Good morning! I was going to drive to the Salem senior center for a visit this morning, but the weather broadcast mentioned 'black ice' so I'm not venturing out. Lots of slides and slip offs already reported. Tomorrow is supposed to be a messy travel day on the roads with accumulating snow. Had a wonderful lunch with friends yesterday. Bill and I had salads so we ordered salmon for dinner. Not sure what we'll do for dinner yet. The Baldwin has gone all out decorating for the holidays...beautiful Christmas trees with white lights were being put together for all of the common areas by a well known florist from the area. The outside light posts are decked in greens and lights. Excitement is building for the turkey mixer this afternoon. Lots of folks were walking around looking for the turkeys. I spotted some, but not nearly as many as others who took the hunt very seriously! Turkey shaped cookies and other goodies will be on the refreshment table! Hope those not feeling up to par feel better today. Stay safe. Enjoy the day. Waving!

Good morning friends.
Ann- Better to stay home with weather like this. We have very icy roads here too. No real plans here except to sew! LOL
We have a heavy snow warning for today into tomorrow. Dinner last night was left over turkey and mashed potatoes with the last of the squash. Not sure about tonight yet either.

Good morning and hello to all! Before I hop into the shower, I wanted to pop in and just wish everyone a great day!
DD somewhat changed plans for pick-up of DGD today. Rather than meet in Naples, she asked if we'd be willing to meet just a bit north at a mall. DD thought she'd surprise DGD and take her inside Bass Pro to see Santa. I told Grandpa to make sure he has some "green" in his wallet! LOL
After a few days of cooler temperatures, the heat and humidity are returning. However, the cooler temperatures will be back next week, nights in the 40's.
Hope those under the weather are doing better this morning. Waving, I need to run. Lori

Good morning.
Mandy was in no hurry this morning. Too many distractions. Her meeting was unproductive so no treat when we got home. I wanted to get the golf cart on the charger by 7 but that didn't happen. So now she will have to wait until it is charged before we go "out" again.
It is really surprisingly nice this morning and so very dark. The temp is 63º and I went out very over dressed. Sometimes 63º will feel chilly and sometimes not so bad. Not bad this morning because the dew point and humidity are higher for this time of year. I've turned off the furnace and left this door open. Mandy is on the porch pouting.
Besides make the stuffing I need to check the water softener, and wash the bedroom rugs. The turkey is not yet thawed so it is on the counter and will go in the sink with cold water shortly. I also want to make some tapioca pudding. That may be my Thanksgiving day dessert.
Ann, the turkey hunt sounds like a lot of fun.
Chris, somehow I just knew that you would be sewing today. Good idea to stay home with the roads so bad.
Lori, what fun to join in on the visit with Santa. Oh how I remember those days. Now they are just good memories. Enjoy, enjoy!!!!!
Time to get my butt up and get to the turkeys baptism. LOL

