Good morning! Happy November!! Gasp! It's hot out there with a warm, dry wind...not good for controlling the brush fires. Right now in affected areas, firefighters are setting controlled burns to clear out ground leaves and twigs. We went to Aldi and Job Lots yesterday afternoon. Took an unintended tour of Londonderry & Derry when we followed directions given by a friend...literally went in a big circle! Thank goodness for Google maps. We got back to the starting point and drove the route we knew!! Beef tenderloin stroganoff was outstanding. The recipe just fell together after Bill cut the meat into thin slices and I browned it in butter and minced onion. Added the espagnole sauce and horseradish sour cream. Used up all of our October food points!! We signed up for a ride to the polling place from here and have been given an assigned time...9:30am...nice and early but after the morning rush. Going shopping in a bit and we did sign up for a mid-morning exercise class. Supper tonight will be a salmon cobb salad. Have a wonderful day! Waving!

Good morning friends.
Ann- Warm here too! Yesterday we got up to 79* Wow! We voted early this year. Dan didn't want to go in. He is struggling with crowds now. We had stuffed chicken breasts with the last of the butternut squash last night. I have some pork to use up so will be on the menu for tonight. Hope you have a great day.

We've had nice warm days too -- mid-70s or higher. I know that we need rain, but since there is still just a tarp over the big blank space in our roof, we are very grateful that there has been no significant rainfall since Helene came through.
Our dinner last night was lovely -- the restaurant has this special every Thursday, with a standard entree of prime rib, mashed potato, and sauteed spinach, and then the shared appetizer and dessert are the chef's choice. We started with Cajun Shrimp Cocktail -- fried shrimp with a remoulade sauce. Delicious! Dessert was mint chocolate chip ice cream -- one of my favorite flavors but not DH's. However, he enjoyed the Oreo cookies that came with it. 😊 It was nice and quiet since we got there at 5:30 and there were only a few other diners. Since neither of us had lunch yesterday, we were ready to eat!
Getting ready to do some housecleaning for the first time in a while -- I'll get bathrooms cleaned this morning before work, and then dust and sweep and change sheets tomorrow.
Ann, I've taken those unintended tours before! LOL!
Chris, DH has already voted but every time I've tried the line is just too long for me to feel like it's worth it. Tomorrow is the last day, so I'm just going to wait till Tuesday when I don't have anywhere else to be after work. If I'm going to wait in a long line, I'd rather it be in the school gym than on a sunny sidewalk or a crowded hallway.
Happy Friday to all of us!

Yes we do have a few nuts around here. This guy was out paddling the out morning when it was below freezing. He paddled in that outfit yesterday.
Have a great day.

Good morning on this chilly 51º start to the day. There are clouds out there this morning, which is rare down here so I never saw the sun come up over the mountains. And silly me forgot to grab my earmuffs and boy were my ears cold. I'll be changing into the warmer jacket in the morning from now on too. I don't care how silly it looks, I don't like to be cold. It's quite dark in the mornings so I may start sleeping in a bit. That is if my internal clock will allow me to do so.
The golf cart is on the charger and the sheets are in the washer. Boy it sure slept good with all clean bedding and the extra blanket on the bed. My bladder only woke me up once too. When I turned on the bedside lamp this morning, Mandy came running and jumped up on the bed for some love. Oh, it took me two yeas but I learned how to have Mandy cuddle on my lap. She is not a snuggeler and doesn't like hugs, but if I put a blanket on my lap she will sit/lie there for an hour and I can pet her. So she not only likes a blanket in her beds but on laps too. I am loving it. She is the first dog we have ever had that doesn't like to be held. I wish I knew how she was treated before.
Annie needs to be let loose today. The wind sent in a lot of dust the other day and my feet can tell the floor needs help. Nothing else planned for the day.
Yesterday as a nice 80º day and the same for today but maybe more clouds. The nights are chilly and it makes for much better sleeping even though the joints are sore.
Happy Friday Y'all.

