Good morning! I sent a post yesterday telling you about the Creamy Chicken recipe that I adapted using cooked Baldwin ingredients! Have no idea where the post went. Anyway, the sauce in that recipe is a definite keeper. Since I had most of the ingredients from the restaurant, I used some espagnole sauce to replicate the "browned bits", and I used my own onion and garlic. Delicious over noodles...! It got really 'hot' yesterday. Broke the all-time record...80°! I cooked from scratch last night...Bavarian cabbage & onions, bratwurst, and fried crash potatoes. No sure what will be for supper tonight. Will go to the gym this morning. No other plans at the moment. Waving!! Enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone. Tammy, I’m sorry to read about DH having to do dialysis. Didn’t realize you could do it at home if condition is right for it. Much better than such a long drive. Chris, hope all goes well with Brian’s surgery today. (((hugs))). Ann, good to hear that you liked the chicken recipe. I didn’t make it yesterday. Had the prep all done. Chicken cut up and back in fridge, still frozen. Passed out around lunchtime yesterday, didn’t hurt myself when I fell. Spent the rest of the day in bed. Feel good today. You can be sure DH will be watching me closely so I best not start something strenuous. Maybe just sit and finish my book. Forget sometimes I’m not 20 years younger. Bbl Jan

Good morning. Nothing new here. It's been terribly windy and in my opinion cold. We are staying in out of the wind.
Last night my DS said he is booking a flight to come and visit for a few days in December. That put a smile on my face. I'll start my Christmas baking soon so that I am done when he gets here. He will then have mammas treats this year. I told him to put in his order for meals and he told me to make a to do list for him. Finally something to look forward to.
Take care and God bless.

Hello, again! It has turned cloudy today, but no rain in sight. We have a new dinner menu! It looks really good this time around. I ordered Chipotle shrimp dinners with cauliflower and French green beans for our dinner. I'll make rice, and we have two salads ordered. Chris - Sending prayers and good thoughts for Brian. Bet - There's a blue heron rookery that we could see from the highway just before entering NH. It's empty now, but there were a number of nests. Hope they return next year. Tammy - Sorry to read that Dave had to undergo dialysis. Fingers crossed that he will be able to do it at home. Hope the drive to the appointment goes OK. Will he be on a stricter diet now? Jan - So sorry to read that you had a fainting spell. Hope you continue to feel OK. Now that you have the chicken recipe prepped, it should be pretty quick to put together. Elza - I think you'll enjoy the chicken dish! Birdy - The curry taste on the potatoes was deliciously different. Would you have to have the salmon puréed? If yes, maybe they'd swirl it into the potatoes to make it more appealing. Mamma - That is such good news having Lincoln visit near the holidays. Make that 'to do' list long so he'll stay longer...lol!!! Rice timer just went off. Have to drape a towel under the lid after I turn it off. That sucks up extra moisture so the grains get more separate. Enjoy your afternoon! Waving!

Awww. Finally. I thought I would never be able to post from my phone again. This week has been heck not having my phone to post on. On Monday , I was at dentist for 4 hours with Judy. Tuesday at Dr with Karen for 1 hour. Yesterday at drs with Mavis for 3 hours. Tomorrow it will be Joyce for at least 2 hours but I will have phone now to play with, lol. Before any of you ask no I don't get paid, it would be nice if I was offered gas money but nope. I think everyone here lives on limited income like us .
Chris- praying Brian's surgery is going well
Tammy- I am sorry to read about Daves dialysis. Hugs and prayers.
Ann- I've seen the pictures on Facebook of all the meals you have been making. They sure look good.
Bet- love the pictures. Hope things settle down for you so that you can be back posting.
Tasty-are you doing the baking in that kitchen that you get donated to for a few days every year?
Jan- do you know why you passed out? Glad you didn't hurt yourself .
Mamma- great news about your son coming. Will his wife also come? It will be nice for them to get out of the cold also.

Having such a nice quiet day at home. One batch of cinnamon rolls is almost done (just baked enough for brown-and-serve). When they're cool I'll add the glaze and then wrap them for the freezer. Fortunately this house has a big refrigerator/freezer!
I decided to go ahead and make the 2nd batch today as well. Then I can focus on cleaning the house tomorrow.

