Good morning, friends! It's another cold start to my day. Actually had a snow shower pass through early yesterday with a bit of accumulation! Today is supposed to be cloudy. My lunch with friends was enjoyable. After lunch we took a brief walking tour of the facility. We finished the spicy pasta last night with a paella twist...shrimp, chicken, and roasted veggies from the Baldwin. Easy peasy! Tonight we are having mac & cheese and meatloaf from the freezer along with a salad and a few roasted veggies. Dry conditions are endangering several areas around here with fire and chocking smoke. We're clear so far. No plans other than going to the gym this morning. Enjoy your day. Hope to be back to chat later. Waving!

Good Morning ! Very nice photo Bet. I miss the beautiful fall colors.
Hope you have a productive day Tasty.
Chris, the girl that collects food bank groceries and gives me what she does not want, also makes her own apple butter. She is supposed to bring me a jar. I have done homemade applesauce but never apple butter.
The temp is 75 right now, so another warm day, and I am not complaining about that!
I got up at 7 and started on the stroganoff. It is warming in the roaster now, all I have to do is boil the noodles. We have the camper loaded on the truck, and neither of us want to drive it like that. DH has a doctor appointment in Lufkin and he needed to drive our car, so he asked his maintenance manager Laura to pick me up with all the food and drive me to church. I got the marinated veggie salad done and also the oreo torte yesterday. Next will be baked potatoes topped with some chili. The chili is in foil bags-an item from the food bank. I have about 20 of the large bags, so will heat it up and see if it needs any "doctoring " up. Teresa also gave me the potatoes, so I need to use them. Sure does help the grocery bill.
Carl and Marge came over last night to take a look at the apartment they will be staying in. They saw it once when we first moved in, but it had about 100 cardboard moving boxes sitting all over. They thought it was fixed up cute. They will be coming around November 14 and think they will be here 1 month.
I'm not sure what I had on the menu for supper. I made a list for the week, but don't remember at the moment.
Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Good morning.
A chilly 62º this morning and it's windy too yet. Yesterday really put a heavy coat of dirt on everything. When the wind stops I have outside work to do. Mandy and I get to the pet area just before the sun gets over the mountains. And then it does the birds go crazy, flying around and singing loudly. None of the birds down here have pretty songs, just lots of noise. IMO
Cookie baking today. I could go for some home made chocolate chip cookies and not the packaged stuff. So sick of the store and bakery cookies that all taste the same, bland. One problem, I forgot to take the butter out of the fridge last night so I'll have to do my quick thaw to soften it up for mixing. For now the towels are in the washer. Once all that is done, I'm done for the day as well.
No open doors or windows today because of more wind. The high should be around 75º so it would be nice to open up. The wind down here ruins a lot of nice days. But it is what it is. At least we are out of the 100's. :) Over night I don't leave the windows open because of unexpected wind. With my luck it would get windy and I'ld wake up to a sand dune in the house. Yes, it has happened too often. I surely don't need or want that ever again.

Tammy- I got my recipe from Jackie Severance on the old TOHBB. It is a crockpot recipe and you just put in 4 cups of sugar and 5 cups applesauce and then the spices. Cloves Cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. I love how it comes out. Tastes just like Cracker Barrels Applebutter but better! LOL Sounds like you have a good meal planned for church.

Good morning everyone. Chris, enjoy your canning today, that’s one thing I miss in my old life. Bet, what a beautiful scene. Somewhat like what we drive thru on our way to Vernon, etc. except our roads have a yellow line going down them. Have to drive thru burned out areas too. Ann, our fire season is winding down, thank goodness. Our dry season is finally over, rain off and on now. Today is supposed to be sunny though. Tasty, I hope you ladies have a good supply of goodies ready for the coming Christmas sales. Do you sell out every year? Tammy, I can’t imagine the amount of cooking you do in a month. The foods you describe though make my mouth water. Nice to have friends stay for awhile. In a separate apartment means everyone can go their separate ways if they want to. Hmmm, just re-read that last sentence. Does it make any sense to you? Not much doing here, as usual. Finished the laundry yesterday, all caught up for now. DH made a huge frittata last night. Full of veggies. I’ll finish that up tonight. He said he’d have rice tea and salted fish, a comfort food from his childhood. Yuk. Not to my taste. Just getting light out there now, don’t know what we’ll do do today, have some things to drop off at hospice thrift store, so might do that. Bbl. Jan

Good morning. It was 62° when I walked this morning. I did have on my sweatshirt, lol. We are heading to 77°. It is so nice to have c the doors and Windows open. We had to shut down the ones on one side yesterday because of the wind.
I have laundry going.i was thinking about making some cookies also, but we bought ice cream.
Chris - my mouth is watering. I do miss our apple tree.
I need to go do labs for my kidneys,but..... I was suppose to cut down 1/3 of everything and I didn’t really.
Today is day 6 of Delores radiation, thank goodness. Been praying that it shrinks them. She said her side effects don't usually come for 2 weeks.
Dryer just buzzed.

Chris, could you share that recipe please? The kitchen gave DH a bag of apples that I need to use up.
The apartment is a converted garage, it is free standing, not attached to our house. And we have 2 driveways-one is concrete that we use, on the opposite side of the house is a grassy drive. Our guests park there. It works out nicely-they can come and go as they please. We don't usually ever hear any of the folks that stay out there.
I had a surprise this morning when DH drove up right at 9:55. I was expecting Laura but DH walked in. He Helped me load all 11 pans and I got it all signed, sealed and delivered. When I say "signed" I mean that I wrote on the foil what the pan contains. And I hope it was sealed-I double wrapped several things so as not to leak hopefully. My kitchen looks like a tornado went through-I used so many pans-lol. I am running the dishwasher, and will have another load after that. I don't have much of anything else planned except some cooking for the bake sale on Friday. I plan on making Kahlua brownies today and freezing them. Not sure if I will get any other things made. I thought about making coconut cashew brittle. It is usually so humid here, I'm not sure it will turn out but I can try I guess. It is fairly dry right now. Whenever they sell peanut brittle at the sale it goes over well. Later this week I will also make my obligatory rhubarb pie, key lime pie bars and pumpkin mousse tarts.
Waving!

Good morning again. Chris, that’s the apple butter recipe I used to make. Have many recipes from the old TOH board. Mamma, did you make the chocolate chip cookies? If I made those, Cookie Monster would devour them in a couple of days. So I usually make him ‘healthy’ ones, rolled oats and raisins. No windows open here, temp. Still sitting around freezing, 32*. Elaine, hugs to Delores and your whole family as she goes thru the treatments. Hope they do the trick and they shrink. Just when i thought we were through wildfire season, I got an alert. Fire very near here. It is being held (not expected to spread), so I hope it pours tonight so it doesn’t go underground. Those are the ones that break through the surface as soon as it dries out. At this point I’m not worried, they’re very good with the alerts. Not taking things to the thrift store today. Decided to go to our mall after lunch, see if I can get some ideas for the girls for Christmas. Can’t hack the last minute rush anymore, those days are long gone. Bbl. Jan

Ah, the pleasures of a hot shower. To say nothing of a dishwasher making dishes sparkle with the use of hot water. Really brings clarity to the hardships so many have been suffering due to the hurricanes. I'm doing a quick spaghetti with meatballs for supper tonite. I'm actually planning to use the meatballs for sandwiches tomorrow. Just need to take frozen ciabatta rolls out of the freezer and I'll be all set. Hugs to all.
