Good morning! Storms circled all around us yesterday afternoon after a few rumbles of thunder. Right now it's really foggy out there. Nope, no pictures hung yesterday. Maintenance guy did come to get the serial # needed to send to Samsung for the safety recall. Then he took a look at the door shelves on my "pantry" door. The screws on the door hinges were so short that the door sagged with the weight of it. He put in really long ones right into the frame and then secured the shelves to the door using my idea of using eye hooks and nylon ties to keep it from 'bouncing' when the door is opened. Last night we again ordered up. We had the pork tenderloin, couscous, and succotash. Yum! Today, my Salem senior center friends are coming for lunch. We got a notice that the town water is going to be shut off from 7:30 to 11:30. I got assurance that lunch will not be cancelled...fingers crossed. So I have to get a shower in before 7:30! Enjoy your morning. Waving!

Good morning friends.
It is currently raining here right now. Not hard but steady.
Ann- Good that maintenance man fixed the pantry door so there are not problems later on. I hope they do not cancel lunch on you.
We are thinking of going over to the coast on Thursday. If it is a good day.

Good morning. It is 55°here this morning and head for 80°and sunny. Not sure what I will get into today. I really need to make the transfer station run that I have been threatening to do for over a week now. Caught to more mice last night. Will set 3 traps tonight. I wish I could find where they are getting in.
The trimmer is 45 miles from me. Arrived there at 4:30 this morning. Still not showing it is on the truck but usually the trucks are on there way by now. It better show up today as I can't take another day off to be here when it arrives.
Ann, sure hope your lunch isn't cancelled today. Sorry the pictures did get hung yesterday but at least someother things go attended to.
Tasty, happy canning.
Chris, a trip to the coast would be a nice little getaway for you and Dan. Just a day trip or are you planning on staying a couple of day?
Well it is time to go do something even if it is wrong. Can't spend all day today on the computer.
Have a great day.
Bet

Good morning everyone. We are looking at a beautiful day today just like yesterday. We seem to be in a dry slot between all these storms thank heaven. I am feeling triumphant this morning for discovering a charge on my card for a yearly subscription I did not sign up for. I emailed them immediately and received an email right away that my charge had been refunded. I really wasn't sure if it was going to work and I would have to protest it. It does one good to win once in awhile. I have not had a pork chop since I went into rehab last September. Everything is chopped and formed, breaded, and baked. It is a little hard to identify it as pork unless you are told beforehand. Especially when it is pureed. I have been treating myself to cold brew coffee pods that can be prepared in a coffee cup with water and microwaving. It occurred to me that using my morning milk which I don't drink but use for coffee would be the perfect liquid instead of water. I could pretend I am drinking coffee café et lait. Anything to fancy up my diet! LOL! This is the coffee I am buying from Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B07GH83WBD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_titleIt is very smooth but still has a kick of caffeine! It is the only coffee I can drink black and enjoy if I want to. Time to rearrange my dresser drawers. I can't find anything. When you have three or more people putting away your laundry it gets a little chaotic. Have a great day everyone! Birdy

Good morning. Oh what a beautiful morning oh what a hot day it will be! Mandy and I took advantage of the nice morning and we walked to the pet area. Mary and Emily came shortly after we got there. Yes, we went to the big area today too. When we got back I watered the cacti out front and the neighbors too.
Not sure when they are coming to get the golf cart but I better be here when they do. I have the things listed that I want done and checked so I don't dare leave. All the garbage has gone down so that is done. No packages coming today so I won't have to go to the office. It will be too hot to walk Mandy so if the cart isn't back in time we will just take the car to find a shaded area for her.
Bet, I don't like waiting for an arrival either and then it's a no show or so late in the day that my day is ruined or at least off kilter.
Annie got by easy yesterday so today she has to get to work. I need to call the groomer and my stylist. Other than that I don't have much on the to do list.
My meals lately have been nothing to be proud of at all. I'm just not all that hungry lately, not even for junk food, which is really odd. Cold cereal is about the only food that interests me. And no, it's not the healthy kind of cereal, I like highly sugared cereals. But today I'm going to try and make a pork steak and cooked cauliflower and broccoli for supper or lunch. And maybe half a peanut butter sandwich for the other meal. Will see if it really happens. hehehe

Good morning. What a beautiful one, Dori and I both enjoyed our walk there were quite a few people out at 6:30 also enjoying it.
Ann- enjoy your lunch with friends
Tasty- what did you make today?
Bet- I hope it arrives.
Birdy- glad you got results so fast on your credit card, that usually doesn't happen .
Chris- has Brian heard when his surgery is?
Mamma-i see where we are to be 111° all week. We really need these nice mornings. I wonder how many days it's been over 110° this summer, I bet 99 %,lol.
I didn't go to breakfast yesterday with the group I had a muffin that was calling my name.
Last night dh baked a ham and baked potatoes. We bought the smallest one but there is so much meat on it. Now, I need to come up with ideas to use it all.
Tomorrow, the clubhouse is closed so they can get ready for Richard's memorial service on Thursday. We will play our games at people's houses. I still need to decide if I'm going.