Good morning gang. Started off as another nice warm morning here but the temperature is due to drop to something more like seasonal norms and probably some rain later on. I just finished making a mint lime jelly that we didn't get time to do on Tuesday - the prep was all done so all I had to do literally was put it together, cook it then can it, so it is now cooling on the counter. Hubby is off for his last golf game with the guys this morning and then we have one last game together on Sunday and then the course is closed for the season. I haven't made stroganoff in ages Ann but it does sound really good and we may be having it very soon. We had very similar weather to you the last couple of days Chris but I imagine it is over now altho I haven't checked the forecast for next week. Glad you had such a nice meal last night Elza. Cute picture Bet - definitely not for me! We were warmer than you this morning mamma but I'm sure that won't last for very long.
Have a great day everyone.

It is cooler here, too, with temps in the 60 and 70s. I'm even cold in the house, seeing the overcast skies. Looking at my calendar I see that next week will be pretty busy so I am grateful for a nice quiet day today. I will make an exception for the pizza guy's delivery tonite, however. No trick and treaters here last nite, either. In fact, never have had any living here. Have a great weekend, friends.

Hi ! Today is overcast but it has not rained.
I just got in from the bake sale. I bought a lemon meringue from the neighborhood bakery, and a caramel apple pie with a carrying case, DH bought some chocolate dipped macaroons. We will take it all out to the camp out. My stuff sold well. $190.00 was paid for the rhubarb pie. All told my items garnered $495.00. The funds collected go to the volunteer fire department.
Now on to the next thing...packing for the weekend. I may not have time to post for a couple days. Have an awesome weekend friends.

Hi. I did post this morning but as I hit reply it went weird ion me. Now, on my phone it wants me to register to post and I don't know my password.
I have another UTI if it ever went away. Talk about inflation. I went for the antibiotic this morning and it was $28.35. 2 weeks ago the same one was $19.63. I didn't want to get it since it didn't help the 1st time, but....

Hi there, friends! I tried to post earlier this afternoon, but the site was giving me all kind of requests to prove I was human and not a robot. After 5 attempts, I decided I'd wait until after dinner---no problem.
Elaine, just saw that inflation today in one of my meds I take daily for my heart--prescription I picked up cost $90---same meds cost $40 the last time. Asked clerk if that was correct using my insurance--said no, using my Single Care card---my insurance card would have cost $120. Like you, didn't want to pay that, but need it so had to bite the bullet.
Ann, I've taken some of those unintended tours. Sadly, they were my suggestions because "I remember, this was the road" and they listened to me. One was on my honeymoon with DH, headed through Canada back to Michigan. The other, Mom and I were in Orlando and we ended on the back lot at Disney where they were filming a show/movie. Neither occasion were happy moments for me, but they both turned out fine in the end.
Bet, interesting picture today---as they say, each to his own. Hope you had a lovely day.
Chris, your mention of butternut squash made me to ask DH to pick up one next time he goes to the Amish market. He laughed, said he was a head of the game- said he picked up one yesterday so I can make another pot of butternut squash soup. Gee, I know he enjoyed the earlier pot I made, just didn't realize how much! Will be on my to-do list next week.
Elza, your dinner last night sounded yummy! Crossing my fingers that your voting line will not be too long come Tuesday and move quickly. We dropped off, rather than mail them back, our vote-by-mail ballots last week. Walked in and out in 5 minutes.
Tasty, mint-lime jelly---I wonder if it is more minty or lime? I 've never seen nor hear of it before, but I'd try it. Hope you and DH enjoy the last golf game on Sunday.
Hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did, I'm sorry. Eyers are going down, so I need to get off and say goodnight to all. Lori
mamma, I like how you can put a blanket on your lap and Mandy knows what she needs to do! When I was in high school/college, we had a Doberman named Ginger. This BIG 60 lb. baby thought she was a lapdog and was in my lap whenever she could be. My last dog, Ginger, we got when DD was in 1st grade, and she passed just weeks before DD graduated from high school. Ginger was a little 19 lb. beagle and was another lapdog. Miss them both. Give Mandy a pet and hug from me!
Tammy, sounds like your baking was in big demand today to bring in such $$$! Congrats! I'm sure all the funds will be appreciated by your fire department. Have a nice time this weekend.
Helen, I too would make an exception for the pizza delivery guy! Last night we had no trick-or-treaters either. Haven't had any now for a few years as the make-up of the neighborhood has changed over time.
