Good morning gang. I woke up at 3.45 and that was all she wrote - no more sleep for me so I eventually gave up trying and here I sit with a cup of tea and my tablet. Not too much to say this early in the day other than that this morning we will be busy in the commercial kitchen one last time. We got a lot done yesterday - Christmas puddings, filling for the tourtiere and also for a vegan version, and several batches of cookies. Today will be spent finishing the pies, lots of packing and then a final clean-up.

Another shot of main street on a beautiful November day. Note the date on this building. All of the stores on main street were built back in the early 1900's on this side of main street except for the drug store which burned in early 60's.
Have a great day.

Good morning! It's a cold and dry start to the day. More wildfires are popping up in the area. Rain is coming, and it will be welcome. Yesterday, lunch with 'table 3' (friends from the Salem senior center) was fun. The 5 ladies are actually recognized by the staff now!! They were excited about the new menu. I had half a falafel gyro so I would be able to eat dinner. We ordered the swordfish kabobs...really good. Not sure what we will do for supper today. Hoping to get down to the storage cage to get a winter coat, boots, and some heavier clothes. Going to the gym after breakfast. Bill has a doctor's appointment. He has chosen to stay with his doctors in MA for the time being. That's all there is for now. Enjoy your day! Waving!

Hello and good morning to all! I've been MIA due to the fact that there's been nothing happening here--same old same old.
Tasty, sounds like your group accomplished a lot yesterday. I hope, as you gather together once more today, you will yield just as much.
Bet, what a nice town you live in--thanks for another picture this morning. Very happy to read that your Lions dinner on Monday evening was successful and there was plenty of food to be enjoyed by all.
Ann, sorry to read that the wildfires are still popping up all around your area. Hope some rain falls soon! This year we got much needed rain after, you may remember, we had an extremely bad drought the year before--fires everywhere. We are coming to an end of hurricane season, November 30th, and are already in our dry season, so we'll be rain-free for months to come.
Waving to all. Need to go. DH has cinnamon raisin bagels ready for breakfast. Butternut squash soup for lunch and a turkey dinner tonight. Lori

Tasty, sorry about your early awakening this morning. Yesterday sounds like a very productive day for the canning group. Hope today is just as successful. When is the Christmas sale? I know you have mentioned but very short memory here.
Ann glad the lunch was so much fun yesterday. How far is it for DH to go back to his Ma. doctor? Sorry about more fires. Knock on wood we have been lucky in this area with non but down state there have been quite a few.
Lori, has your moisture level come back up close to average or will you go into another winter worrying about drought and fires?

Bet, after three back-to-back storms (Debbie, Helene, and Milton), there is no need for us to be concerned with a drought or fires this year...at least not for us here on the gulf coast. Lori

Good morning. A chilly morning enhanced by the northerly breeze. The next few days will be warmer in the afternoon but still chilly at night. At least we don't have to run the a/c anymore. And I have some nice warm sweatshirts. But this morning told me that I am going to have to switch to Marks winter coat very soon. The mornings really nip my nose and other areas. ;) Or it could be that I wore a much lighter sweatshirt under my coat this morning.
The only work I'm doing today is to take out the garbage. Some time this afternoon I'm going to Lynda's for a visit and give her a nice leather purse that I don't use. I just checked and my bread maker got to Yuma this morning around 3, and could possibly come this afternoon. If it does I'll be washing it up today and putting it to use tomorrow.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Good morning ! There is 30 more minutes of morning here. I got up and dropped the dog off at the groomers, then headed to McDonalds for breakfast. I was craving a bacon, egg, cheese biscuit. I stopped by a store to pick up soup bowls for the potluck Friday night. So far, we have 10 coming. It will be our last get together until January. When I got home I made the coconut cream pie for Bobby and Charlotte. I probably won't eat any lunch today, but after noon I will put together the beefy vegetable soup to take to them. I am doubling the recipe and will have it already made for Friday night.
Your town looks lovely Bet.
Hope you don't find yourself dragging this afternoon, Tasty! I hate waking up so early and not being able to get back to sleep.
Ann, how nice it must be to invite your friends for a delicious lunch. Sounds fun.
Mamma, our weather is about the same. Very cool nights and early mornings. In a few days it will get back up into the 80's though so I'm pretty sure the ac will need to be on during the day.
The nurse told DH yesterday that she will work hard this week at teaching him all he needs to know so that he won't have to go back up to the clinic next week. It is about an hours drive north of here, and he has to stay about 4 hours. I did find out that a medical company is going to start sending boxes of essential items each month-about 30 boxes each delivery! We are going to have to make a spot to keep all these. They are fairly large and just over 20lbs each so not something that can be that easily transported around the house!
Not sure about supper yet. I could reserve some soup-that would be the easy thing to do! My throw together casserole turned out good last night!

Hello All, I was up a bit later but didn't skip my coffee. It's nice to sip it as I play solitaire. I'm washing throws and blankets. Since I can't wash more than two at a time it's kind of a project to plow through. My own fault for buying so many but I do love them. I'm also thinking about making a small grocery order for household things I'm getting low on. I notice the annual turkey and ham sales are pretty good this year. How I would love to get a big old ham but freezer is full so won't be available for freezing it right away or even later in smaller chunks. Kids are not into ham much so not a good opportunity to share either. Bet, it's surely a good feeling to know your Lions loved your meal. You put a lot of love into it. Ann, fun to share your excellent meals with friends. What a treat. Lori, your days are always full of cooking and projects so glad you have some slower days. I'm thinking you're still recuperating from that nasty cold so that must account for more downtime than usual. Mamma, hope your breadmaker arrives today and is just what you wanted. I agree, Tammy, that even though it's getting cooler we'll still need AC. Texas does not like to give us a steady stream of cooler days before it's done with the heat. I'm making another pot of green beans with ham and potatoes for supper. It's a good thing I don't get tired of it. Love the leftovers even more. Hugs and sweet dreams to all.

Good afternoon everyone. Yes, I’ve not been on lately. Not much going on here. Same old, same old. Tasty, that’s an awful early hour to get up. Hope you get the today’s canning, then home to rest a bit. Bet, thanks for posting your pictures. Gives me a better idea of the size of your town. Thought it was much smaller than that. Lori, we posted the same words. lol. I think you do much more than we do these days. Mamma, hope you enjoy your bread machine. I use the dough setting, then shape into loaf to fit a 8x4-inch greased pan. That’s for a 1lb. loaf.Let it rise for about 1 - 1 1/4 hrs, then bake at 375* for 30 minutes. I think it was Tasty who gave those instructions. Perfect every time. Birdy, thanks for the picture you posted the other day. One of the most beautiful fall scenes I have ever seen. Good to hear you’re getting a good price for your car. Tammy, sorry to hear that your DH has to do this, but by doing this at home will save a few hours. Helen, i didn’t realize that you live in Texas. I always thought it was Florida. DD2 is coming for supper tonight. Looking forward to that. Waving to anyone I’ve missed. Gotta get off here now, an emergency alert test is scheduled in a few minutes. It’ll come on all the devices. Makes a lot of noise. Jan

Jan, it isn't very big. I grocery store, other than that you can eat, drink, have coffee, buy real estate, insurance, get gas and go to the post office. Some places are only open in the summer months. Total populations is a little over 1,800.
Enjoy your evening.
