know I couldn't with Ray. Wow a brand new car how nice. Nothing wrong with dickering.
MaryinMichigan. Sorry I missed you the first time around yesterday, that's what the post was about. Not Carol Johnson.
Well we missed a few yesterday, hope to see you today.

It's a Good Morning, I am posting from my new computer. Outside it is 55* and very sunny. Going to be close to 80 this afternoon. Sounds like a good day for me to get out there and pull some weeds but it is still a bit brisk. I would like to play here but I have been so lazy for the past few days I can't. Tim was up early this morning and Andy came over a little after 7 so they are gone to the hospital. Tim is having that tube and pump put back in today so I am glad I asked Andy to drive him and be with him. I just hope the day doesn't get too long for Andy. I'm not liking this, I have gotten 2 requests since I started this from Norton wanting to run virus checks. I just installed it last night so I shouldn't need that yet. Sad news for me on the old computer. The tech told me there were no files on the hard drive. NONE, he couldn't even tell what operating system it was. He said it didn't even have a language so nothing could be found on there. I said the FBI do it all the time. He said the FBI has a lot more money and they never tell you about the times thye find nothing. So now I have to go through all the back up discs I have to find what pictures and documents I might have and can save. That should give my brain a real work out. I really want to find pictures of Tim and his Dad before his Dad passed plus some pics of my departed pets. Will see what I can find and test my computer skills. I'll have to do that in the evenings or cold winter days.
Carol, my fridge is empty too. Just a lot of stuff that sounded good to Tim and then he never ate any of. I will have to toss that because his tastes and mine or almost opposite. Sounds like we have the same weather.
Mary in MI, how's the sale coming. Is it going to be this coming weekend? I hate to think about that but it is something I will have to be doing. I did start some downsizing a while back and I need to get started at it again.
Leroy, after almost 22 years I am still reading my owners manual I still have to look things up from time to time. glad you got some cooler weather.
Snow, glad to see you and Jade got away for some rest. I'm sure you both love the down time together.
3gkids, glad to see you posting daily. We have very similar weather. Sure feels like fall here today and I am wondering if winter can be far behind. Seems a little cool for August to me. The lasagna sounds good.
Mary, sorry about your DH friend but good he didn't have to suffer a long time. Funny haw some friendships can go bad so easy. I had a friend once and we were so close until we went on vacation together. He wanted to watch a soap opera and I wanted to lay on the beach. We had a fight and have never spoke since. It has been 40 plus years.
Jan, is Allen felling better? Sounds like he is still keeping active but will he be able to drive again or don't you know? I hope there is something he can enjoy if he can't drive. Still job hunting?
Grace, What's going on in your neck of the woods today? Looks like we have 10 good days coming our way.
Angela, I'm wishing I had some of your skills when I am working on this new computer. I guess trial and error will have to do for now. I do have a friend in Colo. that is really good but when we start talking computer he may as well be speaking French. I only understand 1 out of 4 words and we only talk on the phone so it is almost impossible to get anything solved.
Well, I'll say HI to everyone else and hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Carol, Grace, Lair, and All, It was a quiet day yesterday. DH was out in his shop tightening down the screws in his new floor. I checked on him out the window several times and saw him just sitting there looking down numerous times. I know what's on his mind. Only he can deal with this because there is nothing I can say that will make it go away or make it better. I'm a good listener and my kids have told me I should have been a counselor because I give good advice. Yeah, but he has to talk before I can listen. I know his own mortality has probably crossed his mind also. DH quit drinking a few months before I met him Feb. 2 of 1980. He stopped smoking in the late 80s after our son was born. His friend never stopped either. The drinking is a lot of what led to his divorce; the smoking contributed to the bad health. I don't know if DH is a pall bearer or not. He told me he said no, but I thought he told our DD that he was; I'm not asking. I'm thinking he's having some real conflicts and lots of soul searching with this whole situation. Well, enough of that downer talk.
I went out and deadheaded flowers and chased crabgrass yesterday afternoon. I decided that the neighbors that have little bitty dogs needed to know about the fox. I've seen these little dogs put out on leash or loose, so I didn't want them becoming prey. They were all glad I told them. I also told them about the 2 coyotes that were seen up the street by the neighbor. It's amazing what info you hear back. Our neighbor, Brian, told me that the people behind him have chickens. I questioned if that was legal, and he said they can have up to 6. Now we know why the fox is around. I had already been told that there was a fox den north of town but he said it was somewhere up by Dave's Tire which is about 8 blocks away and the edge of town. Yup, that's right by Northgate housing and across from the softball complex, and the airport. He also told me that a farmer out by his parent's farm south of town saw a cougar. It came right up to his 4 wheeler. The wife is scared to death now. He also said someone had a cow come home with half its left ear missing and the left side of its face all tore up. I swore I saw one as a teenage, so that doesn't make me feel any better. About a year ago, my brother and his friend both saw a bobcat run across the road while driving home one night. The DNR denies this stuff goes on; they always say we don't have this stuff (on a regular basis). They did put out a report that a bear was spotted down at Yellow River Forest Reserve. They didn't want campers leaving food for it. Later it was reported that this same bear was hit and killed by a car. We get about one a year going through. We aren't that far from the Minnesota border, so why wouldn't we get them. The cougar is probably the same deal. ILUV (Lisa) from the old BYC was told they have a den not to far from her country home. She lives about 90 min. SW of Minneapolis, Minn. He mentioned someone else thought they had a weasel in the hen house. It killed all the laying hens and ate just the heads. It could have been a few different critters, but who knows. I almost sound like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, "Cougars, and Foxes, and Bears OH MY!" Gosh, I'm just full of good news today aren't I.
School starts tomorrow, so we'll see kids walking by and the crazy parents driving by. They created a walking bus last year. Parents can drop their kids off at a certain spot and they all walk together to school. There are adults that walk with them and keep them under control and safe. St. Pat's Catholic grade school is 4 blks. to the south of us. Up the street to the west is East Elementary (3/4 blks), West Elementary is just across the highway (8 blks), and the Jr. high and High school are right beside it and cover the next 4-5 blocks. The busses have to drop off country and outer edge of town kids at all of these schools. Ya, you learn to just stay out of the way when this is all going on. LOL
Carol, I wish I could send this fox to visit those chickens. Your problem would be eliminated fast.
Gosh, it's 10:30, I need to get moving. I do need to mow the lawn today, but gotta check out some other stuff first, maybe move some more dirt.