Tammy, thinking of you and Dave as he begins dialysis. I am so sorry he has to have it but he is lucky to have you to care for him. Jan, oh no! Sorry you had a fainting spell. Having recently fallen myself, I can sympathize. Resting will do you a lot of good. Elaine, you are a treasure. Wonderful how you help so many of your friends. Mamma, I know you'll have such a great holiday with your son there. So much fun cooking his favorite foods and fussing over him as only a Mom can. Bet, work must be really bad if you threatened to quit. I know you won't go down easily! Ann, sounds like a fun challenge for you to combine Baldwin meal ingredients with your own favorite touches. You have the best of both. I was out early for a lab appointment this morning. Think I'm in for the weekend now. Supper tonite will be ham, hash browns, and a toasted English muffin. Kind of a breakfast meal for a change of pace. Sending hugs to all.

Brian's surgery went great! He will be coming home around 3pm or so. He said the pain was so much less already.
Tammy- I am sorry to hear that Dave will need dialysis but I sure hope he can do it at home! Hugs to you both.
Jan- I am so sorry you passed out! Take care of yourself.
Talk at you all later.

Ann, since your food points are included in what you pay monthly do you think you are ahead or breaking even on what you would spend for groceries Weekly? Do you make your own espagnole sauce or can you buy it jarred? I have never made it as it looks like a lot of work to cook enough for just me for a meal but I do love sauces. I doubt that you can freeze it. Jan, how scary that you fainted yesterday. I think that most of the time I like to think I am 20 years younger than I am but when I see many 20 years younger than me and what they are capable of doing I am real happy to be doing much more than they are. Mamma, what great news that your son is coming to visit. Hope it lifts your spirits and when you start cooking for him you will continue to cook for yourself after he leaves. Sometimes cooking is what keep me going. Elaine, you are busy as usual helping others. I wouldn't think of asking anyone to do for me what you do and not giving them at least gas money. I guess some folks are givers and some are takers. Elza, sounds like you are enjoying some time off and quiet time at home. With all that you have been going through with the house etc. you need it. Your rolls sound good. You mentioned made that brown and serve. What did you mean my that at I see you put the glaze on them before freezing them. Helen, I really don't want to give up the job but when they through lots of new things at you and no guidance on how to do them I get real upset. I am still on trial time in my mind if I continue. Work tomorrow will be a test. Chris, so glad to read that Brian's surgery went well to day. Fingers crossed that he continues to feel more and more relief. Tammy, hope the day went well for DH. It can be a big life changing situation. Knowing someone who went through it I understand there may be some anxiety at first. With your support I am sure DH will do fine. I didn't work today and am not sure what I have accomplished today. Spent quite a bit of time on the phone with support for the jobs I have to do tomorrow and they are doing much better than I am with understanding them. This merge has thrown a curve at everyone including lower management and our support team. They neglected to consider some training ahead of time would be nice instead of announcing on Wednesday that Monday the change was taking place with little explanation. Also got work for next week pretty much set up until I change my mind about what days I am working. I should have been outside working we did have some sun this afternoon and I think it got up to 50°. I have managed to get about 3/4 of the food moved into the freezer, inventoried and in the computer on a spread sheet. Should go work on it some more but down to hunt and seek finding what needs to be moved and where it goes. There are packages of food just stuffed in every nook and cranny they would fit in.
Enjoy your evening.

Good afternoon, friends! Just wanted pop in and let you know that I'm still fighting this terrible cold for over a week now. When I last posted, I was headed to my doctor. DH was hoping he'd give me an antibiotic and we'd say so long to this cough and laryngitis, but that didn't go as planned. My doctor didn't want to give me any antibiotic as it could mess my kidneys up which we've worked to improve, so he told me he was afraid it was just something I was going to have to fight through. With my crappy immune system and going to the same doctor for over 30 years, he knows I can never shake anything on my own, but he said he wasn't going to put my kidneys at risk. So here I am, still coughing up a storm, esp. in the early morning and late evening and I have laryngitis that comes and goes. I'm sort of upset with my doctor, although I do understand why he didn't give me anything, yet I know me, and this isn't going to fly the coop on its own. I've been pretty much just resting, but even that hasn't seemed to help---such problems!
(((Jan))), sorry to read about you passing out. Prayers said that whatever caused that episode is long gone, and you are feeling back like yourself. Nice knowing your loving and caring husband will be keeping a close eye on you. I haven't forgotten your request for my recipe for Ham Delights and hope to share that with you by the weekend.
(((Chris))), wonderful news reading that your son is already done with surgery today and will be coming home! I thought they'd keep him at least 24-hours, but glad he is doing well and can now begin recovery at his own home.
(((Tammy))), I was surprised to read that Dave has had to begin dialysis---hugs to him too! No idea that is a process that can now be done in the comfort of one's home if conditions are just right. I know you will be taking great care of him!
mamma, how exciting that Lincoln is planning a flight out to see you next month! OMG, you have to be dancing on the ceiling just waiting to see your DS and spending some well-deserved time with him! I am so happy for you!!
Ann, this November weather is crazy. Down here, it feels more like September and after yesterday with a high of 90*, I just shook my head. Have a feeling we are going to have a warm winter and swing right into an early spring here. Back in Michigan at the cottage that DH's family owns, they also are experiencing warmer conditions as the deer hunting season is about to begin.
Bet, lovely picture once again---thanks for sharing. Praying things get better at work but concerned and worried that you've actually considered quitting now. Stay strong! Elaine, you are such a kind and caring friend to so many! You are always giving of your time and yourself---but look out for yourself too and don't be afraid to say no if/when needed.
Elza, glad you could get all of your cinnamon rolls done today and that your rental has a nice big refrig/freezer.
Birdy, did you ever get your new "colorful" glasses yet? I might have missed you saying so in the past. Hope they are working out well for you.
Tasty, hope you and your group are baking up a ton of delicious bake goods for your next market. May it be a big success!
Helen, breakfast for dinner sounds good and might be what we have here tomorrow evening. Tonight, I have leftovers--- sloppy joe's, and a few spoonsful each of a broccoli and cauliflower casserole and macaroni salad.
DH has been running all day trying to complete all of the grocery shopping---Publix, Amish Farm Market, Aldi, and BJ's. I told him to break it up, a few stores each day, bu.t no, he said he wants to do some yardwork, cooking, and maybe find time to visit his friend, Fred, in the next few days. I will close now in hopes that there is something little I can pack away into the refrig or pantry to give him a helping hand before dinner. Waving to all! Lori

