Good Saturday morning friends.
Not much happening here. I may go to a Christmas Bazaar today with my DDIL. Other wise nothing planned.
Last nights Shiva was interesting. I did not realize that when the sun goes down and it is Shabat you can not mourn so it stopped when the sun set and we then celebrated Shabat. Had some really good Yemen food. The guy who did the cooking said he would teach me to make some of it. One in particular was called ..... um... well can't pronounce it but he had set the plate next to me and before I knew it I had ate them all. It was a pastry filled with a meat paste and dipped in a Tahini sauce, Then there was this chicken dish that was divine! And meatballs!!! With Chickpeas. We shared funny stories about her Mom and it was so good t hear her laugh. I have never "Sat Shiva" before and I have never celebrated Shabat either. Was so good for me to learn.

Good morning! Oh, the full Beaver moon is beautiful! It's a cool start to this Saturday, but it will get warmer. Our exercise class yesterday morning was quite the workout! I hobbled around a good part of the day, but I won't quit!!! We went shopping after and judging by the activity there, you'd think Thanksgiving was today!!! The talk on the sign language for the deaf was interesting. Our neighbor and her husband are fluent in ASL. I made semi-homemade pizza last night. We had order up salads to go with it. Tonight we are having venison pie that Bill will make. I'll order more salad to go with it. No other plans. Enjoy yours!! Waving!

Hello, friends. While DH is out doing his morning walk, thought this might be a good time to hop on the computer.
Bet, what another beautiful picture with gorgeous colors to begin the day! What a lovely area you live in--so sorry I've never been able to see it in person! Later today or tomorrow, I will try to post for you my latest snack mix I made yesterday Bet. Nothing fancy, but DH said it was good, and I've found him digging in the container several times.
Chris, I have several very good friends that I taught school with that are Jewish, but I have never Sat Shiva or celebrated Shabat (I have celebrated Passover). I found it to be very interesting and had a great time: I had a reading part and even baked some cookies for the celebration. Thought of you as our HC Queen when I heard on the TV yesterday of two new hot chocolate items for the holiday season: Limited Edition-Frosted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Pop Tarts and Hot Chocolate Flavored Grands Rolls by Pillsbury. Had DH look for both in the stores while he was shopping, but he saw neither. He did see the Swiss Miss Peppermint Hot Chocolate packets and pick-up those (haven't tried them to give my opinion yet, but I'm sure not as good as yours). If you get to the craft bazaar with your DDIL, enjoy. Happy to see your DS is moving and doing better each day.
Ann, a long time ago, when DD was in 1st grade, she took an ASL after school class offered by a teacher/neighbor because she wasn't able to "talk" to a girl on the playground. She loved it so much that she took dived further and took a sign language class offer by an instructor at the ASL center in town. She stayed with it a year or so, doing so good, but the instructor moved and she stopped. We have several ASL books on our bookshelves and they have been the biggest help over the years. I once had picked up a few words but lost some in time. Semi-homemade pizza sounds good.
Not sure what dinner will be here this evening, but more than likely it going to be a sandwich and a bowl of soup. Another busy weekend planned with both inside and outside things to taken care of. Maybe English Muffin pizzas for tomorrow with a salad.
Need to go right now--DH has breakfast done. Lori

Good morning just a quick stop then the recliner....... Last night showed me that my cold had not left my body. I got all stuffed up and the sneezing increased. So back to laying low. It seems that doing nothing for 4 days didn't kick the cold to the curb. So I'm starting another regiment of doing nothing. I told Lynda that I am not going to the ladies luncheon today or church on Sunday. I should know better than to think that I can shake a cold in just 4 days.
Good thing letting Annie loose on the floors takes no effort from me other than pushing the clean button. The floors are terrible so she will do all the work. I'll just sit and watch. Usually I move things so she can do a better job, but not today.
It was only 48º this morning and two degrees warmer now, an hour later. A cold windy day is in store for us. High of only 69º. And with the wind, burrrrrr. Good day to stay inside and cuddle with my blankie. :)

G'Day Mates! Not much going on here other than getting ready for our trip. Jelly Bean went to the groomer yesterday and got a sweet bath and a fluff. He looks so cute! Today DH and I will get some of the smaller stuff done - like wrapping the fountain and setting up the boat. Then a trip to the shooting range for a quick fire, then me getting the laundry going so we can pack during the week. When I was a medic we were required to learn some ASL - not much, but some to help when attending our patients. I think I have probably forgotten most of it. Sometimes, even the patients laughed at us!! Chris, it is so interesting to participate in other cultures, isn't it. Going out tomorrow to purchase the ingredients for your snack mix, Lori. It sure looks yummy! Bet, your pictures are always gorgeous. When I lived in the UP, we would see the beauty. Here, not s much, More corn fields!! Although, we do see the waving fields of grains, and that is a beautiful sight with the blue skies behind them.
You snuck in Mamma....feel better soon!
I best get in gear if I want to get today's deeds done. tm

Lori, I showed the recipe to DH and he suggested adding some Pistachios to the mix for the "salt" flavor. What do you think?