Morning all! Thought I was losing my marbles since the site was looking quite foreign! Didn't realize I was logged out till I went to post! Forgot that I cleared out cookies last night & of course that means no saved logins. Better be remembering my passwords now!!!
Sorry I didn't get here yesterday. Don't really know where the day went but went it did. Neighbours popped in mid afternoon & can they talk!!! Of course, that threw me off my schedule & left me scrambling to get supper as my daughter & gdaughter were coming to join us. It all worked out in the end but I hate to be rushed.
Lair, sorry to hear that your files aren't recoverable. Sure hope you can find what you are looking for on your backups. If your luck is like mine you'll find those on the very last backup! 😊 My computer is just a little guy like your new one. Sure takes little space. If mine kicks the bucket I may well not replace it as I can do most everything on my IPad.
Today will be around 82°, quite the change after these past two chilly days. Sure did feel like fall. Wore a sweater all day & Ray dared to mention turning the furnace on for a quick blast! I think not especially in August & when we have had a/c on for days. Glad he got over that brain wave! LOL
Well, better boogie here & get a few things done before the heat hits. It's still quite comfortable in here. See you all later.

Taking a short break here. What interesting reading! No time to write much but I did ho to the store earlier and was not gone long at all. Too much to do here. I did buy a huge watermelon. Check out girl lifted it out of cart and into the car. On way home I am thinking how stupid that was of me because, how will I ever get that thing out of the trunk and into the house. Normally I drive in to the garage and hoist it on to a near by table. Can't get in the garage now. Preparing for my sale.
Bright idea!! Rolled watermelon on to folded news papers and cut it in half right there in the car. Lol
to the kitchen counter?

When I had an excess of melon - that didn't get shared with A FRIEND - THEN I CUT IT INTO 5/8" cubes and put them into the small snack bags and freeze. Good on a hot day. Did it with pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes. A friend in Boone, IA - taught me that 56 years ago. we could get green grapes on sale for 10cents.
Was cool and breezy here this AM. Going to be a hot afternoon - so I'll stay inside. Still have the30 pots to water here. Still haven't decided what to do with the big hoya plant.
I read more than I post - still very hard for me to figure it all out. But I'm still working on it.
Hi to all. Alma

Good late afternoon folks. Just popped in to see what everyone has been doing today. We just got back awhile ago after having to spend too many hours at the UW because they apparently over booked or something. Dr. was running over 1 hr. late. Oh well, will not be returning there. Had a 6 mo. checkup from emergency major surgery I had in late January and couldn't have it done here. That chapter of my life is now closed and I say, "good bye" to it. Supposed to start warming up a bit again this week but still not hot like before. Mornings are really cool--almost cold--but it does warm up nicely during the day. It's sure been great sleeping weather with the windows open and fresh air at night.
It's been a long day, you know up early, out the door and then it's hurry up and wait and wait. I'm thinking I'll go sit in front of the tv and "rest my eyes" as dh says when he snoozes off. :D
Enjoy the rest of the day all.

ALma, I am going to experiment with a bit of the melon. I do recall now having done that with cantalope years ago. Gone are the days of low prices on food. I remember long ago when tokay grapes were 25 cents a lb. And I bought an entire case. Gave some to my brother who also loved them.
this watermelon is my 5th. This summer. My dog and I will finish it off in just a few days.