Afternoon, friends! Today is National Pots de Creme Day. It is also National Banana Lover's Day and on the early morning news, our local anchor people were celebrating with Banana Bread, Banana Pudding, Freeze Dried Banana Chips, and Bananas Foster. Our weather man was mentioning it was 82* (at 5AM) and he had a Chocolate Covered Banana on a stick. DH joked that we should go over to the local station for the banana breakfast buffet!
Ann, hope your Salem senior friends and you are currently having a lovely visit together and enjoying a delicious lunch.
Chris, hope that Dan and you do get the opportunity to go Thursday to the coast. Water and sand do the soul good!
Tasty, looking forward to reading what you and the canning group made today.
Bet, the mouse whisper! Yea, glad you are making progress in trapping those little guys, but like you said, it would be nice to know where they are getting in. Crossing my fingers that the trimmer arrives sometime today.
Birdy, your need to rearrange the dresser drawers, reminds me of when my DF was in the nursing home. You are so right that it is difficult to keep them straight when so many other hands are putting the laundry away. It was a weekly after school activity for me---same with hanging things up properly in his closet.
mamma, hoping that they arrive, earlier than later, to pick up your golf cart. In your heat, it is important, esp. at this time of year with the heat and humidity, that it is working at its best. Like you (and Bet), I'm not happy when they say a package is arriving, and then it doesn't show up and/or you have to wait the entire day for it to arrive only at 9PM! I have a package arriving Thursday and it's a larger size, so I hope this time it arrives in the afternoon when DH will be home to lift it off the front porch.
Elaine, leftover ham---yum---so many things you can make: soup with the bone and a bag of beans, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, breakfast with ham and eggs, ham salad, etc. Leftover ham freezes well. I just took some from the freezer this morning and tomorrow I will make a Farmers Casserole with it.
My arthritis is really causing me a lot of pain in my hands. I called my doctor, and he wanted to see me, but I told him there was no way I would be able to turn the key in the car to get there. We ended up doing a tele call. I couldn't help but laugh when he said my hands looks angry and miserable with the nodules. He hit it on the nose. He is sending me this afternoon (when DH get home and able to drive) over for bloodwork and they do an arthritic panel. Afterwards, we'll stop and go through the drive-thru and pick up some prednisone. I really dislike that stuff and how it makes me swell, but I have no choice right now if I want to use my hands.
Dinner has changed three times already today. Right now, I'm looking at Chicken Chow Mein and egg rolls that I pulled from the freezer, but that could change too.
Waving to all and wishing each of you and yours a beautiful day! Lori

Lori, I am so sorry for the pain your hands are in. That arthritis is rugged stuff. Elaine, I agree it's hard to find a small enough ham for just one or two people. But I do have several favorite recipes that require it. In fact, I'm having a ham and scalloped potato casserole from leftovers for supper tonite. Sending best wishes to all.

As always, our morning was busy. Lots of plain, old-fashioned strawberry jam, strawberry rhubarb jam, raspberry peach jam and a plum jam. We also got some mustard pickles and a plum apple chutney made. Altogether, 120+ jars.

Lori, I'm sure my arthritis is nothing like yours but many years ago my doctor suggested taking Tylenol for arthritis, as needed. I could take up to 6 per day, but rarely take more than one in the morning.

Hi ! DH came home for a little while but just left to head to therapy. Not sure how much longer he will be doing that.
The weather is a repeat of yesterday, and it seems will be the same pattern all week. Hot and sunny in the morning, then cloud in early afternoon, and some rain. I think today we only got a sprinkle.
I got up at 7 and made 6 chicken wild rice casserole and got those baked. Delivered it all to the church at 10. Not for sure what I am going to do for them next week.
I'll be heading to the kitchen soon to make up 2 more casseroles for our supper and one to deliver to a friend who is recuperating from an accident.
Ann, I'm sure you had a wonderful lunch.
Chris, hope you can manage a short getaway.
Bet, here's hoping the trimmer showed up in a timely manner today.
Tasty, what a nice haul of jams, etc you all accomplished!
Elaine, lots of good ideas from Lori for using ham.
Lori, so sorry the arthritis is giving you fits.
Waving to everyone not mentioned. Have a great day!

