Friday, August 23rd "What's Cookin'?"

Good morning! It's a tad wormer this morning at 51°, and a sunny day is forecasted.
Maintenance didn't show up yesterday, but there is always today. Of course we will be out of the building when we go to the grocery store and when we meet a friend for lunch downstairs.
On my grocery list is yeast! I'm going to make TOH's "No-Knead Whole Wheat Bread" to have on Sunday with maybe egg or tuna salad.
I finally got the runner rugs secured to the floor. I got the "Zongool Grippers for Rugs" on Amazon. They are washable, reusable, and durable. They are placed on the corner edges of the rugs and pressed into place. I bought 2 packages of 28 pieces each. I'm also going to try them on the three kitchen mats.
Last night we ordered up. I got chimichurri shrimp, farro, and broccoli. Bill got salmon, farro, and broccoli. All delicious.
We will have a light supper tonight...not sure what...maybe a nibble on crackers and cheese and a side salad.

Good morning! I have the door open to the screen porch, where DH & I sat for a while last night to enjoy the cool air. I know it's just "false fall" but it sure is nice.

We had leftovers last night to clear out the fridge.

Not too much to tell, and I am pretty happy that "it's been a quiet week here in Lake Wobegon."

Good morning, friends! Today is National Cuban Sandwich Day and National Sponge Cake Day.

Last night I was just too tired to get on the computer after getting out of the doctor's office at 5PM and eating dinner (I got a turkey and Swiss sub from Jersey Mike's). I sat down and that was the end of me for the night.

My doctor took me off two medications as he wasn't thrilled with my numbers from the bloodwork I had this past week---wants that repeated again next week. I got my script  to call and set up some PT and I got an appointment I need to go to shortly this morning for venous duplex, bilateral, lower extremities. My doctor said he's not really worried that I have any blood clots in the legs, but said he wants to rule out anything other than the edema in my legs. 

Right now, I don't know what we'll have for dinner, but I do have a big bowl of pasta salad in the refrigerator, so we'll probably grill something to have that with. Hope to be back later something. Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Good morning.  It was 53°here this morning and to get into the mid 70's with sun.  Yesterday didn't go quite as I had planned.  I got started a little later than planned.  Just couldn't get out of be yesterday morning for some reason.  First store went fine as far as the work but this town has very poor cell service and yesterday was no exception.  Our company now has geo tracking and we can't sign in and out of our work unless we are in the store.  I got logged in but had no signal so couldn't log out.  No log out no pay.  The other store in that town I couldn't even get logged in.  Wasted a 1/2 hour trying.  I had 2 stores that had 30 minute jobs and both took an hour and a half so it was also 6 when I got back in town and had 3 more stores here that were 30 minutes each and involved about 20 miles of driving so didn't do those.  They need to be done by today.  When I got home I could smell my neighbors grilling dinner so after I was sure they were done eating to be smart I texted them that there dinner smelled real good.  They have been here since last Saturday and I haven't seen them between work and the weather.  Usually when they are here they have a fire in their fire pit around 4 and at least one night we sit around the fire before dinner and have a drink.  They texted me back that they had an elk burger left over and would bring it over for me so they did.  So that was my dinner and we had a nice visit.

My DR Trimmer is finally suppose to arrive sometime to day.  It says by 7 PM.  Problem is I want to be here when it arrives as it weighs 75# so I want then to set it in the garage for me.   Therefore I can't go to work until it arrives.  I just checked and it shows delivery today but doesn't show that it has even arrive in my dispatch hub yet.  I don't believe they send more than one truck this was a day and I know the trucks should be on the road shortly so don't know what to do.  Take a chance and go to work this morning and hope I get back before they arrive or wait and hope they arrive early afternoon so I can go after and get my work done.

Lori, sure hope you get some good reports from you tests today.  Will you be able to get into PT quickly or like everything else have to wait forever?

Ann sounds like you have a busy but pleasant day planned.  Enjoy your lunch.

Good morning. It looks like we might have a lovely fall day today. It would be nice to have a day without rain.

Lunch yesterday was a lovely surprise. Our favorite Aid is going to be off for the next two weeks and her birthday falls in there. So she made us a complete chicken lunch since one of our residents had his birthday that day too and she made plans to put my portions in a blender so I could enjoy them. It was the best food I've had since I have come here. She slow-baked chicken with her special seasonings but don't ask. The list was a little too long for me to remember. She used some of the same seasonings in rice and made cornbread on the side. Our nurse made her special mac and cheese. What with a bakery cake for dessert, it was pretty much a feast.

Lori, I'm glad you're making progress with the doctor but it certainly is a lot to take in. Thinking of you.

Bet, has your company even considered the problems of areas without good cell service? It seems very unfair that you are putting so much effort into something because of that. We had a good spot of a very commercial area here that was getting very poor coverage from the cell company. Our Senator was here last year spotlighting the problem and believe it or not Verizon just finished a new tower in the problem area. It hit all the news outlets last year and I guess they were embarrassed into doing something about it. However, our facility here is just below the crest of the Hill and it hasn't helped us much at all. I have to use Wi-Fi phone in order to make my calls.