It's chillier here today so finally got out my warmest throws, soft and cozy. Now, that's more like it. I woke up with a stuffy nose, usually the first warning sign of a cold coming on. See if I can wish myself a short bout this time. After my nap I'm making my comfort casserole for supper and any other time I'm hungry. (pretty much Johnny Marzetti without the meat). Wishing all a nice weekend. Hugs

trailmom, I think pistachios would be fine. I think that is the beauty of the snack mix--you can add basically whatever you like to make it you. I hope you enjoy it! Sounds like your plans for your trip to see DD are moving forward--safe travels. I remember you do sew quilts--will you be taking her anything special?
Chris, glad to hear that you'll be working at school each week now before the holidays--the extra $ at this time of year will be nice! If you make the snack mix, enjoy!
(((mamma))), I don't know what this crap is going around, but it seems everyone I know seems to be fighting it these days. It's nasty! I am so very sorry to see that this cold has you down once again. Rest, please. What most people can shake in a week or two, takes me usually three--it's always been that way for me. DH and I notice that my cough is gone, but I still am fighting laryngitis. Spoke with my doctor again yesterday, and unfortunately, I am told that this is something I just have to suffer through. None of the doctor I see want to give me anything as it could give me problems with the kidneys. So I will do what I need to do now and pray it only gets better from this point.
(((Helen))) hope it's not too late and you've caught it in time--I hate to hear that you think you're coming down with a cold. Rest--glad you took out your warmest, cozy throws. Waving to all! Lori

DH just walked in the door. He had driven my car over to visit his friend, Fred. He left and was just down the street from the house, when DH stopped for a red light. Light turned green, but DH wasn't able to pull forward as there was a long line of cars ahead of him that weren't moving. Unfortunately, a man in a truck behind my car did pull forward and rear ended my car. The main thing is DH is not hurt, he's okay, but I am a bit upset. I have driven the car 14 years now and have had no bumps or bruises, but I also know what that's life--stuff happens. DH has already called the insurance company and filed a claim, so we'll need to get the car in to be fixed in the next few weeks when they have an opening. Lori

Does anyone else use Airborne? I take it at the very first signs of a cold and it goes away rather quickly and is very mild.Usually lasts about 4 days at best!

I had such a nice time with my sister this morning. We went to the Bradbury Bistro for brunch and it was lovely. She started with a lavender latte, while I had a regular coffee. Our food was delicious -- ham & cheese omelet for her, the lightest and fluffiest omelet I have ever seen. My quiche was packed with spinach, mushrooms, and feta cheese. Both came with a light salad and balsamic dressing, and there was also a balsamic drizzle on my quiche. It was definitely a sister kind of place -- I don't think our husbands would have enjoyed it nearly as much as we did! Then we had a leisurely stroll through several different consignment stores and found at least one treasure in each of them. The weather was sunny and cool -- just a lovely day all around. At home, I've been doing laundry and now watching football. A very relaxing Saturday. I had leftover chili for a late lunch/early supper. Sending hugs to all those who are feeling puny and hoping for a restful night and rapid recovery.

Hi. I walked this morning and then dh and I went out for breakfast with Linda ( our neighbor across the greenway). Then this morning at 11 we played cards. I just got done watching a Christmas movie. We are invited to Peggy's for happy hour tonight she is serving a spaghetti dinner. We are going to stay home and have soup and sandwich as I have been running all day. I will watch another movie tonight.
Lori and Mamma and Helen- I hope you both feel better soon.
Chris- I use to take airborne until the kidney dr. Told me no as to hard on the kidneys. Also, no Zicam. I would of never have thought lots of vitamin C hard on kidneys. Lori- sorry about your car, but glad dh not hurt.
Elza- glad you and sister had fun.

Good evening. 6:30 and I am headed to bed shortly. Busy day. Went to town this morning and got shopping done and picked up the last 2 turkey breasts. They are finally thawed and are brining overnight. Made a lot of lists and schedules for what I have to do when tomorrow and Monday. Did finally get the greenhouse emptied out and down. Body is paying for that tonight. Still have everything to move to the garage and shop. All sitting on my small porch ready to go down the stairs so can barely get out of the house. Also got the last batch of rolls mixed up and are now in the refrigerator for the last rise and I will shape them and get the in the oven tomorrow morning before the Turkey goes in. Alice did clean the floors for me while I was getting the last things done in the kitchen and I got the floors mopped. The dishwasher needs emptying but not enough dishes to run in now so will wait until morning when it will be full quickly.
Enjoy your evening.
Bet