I feel like I've been running this week! Multiple errands after work yesterday, and then today I ended up staying late. I was just getting ready to balance when both the other tellers got tied up with customers and people were walking in the door. My supervisor said she would try to let me leave early tomorrow, which would be good if it works out, since I'm working in the afternoon instead of morning tomorrow to cover for her while she interviews 2 prospects for our float teller position. I'm going to fix a quick supper for me & DH of teriyaki chicken thighs and mushroom rice, from the freezer and pantry. Our women's group at church is meeting tonight after taking 2 months off during the summer, and I do want to be there. Ann, well, at least you got something taken care of and sounds like it will be a big help to have those pantry shelves secured. Hope your lunch with friends went well. Chris, a trip to the shore sounds great. We are heading to Summerville this weekend but I doubt we'll get to the beach. We do have a weekend at Edisto planned for October, though. Tasty, oh my goodness, your jams sound so wonderful. Bet, you might have to go get that trimmer! Birdy, yay for spotting that charge on your card and getting it refunded. Your coffee pods and milk made me think of the instant Vietnamese coffee I get from Amazon. I first tried it when DS2's Vietnamese roommate brought me some when he visited us. I'm generally not a fan of instant coffee but this is my go-to when I need it fast! It has sugar and creamer in it. G7 Coffeemix 3 in 1Mamma, I know cereal is easy, but I hope you will get motivated to feed yourself well, just like you do for Mandy. Pork steak with cauliflower & broccoli sounds great! Elaine, I remember hearing the saying that "eternity is a ham and two people." Thank goodness for freezers! I like to dice leftover ham and freeze it -- makes it so easy to toss into potato soup, or a salad or omelet. Lori, oh, I feel for you with the arthritis flare in your hands. I have some arthritis in my hands and wrist, and clicking a mouse all day can get aggravating. I hope the prednisone will give you maximum relief and minimal side effects. Helen, your ham & scalloped potatoes sound so good. I haven't made that in a long time. Tammy, I didn't see your chicken and wild rice casserole recipe in our cookbook. I would love to see it if you don't mind sharing. Off to get things out for our supper! Have a good evening, everybody.

Good evening. No time to reply to everyone but has been a busy day and I am getting tired and hungry. Dinner has about 20 minutes to go. Once I eat I am collapsing. Have a busy day tomorrow. Since I haven't worked in 2 days I really need to get things done the next to days. Tomorrow is going to be tough as today I ordered a pick up tomorrow between 3 and 4 PM in the city for 40# of frozen turkey breasts. That will be the Lions November dinner. At $1.99 a pound I didn't dare to wait. Should also pick up the shrimp as that is $5.99 a pound for 16-20 count raw.
I did spent too much time on the computer today but have finalized the menu for September and have the shopping list done so I can watch for sales and know what I need. Actually I am making the roasted rosemary and garlic potatoes again tonight some for dinner and some for a couple of nights from now as the recipe says you can do the 2 days ahead and just have to warm them up when ready to serve.
Besides the potatoes I pulled Chef John's smothered pork chops from the freezer and will have hot Italian cabbage with it.
I did finally make it to the transfer station late this afternoon and got rid of all of the cardboard boxes which took quits some time to break down, two bags of household garbage and an extra large bag of just packing material etc from the boxes. Also to big garbage can plastic bag full of jugs like bleach, detergent etc. you can almost walk around in the garage now. Next is all of the recyclable cans and bottles. There has to be close too $40 worth.
Now for the good news and the bad news. The good news. The trimmer arrived at noon. Got it out of the box which is a task in itself at 75 pounds. It was completely assembled other than putting the wheels on it. The directions and the hardware were were 4 different trimmers. I finally gave up and called the company to be sure I was putting the wheels on correctly. Now the bad news. Equipment shipped comes with no fluids in it. All it needed was oil and gas. Gas no problem but I didn't have the right weight of oil. Texted DS and he said important to have the correct weight. Of course little Podunk town didn't have what I needed so couldn't try it out. I will look for it in my travels tomorrow and hopefully get to try it out this weekend.
Dinner is smelling good.
Have a great evening.
Bet

My golf cart came back home a half hour before Mandy's potty time. AND the biggest greatest part was that they only charged me for pick up and deliver and $5 shop fee, which is standard, $45. They did all the things I asked them to do too. The other place I called would have been more like $300. Quite a difference huh? Now to see if they did in fact fix the head lights. I'll know when I hit a bump in the road tonight. But I am super happy right now and so blessed, thankful, and grateful. PLT.
Annie was sleeping but it was time to get out of bed and to work. She got knocked off her base so needed to be charged this morning. Now I'm not stepping on sand or dog treat shrapnel.
My coffee pot got broken today while washing it. So now to find a red programable coffee maker. It costs too much to replace just the pot. The coffee maker is only 3 years old and I love it. When I drop Mandy off at the groomers tomorrow I see if WM has another one and it just isn't showing up on line. Ha, maybe they will have the pot that goes with the coffee maker and save me some money
My lunch was good but as usual I couldn't finish it. So I had Mandy help me a little bit. Supper will be a sandwich or cold cereal. Not sure I want a sandwich though.
