Good Saturday morning friends. Another cool and foggy start to the day. Nothing really planned for today. I may go to the Festival on the Green in Chester. It is a 2 day event. I do not do my quilts there as it is way too pricey to have a booth there. I do like to stroll around one of the days.
Lori- thinking of you.
TM-Hugs to you!

Good morning! It's quite cool but cloudy this morning. There was a light mist all day yesterday...just getting us ready for fall weather!! Lunch with my teacher friend and a former student (who is now 51!!) was very enjoyable and LONG!!! Former student was very talkative...kept us entertained with school stories, etc. We had semi-homemade pizza for dinner which was enjoyable. Not sure what we will do for dinner yet. My Lawrence neighbor is picking me up this morning to go to Home Goods right up the road. I want to replace a few bathroom towels that are starting to fray. After that we will return to the Baldwin to have lunch. Later this afternoon there will be a piano concert in the living room that we want to go to. Yesterday there were two MIA/POW remembrances around an 'empty' table set with a red rose, tipped salt shaker and other symbols. A veteran who was MIA said a few words. It was very touching. Enjoy your day! Waving to all!

Good morning. The weather here has been just gorgeous. You could not ask for a prettier fall day.
TM, I know just how you feel. There have been many pets in my life and I miss them all.
I spent an interesting time on the phone yesterday. It appears that the jaw specialist in Rochester does not take Medicare. I called my excellus rep yesterday to ask about what questions I should ask them before calling for an appointment. Depending on the surgery my secondary insurance may or may not pay for some of it. Not good news to hear but I do have something put away.
As far as my neurologist is concerned, I am already scheduled for some tests. Thankfully, he takes Medicare--and that problem takes precedence. There are just too many things going on at one time here. I think from what my lawyer has told me that I am on the track to getting Medicaid but who knows when? I have to pay 5 months of the nursing home before I am eligible. You have to have a law degree to understand this process!
On a funny note, I was watching the tufted titmice picking up dogwood berries while I was eating breakfast yesterday. (dictation thinks that is a naughty word!) Someone had carelessly thrown away a white plastic spoon under the bush and I was surprised to see a bird checking it out. Before I knew it, a tea bag with the tag attached was flying into the bush! The bird started picking at the bag but I guess it was too tough to get into. So he dropped it and went back to the berries. Another had been watching him and went and tried the same thing. Same result. Is still hanging there in the bush and I'm curious to see what they will do with it. It must be that titmice like the aroma of Lipton tea!
Dear me, I am also worried about Lori. I hope we hear from her soon.

Birdy- Have you called Medicare? Sometimes when a physician does not take MC they will reimburse the payment to you. I would check that out. Especially if there is not a specialist close enough by that is in their system. I would give it a try. Brian is having same issues with his town Ins. Aflack is picking up some f his right now. We are hoping he gets on disability soon.

Good morning on this last day of summer.
It may be the last day of summer but the heat after today will not be fall like at all. This morning it is a beautiful 68º and sunny. Jacket and shoes this morning but no melting.
Mandy and I went to the big pet area and visited with Emily and Mary. Emily was so happy to see us that she barked and barked. Mandy is more stand offish. Mainly because Emily likes to lick and Mandy will not tolerate that, and neither do I. Emily is getting better at not trying to lick me.
I'm anxious for Oscar to come and see what getting rid of the french door will cost me. I would like to be able to use that door and to have it open more than a foot. A slider will give me that option. Next year I'll have to replace the washer and dryer combo. I'm hoping to hold off until Lincoln comes down so he can reposition my internet router. Mark has so many wires back there, behind the washer and I have no idea what is what or what is even used anymore. Lincoln would know. He could walk me through it over the phone but I prefer him doing it for me. Then I know for a fact it is all done correctly.
Now I think I'll finish my coffee on the porch. ttfn