It has been another glorious fall day, warm enough that jackets were not needed either time I have been out and about today. Had my hair cut this morning rather than the original appointment on Monday when my throat was so bad. Turns out to be just a 'good' old-fashioned cold and altho it's still around I do feel much more like I should. After the hair cut I stopped at the auxiliary charity shop where I knew there were 2 boxes of canning jars to recycle. They were run thru the dishwasher and are now safely deposited at the church ready for next spring. I have done a few other odds and ends but nothing worthy of note. Supper will be a bowl of soup, after hubby curls. I love how you incorporate the Baldwin food into your own meals Ann. Can't say I would have thought of that. Your pictures or not Bet, they are lovely. Hope you can get the changes in your job sorted out. I know you are not always happy with it, but I think you would also be lost without it. Sorry to see you passed out yesterday Jan. Take care and get lots of rest. I'm sure your hubby is keeping a good eye on you today. What a treat to look forward to mamma. I know your going to enjoy having him home for a while. Elaine, you spend so much time looking after others. You would think they could at least do something to say thank you. So happy that you can finally have a day when you can do things you enjoy Elza. I'm sure you have to be ready for a day like that. The house cleaning will wait. Your supper sounds good Helen - nice and simple! So good to see that Brian's surgery went well. It totally amazes me that after something like that he can go home the same day. I have heard of others who have had back surgery and found the pain almost gone within a day or 2...My girl friend who had something similar about 6 weeks ago said she never felt any pain from the surgery itself. Good to see you posting Birdy. Lori, Tammy - thinking of you. Have a great evening everyone.
ETA: Good to see you again Lori but I'm sorry your doctor felt he couldn't give you any meds to help - not what you wanted to hear! All you can do is relax and let hubby take care of you.

Birdy, you jumped in while I was typing which took me for ever. Think about you often and remember the great day we spent together in Old Forge.
Lori, so sorry the Dr. didn't give you anything for your cold. With your temperatures it must be rough also having a cold. Hope you can somehow find some relief. DH is a Saint the way he cares for you and gets things done. My DH was the same way. Don't always find such keepers.

Tasty, sorry that you also have a cold. Hope you shake it quickly. It is great that folk return your jars and you have other place that save them for you. That is a big expense you don't have to face. I donated 4 cases of quarts to the Lions' garage sale 2 years ago and someone sold them for a dollar a case. I know the folks that bought them knew was a steal they got. I went with out working for working for about 5 years after I retired and enjoyed it. Went back to work for financial reasons. Since social security is paying better now I could do just fine staying home but do like the extra money. I have tucked quite a bit away in case I have to stop working. With this house and the property I could be very busy every day. Only thing I would miss is the socializing.
Tonight's dinner is smoked baby back ribs that when moving things around in the freezer I noticed the vacuum seal was not good. Have some roasted potatoes in the refrigerator that I made the other night to try a new recipe for the Lions so will reheat them. That is part of the test to see if I will make them and Cauliflower, cheese and tomato that I had in the freezer. Had the other half of the chocolate cake that I pulled from the freezer last night for dessert.