Good morning.
Today we went to the larger pet area and saw Bill, Molly, Mary and Emily. Mandy could not have cared less. When she was done, she was ready to go home. Bill looked at my headlight on the cart and told me to come by his place in an hour and he will see what he can do. The one side would go off and on and now not on at all. It's dark now when Mandy go out and I need the headlights working. I just asked him if he knew where I could get it fixed. I had taken it back to the shop, under warranty, and they said they fixed it, they did not! I will not go there ever again, that is not the first time they lied to me. I will not tolerate lies from anyone.

Karen and I are going out for lunch today. I tried to get out of going to lunch, but I couldn't come up with a real reason that wouldn't hurt Karens feelings. I should wash the sheets but I don't want the dryer running while at Bills working on my cart. I can wash them in the afternoon I guess or tomorrow morning.

My stronger sleeping pill gave me some good sound sleep last night. Woke up once to use the bathroom and then slept straight through until 6. I feel well rested this morning. PTL Even my cookies are tasting good this morning. :)

No luck. Bill being a tad older, like most everyone in the park, he couldn't get under the cart well enough to see what he needed to do. So I'll check with Johnny and see if he can help me or suggest some place. I can't have the cart tied up long because I need it mostly for Mandy. The asphalt is too hot for her to walk on..

We have been sitting outside since our walk. It's not so hot yet. I came in to get ready for swim class.

Bet- that has to be frustrating when you can't log in and out. Do you have to record stuff while doing the shelves?
Is there someone close to you that can help get the trimmer in the garage?

There are days when it doesn't pay to get out of bed.  I have accomplished absolutely nothing this morning except sit at this darn computer.  I seems that my trimmer won't be arriving today.  At the moment they are trying to find Charley Hill Road in New York City.  Can't blame UPS this time.  The shipper put the wrong address on the shipping Label and I didn't notice it when I got confirmation of the order.  I don't know if it is something I did when ordering or if it was their mistake.  Be wait it gets worse.  I called them and they said they were notify UPS but also gave me the site where I could contact them myself.  I did that and the dumb broad I talked with me just seem to get the problem.  However I finally thought I got through to her and she said she changed the address.  Checked on line says address changed but still says New York, NY so had to call again and go through the same thing again.  Now it looks right but it will now be next week before I get my trimmer and I was hoping to use it this weekend.

Lori, thanks for your review of Dole Whip. I have always heard raves about it so was surprised when I was disappointed. From your and DD's good comments, I'm wondering if the box I received had thawed and been refrozen or something? Could have affected texture and possibly taste? Anyway, I have 3 more little cups to try again. So sorry you're caught up in health issues. Hope your dr. will be able to resolve the problem soon. Birdy, I'm glad you actually had some food that you could enjoy. Bet, it's awful that your company is asking you to jump through hoops just to get the job done. Pretty soon you'll be spending time getting your plants ready for colder temps. Seems like only yesterday you worked so hard to get them ready for summer. Supper could be a fish sandwich and fries. DD sent me an article saying Krispy Kreme will soon be trying out a new sales campaign delivering fresh donuts to McDonald's every day. Sign me up!

Birdy, I wish I could be there to cook for you your meal last night sounds delicious institution food can get old very quickly so I can just imagine how old it is for you we're having about the same cool weather here but very pleasant.

Mamma, hope you can find someone to fix your light on your golf cart without it costing you an arm and a leg. Well at least you enjoyed seeing your friends at the pet area today even if Mandy wasn't cooperating. Great that you got a good night's sleep also. It was good that you decided to go out to lunch you need to keep doing that it is good for your soul.

Elaine, I'm sure you're going to be very happy when you can sit outside whenever you want to I could not tolerate the heat that you have.

Helen, the recipe I found that is supposedly what Disney released on the door whip is supposed to be the thing. It looks very easy to make basically some vanilla ice cream and Frozen pineapple in a blender I'll look for that recipe again and I'll post it here. I've never had a Krispy Kreme donut but from what I hear there darn good maybe the McDonald's in the next town over will get them I'll have to check it out.

Well I could have gone to work anytime today so much for getting my tremor it seems somehow the shipping slip got addressed to 640 Charlie Hill road New York New York. It has been a fun day trying to get that straightened out. I should have noticed it when I got the confirmation on the order and I didn't so UPS is looking for 640 Charlie Hill road in Manhattan. I did get out and get my work done and did a little bit of grocery shopping. I just finished cutting about a pound and a half sweet potatoes into sweet potato fries and they are now in ice water cooling before they go into the freezer. Just on a whim I wanted sweet potato fries. I'm also making raspberry Melba which I love to dip them in. Wasn't able to get frozen raspberries but I looked up and it said fresh in the same weight is equivalent well that's true looks wrong I've got about twice as much juice as I get out of the frozen ones so I guess maybe I'll be making a double batch.