Good morning. It was 54°this morning and to be in the 70's again. Sunny now but to become more cloudy later today but no rain until Wednesday. Well I started this about 3 hours ago but got distracted. Last night after getting my work taken care of from yesterday Alice decided she wanted to clean my floors while I prepared dinner. So I cooperated with her and got things set up for her and I proceeded to fix dinner. Once she got the kitchen done I got that mopped and the rugs in the washer and dryer. She did the rest of the main house while I finished fixing dinner and eating. I think we are becoming a good team.
I have been on the run since I got out of bed this morning. I had packages laying all over the place. I just finally broke down and bought some new clothes. I have jeans that need to be shortened but wanted to wash them first so got those done. There were also new shirts that had to go in the dryer to get the wrinkles out that is done. I also finally cleaned my stove top which was a terrible mess. That is done except getting the cast iron grates finished. I usually do them in the oven when I clean the oven. The are huge and heavy and don't fit in the sink well but I have one end of each of the soaking at the moment and will turn them around a little later. I should spend the rest of the day sewing. I have 2 and maybe 4 long sleeve shirts that need the buttons moved on the sleeves as they are too long so need to tighten up the cuffs so they sleeves aren't in the way of my finger tips. 5 pairs of jeans to shorten. Two pair have been waiting since before summer.
I bought 2 beautiful whole center cut port loins yesterday. The each weighed over 9 pounds. When I say beautiful I mean the look like they used to look 20 years ago. They have a nice fat cap the full length of them. When I got them home I trimmed off the side section where the loin came off the bone. I usually use that when I make sausage. This morning when I got up I put both loins in the freeze for about an hour. Once they freeze on the outside the cut much better. So now I have 53 3/4" boneless pork chops that will make 2 meeting meals this winter. All for $38. One the chops are froze I will get them vacuum packed and move them and the beef and chicken to our freezer at the senior center.
I really want to get outside and work this afternoon. The sun is rapidly leaving us. However I really want to keep cleaning. decisions decisions.
Ann, you have a wonderful day planned with shopping and lunch with friends.
Chris, enjoy the festival. The weather should be nice for it. Will you go alone. I like to do things like that but don't like going alone so don't go. Wish we lived closer to each other. You are lucky you have Brian and Dan to do things with.
Birdy, I am sure watching the titmouse must have been enjoyable. That is like the raven trying to take off with a bag that Fedex had apparently left hanging in a tree in a plastic bag at the top of my driveway one winter. He was really determined to get in the bag or take it with him. Sorry to read about your medical expense set backs. Have you looked on line for any places that are giving financial aid free for things that aren't covered by medical insurance. There are also sorts of organizations on line that are a great help for such things.
Mamma, glad to read that you are at least getting a little break from the heat in the morning. I know what you mean about wires and cables. I was glad to get rid of satellite TV and internet. There were so many cables etc. Hope you can get that sliding door you want.
Have a great day.
Bet
I still need to find the top to the dinning room table and the eating counter but think I might work on that while I cook dinner this evening if I ever decide what I am having tonight.

Good morning. I watered at Janices and then went for my walk. I should of done it opposite as it was so sunny out there, lol. I enjoy walking before the sun comes up. I made potato salad for our grilled pork tonight. I need to make some more muffins but that will be when I get up earlier.
Chris- have fun if you go.
Ann-i hope you find some towels.
Birdy- I just don't know what to say. Just know I have been praying for you. I had to laugh about your titmice story. I read it and then I thought wow she must be taking some good medication as I thought you meant field mouse and did they could fly? I had to look up titmice image. Lol
Mamma- it sure got warm fast once the sun came up. Bet- we bought a pork roast yesterday and had them cut into 3/4 inch chops. It was on sale $1.27 a pound.

LOL Birdy and Elaine at the titmice! What fun we can have with the English language!
Chris, hope you had a good time at the festival. Next Saturday is the Art on Main festival in Henderson, NC, and my sister & I will go to that. Younger sister won't be able to come this year.
Ann, what a lovely remembrance for all those who were and are POW/MIA.
Mamma, fingers crossed that the door change will be well within your budget.
Bet, if you're not busy working, cooking, or gardening, sounds like you are busy sewing! You can do it all and that is impressive.
Our nephew is coming over tonight to have supper (sloppy joes) and watch the South Carolina game with us. Hoping that we can win this one without too much of a struggle!
Our sister-in-law (nephew's mom) will be in town this week and is staying with us a couple nights, to celebrate one of the kiddos' birthdays -- the second-oldest will be 11. (I think!) I've invited any that want to come over to our house for supper Tuesday night, so chicken bog fixings have been cooking in the crockpot all day. I'll get the chicken shredded and everything measured out tomorrow. I also made a tea brack to have for breakfasts while DSIL is here.
DH got his flu & Covid shots on Thursday and still has a couple of sore arms but that's all. He was feeling puny last night and it took him a while to get to sleep, but he was better enough today to cut grass and trim bushes. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to get my shots -- planning to do what I did last year and get both in the same arm. I'd rather have just one sore arm.

I ended up not going to the Festival on the Green Way too much traffic. Could not even get into the town. Turned around and came home.
Bet- I usually go with DGS but he has a cold so was on my own. Dan says his days of that are over but he said it with a smile. He never liked going to anything like that but would for me! LOL I accused him of getting PD just so he had an excuse not to go anymore!
Elaine/Birdy- we have titmice all around here. They are abundant. I like watching them at the feeders.
I had some leftover beef tips from a meal at a restaurant last week and I made them into a beef stew for upper tonight. Was very good.

Good evening all. Just stopping in to say hi. It was an early start for a market in the next town. The weather was pretty nice altho it was windy, right on the edge of the lake. Because of the wind, we went topless again - and I do mean the tent, not a bunch of old ladies! This afternoon hubby and I took a trip over to the mainland to bottle a batch of wine. Doesn't take too long once we get going, probably no more than half an hour. Have a good evening.