Hey everybody. Our drive to DMIL's took longer than usual last night due to lots of traffic + road construction. At least we had a good meal! We've found a great little "mom & pop" diner just off the interstate in Newberry, SC so decided to stop for dinner there. I had their Chicken Melt sandwich and it was extra good -- a big juicy grilled chicken breast with grilled onions and cheese on buttered Texas toast.
Today I've been helping get ready for tomorrow and tonight. DMIL makes her cornbread dressing by hand, from crumbling the cornbread to mixing in the eggs, sauteed vegetables, and chicken broth until it "feels right." So that's ready to bake tomorrow.
Then I mixed up spaghetti sauce and have it in the crockpot with meatballs and browned ground beef for supper tonight with DH's brother & sister & spouses. Thanksgiving dinner will be at his sister's house, around noon, and we'll leave after that to head back home.
Elaine, I hope you are feeling better, but if not, take care of yourself. Somebody else can help with dinner.
Lori, have safe travels and fun times with Lilith!
Ann & Chris, I'm glad y'all can stay in and avoid rhe icy roads. Bet, I hope you don't have to get out today.
Mamma, we're having warm weather today but it's going to turn colder by the weekend. Might even have a thunderstorm tomorrow.
Helen, wishing the same to you, and to us all!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve ! I have managed to stay busy getting ready for company. After lunch I made a trip to town and got those frozen cinnamon rolls, also extra broth to cook noodles in. It is a gray and breezy day with a high of 70 I believe.
Hope those feeling under the weather are better.
Ann, the Baldwin sounds so lovely with the holiday decor. Have a fun time today.
Chris, glad you are able to stay in again. Hope you come up with something delicious for supper. I just put a roast on. Later I will add potatoes and carrots. One of my favorite meals but also one I have not made in probably a couple years because of DH's diet restrictions.
Lori, enjoy every moment with DGD.
Bet, hope your day is going well.
Mamma, I don't have to worry about turkey this year. I talked to DS earlier. He plans on getting up early and getting the turkey into the fryer. We'll plan on eating dinner about 1.
Take care Elaine. Don't exhaust yourself.
Elza, I also make all the stuffing ingredients from scratch. I have never made it in advance though! Nice thought, that I may try.
DH was hoping to take off by 3 today. I'm sure he's tired so he can nap if he wants when he does come home. Noodles are made, so nothing left to do except sweep and mop.
Waving to everyone. Stay safe and healthy friends.

Tasty, hang in there. You always come through with your head held high in the end. I know the feeling of stress when you are reaching the deadline. Mine isn't to the magnitude of what you do but once a month on Sunday I start to worry if I am going to pull this meal off by 6:30 Monday night. Hope you have great weather so people are out and about.
Ann, your activities for today sound great and you will have a great time. We need to see some pictures of the area decorated for Christmas.
Chris, we have escaped any bad roads so far but I am afraid tomorrow isn't going to be too pleasant. They have upped the snowfall to a possible of 6". Your pies sound great. Are you cooking dinner at your house or Brian's tomorrow? Hope weather is good for the show on Saturday.
Lori, I am sure you are with Lilith by now and having a great time. I am sure she will be excited about seeing Santa.
Mamma, sorry Mandy wasn't so cooperative this morning. Isn't is amazing how they can mop just like kids when they don't get there own way? Tapioca pudding something I haven't had in years. Enjoy your dinner tomorrow.
Elaine, enjoy having cookie for a few days. I know the feeling about the cold meds kicking in. I had the same problem all day. Felt like crap until about 4 o'clock then it was just too late to get into doing the things that needed to be done. Hope all goes well with the dinner at the clubhouse and maybe you get a little more help.
Helene, I'm with your. Leftovers from last night for dinner tonight. Simple chicken broccoli stir fry over lemon rice.
Elza, sorry the drive yesterday took longer than usual but your dinner sure sounded great. I am with your DMIL about making the dressing/stuffing completely by hand. Only way to go. It is great that you are also making dinner for the entire family tonight. Sounds like a nice crowd.
Tammy, sounds like you meals are all under control for the holiday. What kind of broth do you cook you noodle in?
It hasn't been the greatest day here. Meds just didn't kick in this morning and I finally laid down for a couple of hours this afternoon. I feel pretty good now that it is almost time to go to bed. I did get quite a bit of computer work done for the Lions. Still have a lot of notes to type up about how I did things for the November dinner and what I would change. The best part I put the expenses together and at $10 a meal we had over a $170 profit for the club. I am thinking about heating up some leftovers for dinner and getting to be early.
Enjoy your evening.
Bet

Well done with the profit for Monday's supper Bet. I don't know anywhere that you can get a $10 meal these days, not even breakfast. Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon. I have to be honest and say my cough is still here after well over 2 weeks now. On the whole, I don't feel too bad but it's wearing. It will disappear I know but I really want it gone yesterday!!

Oh Chris, you have a lot to answer for!! I remember, may be about this time last year, you talking about a cranberry walnut loaf. It sounded so good, I went searching for a recipe and finally this afternoon, I made it. I have 2 loaves sitting on the kitchen counter that are just about ready to be wrapped and frozen. They look quite yummy. I'll try some toasted for breakfast in the morning. . . .
