I found this:
Though some brands may begin to break down in water, they currently don't do so as fast as toilet paper. Do plumbers recommend flushable wipes? Plumbers never recommend flushing these wipes down the toilet because they simply do not disintegrate quickly enough to pass easily through the plumbing system.Mar 23, 2024
Maybe ask your plumber about this before investing in a new toilet. Even an unusually large amt of toilet paper can clog the plumbing. This I know from experience with my DH.

The plumber we had come clear the clog the last time said there is absolutely no safe flushable wipe. If they don't plug things up in a home, they will somewhere else down the line. I am going to see if changing toilet paper will make a difference before investing in a brand new toilet. DH insists on Cottonelle, but if that takes a long time to break down because it is thick and DH uses a lot of it that might be causing us problems. Thanks for the info!!!

Having a septic tank I would never flush any so called flushable wipes or cat litter. I didn't know they even had flushable litter until a few years ago. I saw a pack of flushable baby wipes in DGGD's things one day but I'm sure they put them in the trash with the diaper. I even wipe out greasy dishes with a paper towel to keep it to a minimum in the pipes and septic tank.
On a similar note, DGS recently had to clean hair from a tub drain that I have always done. He complained about it draining slow so I gave him the hair removal tool and explained what to do. I could hear him gagging from where I was in the den. He didn't realize how much hair goes down the drain before he had to get it out. It was a massive amount but the drain is clean now. I have something in my tub to catch hair but I've found in the past with other people that they take it out when they shower so the water drains faster. So I haven't bothered getting one for the tub he uses.

Karen, we can't use Cottonelle with the septic systems here because of that very problem.

Funny, Wendy, that you mentioned Scott tissue because that is what I bought. Dissolving 10x quicker seems like exactly what we need. DH will holler a bit, but if I won't/don't buy Cottonelle anymore he will get use to it. During the pandemic when TP was hard to come by, he was thankful for whatever I could buy. I think it was Angel Soft at that time.
