Good morning! It's cool in the house this morning, but with a sweatshirt, I'm fine. It's going to be another dry, sunny fall day. Red alerts are posted for brush fires around here. The concert was quite enjoyable. Along with the music there was some commentary about the pieces they played...like the dirge they started that turned into a lively reel...story goes that the English confiscated the oats the Scotts needed to make whiskey, but soon the Scotts prevailed and recaptured the oats and made the whiskey!!! Dinner was outstanding...love Shake 'n Bake pork. I dipped the pork in kimchi juice before pressing on the crumbs. We had it with mini spuds that I had to use up (Those things last a long time in my dark cabinet!) I cut them in half and roasted them in garlic oil. Mixed them with Baldwin veggies...brussies, corn, butternut, and mushrooms. Tonight we will have more chili, Tostitos, and garnishes. No other plans at the moment. Enjoy a relaxing Sunday. I'll be watching 'The Good Doctor' on Hulu and reading my e-book, 'Sisters of Fortune' a historical fiction about Canadian sisters who survive the sinking of the Titanic. It's good!!

Good morning all. It's much cooler here now with frost on the grass in the morning and strings of geese going over low from the nearby Reservoir. They usually stay around until the water has frozen over totally.
I have been working with the maintenance people about my wheelchair for quite a while now. The brakes have been a little tricky. Well, the other day I stood up briefly to put paper in my printer and when I sat down the right break slipped and I ended up sitting on my butt.
I have not fallen from my chair once since I moved to this house. Wouldn't you know it but my long time PT guy who remembers me from the early days at the other facility and the number of times they had to get me off the floor just happened to be visiting our house. I looked up and told said we have to stop meeting this way. I didn't hurt myself except for my pride but they came once I went to bed and took my chair and finally worked on the brakes.
Wouldn't you know it, is slipping again. I could just scream! It really limits the number of things that I can do in my room to put things to good shape. Come Monday morning, believe me there will be a work order on record!
Other than that, not much interesting Happening Here Right Now. Hopefully I'll have something a little more positive to report the next time.
Bet, I am enjoying the pictures regardless of who takes them. The leaves are changing here now as well.
Hope all of you who are dealing with repair problems or ill health are going to get a quick resolution.
Have a good day.
Birdy

Good morning.
We are in the three changes of clothes days. Warm clothing in the morning, summer clothing in the afternoon and back to the warmer clothing in the evening, and so it will go. Long pants shoes, socks, and a jacket this morning. But I forgot to put the windshield back up so my ears got cold. Two more days in the 90's and then flirting around with the mid to upper 70's during the day and mid to low 50's in the evening and lower overnight.. Right now it is 64º, a few wispy clouds and a beautiful sunrise.
Church on line in about 20 minutes,I'm still not sure I'm going to the Yuma church this morning. Going to church just for the socialization just doesn't seem right.
Yesterday afternoon my neighbor down the street, Jill, texted me. She has not said anything to me in months. Not since her dog died. She really suffers from anxiety and depression so I don't push her, I leave it all up to her. It made me feel badly but.... anyway, her and I went for a tootle around the park. She really had a load to get off her mind. She has no one else that she will talk to so I'm glad i was there for her. I can't help her any other way since we won't take help of accept any help, not even from a facility. She just thinks that those helping her are mean to her. So sad. It did feel good to get out of the house. hehehe
French toast and sausage for lunch, and a taco salad for supper. Well, at least I hope there is some taco meat in the freezer. I may have to cook otherwise. LOL

Bet, you have inspired me to go through some old pictures. This was shot in October at Avery's opening on Route 10 halfway between Piseco Lake and Caroga Lake. The leaves for just starting at this point but it's such a pretty spot. Avery's restaurant stood across the road with the famous stuffed bear by the door. Unfortunately it is long gone because it was a really good place to eat. They always started you with a corn fritter with maple syrup followed by a crock of soup followed by a salad and your entree. Dessert was thrown in, too. I seem to remember fresh strawberry mousse one time. All for $8! Birdy

Good morning everyone. Bet, just love the pictures you’re sharing. We don’t see the type of birds that you folks in the east do. I didn’t even see many robins this year, and I look for them every spring. Ann, never tried shake n bake on pork, always chicken. Which reminds me, haven’t made that in a while, and another easy meal too. Birdie, sure hope they get the brakes fixed on your wheelchair. I can’t get up from the floor without help, and very difficult now for DH to help me. Mamma, your temperatures right now would be just right with me. I wouldn’t feel cold at all. We’re all adjusted to where we live, climate wise. Not much going on here. Had a long but fun day yesterday. Taking it easy today. Have clothes wash in the dryer now. Just a couple of DHs shirts to iron. Took last of the turkey soup from freezer, have with panini. Our old standby meal. Bbl. Jan

Good afternoon, friends! Hope this finds everyone having a nice day on the last Sunday of October. Between OT, PT, and numerous doctor's appointments, the month flew by for me. Thursday is currently my last day scheduled for both OT and PT, but I think after evaluation that day, it could be extended for a few additional weeks.
It was my intention when I started this post over an hour ago to address everyone, but I have had several phone calls and am now feeling tired as can be. One of the med's I am on gave me an insomnia hangover today after going to bed at midnight and then wide wake since 3 this morning---unable to focus right now. Will try to get back here later.
Waving to all. Lori

Nothing new on my agenda today. Just been surfing the internet, often finding myself following one thing that leads to another and then another. I do find many interesting things along the way. It must be lunchtime by now. Will probably treat myself to a supper ordered in. Sweet dreams.

Lori, insomnia is no fun. Don’t think I could stay up until midnight any day. I’d really be dragging the next day. Are you able to take a nap? Hope you get to feeling better. Helen, I hear you on surfing the net, could go on for quite a while if you find something interesting. Emr, guess you’re busy moving. Will be nice to have your ‘own place’, even if it’s just temporary. Better than a hotel for any length of time. Jan

Although I never was able to nap this afternoon, I rested in the Lazy Boy for several hours and am feeling better this evening.
Jan, I normally do not stay up to midnight, but the medication I took has a side effect of insomnia for some and I guess I am one it bothers. I am sure I will sleep better tonight as my long day is catching up to me and it will be time to close my eyes shortly.
It was a short but sweet visit with DD and DGD. Lilith loves books and yes, on nights she is with DD, she does still video call to read Grandma and Grandpa a story.
We made the Cranberry Bean Pasta soup for our dinner this evening. Even after soaking the beans overnight, we ended up having to cook them an extra two hours to be nice and tender. The soup was good, but we did make some changes to the recipe. Plans are already thinking about making it again and possibly adding sausage to the meatless soup.
The upcoming week looks to be hot and humid, upper 80's each day. I would gladly swap a day with anyone willing to share your cooler temps and fall colors. Lori

Glad you are feeling better after resting for a while Lori. I would gladly swap weather for a day or two. I had forgotten we were due to golf today until hubby reminded me. It wasn't too bad this morning but the temperature plunged this afternoon and we quit after 9 holes because I was so cold. We came home and made some HC and that helped but it took a long time for me to 'defrost'. Enjoy what's left of the evening.
