Yes, Tammy, we have a Sobey's, right here in town. The store is nice, the staff friendly and then are very good at supporting the local community, both the farming community as well as local organizations. They are fairly pricey and their parking lot is always busy.
And yes, you are right. They started in Atlantic Canada and spread into Ontario about 20 years ago. Not sure how far west they are and I'm not sure whether or not there at any in Quebec. The main grocery chain that I know of in Quebec is Metro.
Sounds like you're enjoying your trip.
Lori, we're doing the same thing - this is when I really like my tablet!

Nancy, yep, it took 35 years for DH to tell me he didn't like Sloppy Joe's---pretty amazing, huh?
Hopefully nobody in my family will tell me that because it's what's for supper tomorrow night! Sloppy joes and tater tots. Today we got Chinese for dinner and my teriyaki chicken sure was good. Plus I have leftovers for lunches this week. Always a plus. Tonight we had a bluegrass concert at church followed by a homemade ice cream social. Oh my goodness, it was so good. I don't know which flavor I liked best -- Rocky Road, Cherry Almond, Lemon, Butter Pecan -- they were all delicious. I made Orange Sherbet and it was good too. ;) Well, I'm going to go fold some laundry and watch a bit of the Olympics closing ceremony.

It turned out to be a busy day today. Made breakfast for DD and family and they left at 10:30 for there 3hr. drive home. Greg, SIL hurt his shoulder again, he just had surgery on it in March or April and just started back to work now off again as he hurt it somehow again, so probably looking for surgery again. He came without any drugs he was taking so all I have extra strength Tylenol. So he took some and they went home. Then DS called and he had the girls with him and came down to buy our friends big boat. So they came and ate here and then went to my friends and he got the boat all ready to pull home. They did not take it to Canada as they bought a new one on the way. Then I had to go to town and buy a electric razor for Dad and get it down to him. Then came home and did my mowing. So it has been a long a day for me. Now I am ready to take the boot off and sit in my chair then will be bedtime.
Nancy I can't tell any difference wearing this boot all day, except it does not hurt in the boot. When I take it off to go to bed it still hurts. Marlene

Here's the link for "Cook's Country Crispy Potato Tots" posted on Food.com. Cook's Country says you can make ahead, cool, and freeze in zipper lock bag up to 1 month. Other twists: (Bacon-Ranch)Stir in 1 tablespoon cider vinegar into potatoes after microwaving. Add 4 slices finely chopped cooked bacon, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon dried dill to potatoes with flour in step 2. (Parmesan-Rosemary)Stir 2 minced garlic cloves into drained potatoes before microwaving. Add 1 cup Parmesan cheese and 2 tablespoons minced fresh rosemary to potatoes with flour in step 2. (Southwestern)Add 1/2 cup shredded smoked gouda cheese, 3 tablespoons minced fresh cilantry, and 2 tablespoons minced jarred jalapenos to potatoes with flour in step 2. When I make store bought tater tots, I like Trader Joe's. I mix some mayo, sour cream, Parm, black pepper, minced garlic, and minced fresh rosemary and use instead of ketchup. (nice appetizer)

Thanks Ann. I like the method. I do shred mine and don't completely cook them. I have copied the recipe and will add it to the collection on The Cook's Crock.

What has happened to the What's Cooking Post? Has it been moved, and if so how do I access it? Thanks.

What has happened to the What's Cooking Post? Has it been moved, and if so how do I access it? Thanks. There is now a separate board for the cooking threads now. Go to the top of this page and click on The Gardener's Shed. You will see a new Board Bette set up called the Cooks Crock. I think that is what you might be looking for.
