Good early dark.
I was not on yesterday as the day just got away from me.
Elaine- I am hoping things get better for you.
Bet- Here I am!
Lori- I hope the AC stays on for Food Dude!
Tasty- Season went by fast for you!
Ann- Glad they restored your points.
Elza- Good to hear you don't have to work extra and that they hired within so no training.
Good to "see" you again JanBC
Mamma- I would love your heat! We never got above 62° yestrday or the day before. Fall is here. Seeing leaves changing already. Not read for the cold.
Helen- I will have to look for the Dole Whip! I loved that too!
Tammy- sounds like you got busy yesterday with sorting all that stuff.
Talk at you all later I hope. I need to get the car inspected this morning and do some errands.

Good morning! It's 49° out there...a taste of September, for sure. Maintenance knocked on our door when I was in Salem, but Bill didn't hear it. Maybe they will return today. Last night's dinner was excellent. The duck breast was tender and delicious. I mixed the grains with the noodle dish, and the broccoli was crisp tender...just the way we like it. Not sure what we will do or eat today. Back later! Enjoy your morning! Waving!

Good morning all. Looks like it will be a decent day today, mostly sunny and maybe mid 70s. I think we have a few nice days, including the weekend, coming up. As regards planning for Christmas, our big Christmas sale is at the very end of November and we need to be prepared for advertising so folks know where to find us and put their orders in so we can make and bake accordingly. We cannot hold our sale in the hospital any more. The auxiliary office which we have used in the past because of the parking space right at our door, will no longer having safe parking when they start building our new hospital next month. We do have a new spot just a stone's throw away but we need to get that information out there. (((Elaine))), sounds like you could do with a big hug this morning. I'll be back later! Have a good day.

Good morning everybody. Hugs to Elaine also. Bet, perhaps a cannoli cake would work. They are very popular around here. This is similar to some I have had: www.askchefdennis.com/oh-cannoli-night-its-a-cannoli-cream-cake/#wprm-recipe-container-73285, or for a crowd, galbanicheese.com/recipes/cannoli-poke-cake? Also seen some recipes that soak the cake with a rum syrup or just plain rum! That would make for a cheerful meeting! LOL! He had a treat yesterday with hot dogs and hamburgers on a grill served in a 50s style Diner setup. The activities director was kind enough to arrange for me to get my hot dogs charred before having them pureed. They tasted so good! There were leftovers of the parade show I get to have them for my lunch today! Small pleasures mean a lot! Have a good day, everyone. Birdy

Hello and good morning to one and all. Today is National Pecan Torte Day, Eat a Peach Day, and World Plant Milk Day.
We have been up this morning since 3:30 thanks to some very strong thunder, lightning, and rainfall. The rain has been heavy at times and then reverses to a nice light fall, but it has been nonstop. According to our local news, there has been training over some areas and therefore local flooding and ponding on the roads and low-lying and poor drainage areas. At this time, things seem to be okay in our neighborhood, but storms are to continue all day.
Helen, I have been enjoying Dole Whip on the Disney grounds since they opened back in the 70's! In the beginning, all they had was pineapple. In recent years they've expanded to other flavors, but I have never had anything but the pineapple. As for Dole Whip now offered in the grocery stores, I haven't tried that either. I called DD as she and Lilith have been buying it for some time. She said they have sampled all of the flavors (pineapple, strawberry, and mango) that her Publix carries, and she said IHO, pineapple is the best/better choice. I'd love to hear what you think of it when it arrives and hope you'll enjoy it.
Elaine, I'm so sorry that your plate is full, and you are having to go through some heavy things right now. Praying things turn around for the better for you.
Tasty, sorry to read that you won't be able to have your Christmas season sale at the hospital any longer, but how exciting that you've found another place already, and even better, that they will be starting the building of the new hospital! Long time coming!
Tammy, reading about your Keurig and how it works when it wants to, I have to tell you mine does the same thing! We are on our 3rd machine, but DH said this will be our last. Every day, it never fails, esp. for him, he has to lift the lid up and back down when he makes his coffee. I really enjoy how I can have a fresh cup of coffee in minutes, but it does seem aggravating now three different machines and all three had the same problems. I hope the "new" machine you have found will work its magic for you!
Chris, when I first graduated from college and lived in Florida, they had car inspections. I was young and thought it was a pain back in the day, but honestly now wish it is something our state still did.
Ann, sorry Bill missed the maintenance knock on the door yesterday. Hopefully they do a quick turn around and call again today.
Bet, how did your dinner go last night when you put "everything" together?
mamma, hope you and Mandy were able to make a quick trip out this morning before the heat and humidity kick in.
Elza, a few extra $$$ in the paycheck is nice and welcomed, esp. with the holidays soon upon us.
Birdy, Jan, and anyone else I might have missed, wishing you a beautiful and happy day.
No cooking here this evening. I have a 3:45 doctor appointment and I'm sure when I get out, I'll not be in the mood to do any cooking. DH said he will pick up some takeout after I get home. Lori

Good morning. A quick out and back and then I HAD to sweep off the porch. OMG, it was so full of dirt. It has been just too hot and muggy to clean it. I really should have taken the leaf blower to it, but it's suppose to be windy today so all the work is in vain as it is. But now that is less dirt tracked inside.
I've got a load of laundry in the washer and then I'll change the sheets. Soon I'll be getting a special delivery of "Downy Rinse and Refresh". I'm hoping that will help with the oder that is on the towels. I know I could soak them in vinegar but that isn't always enough. The hand towels and face cloths are the worst for containing a musty oder. YUCK. Chris you wouldn't like the kind of heat we have in monsoon season, hot, windy and humid. YUCK.
Elaine, {BIG HUGS}
Gotta get clean sheets on the bed and then call it a day. I didn't sleep well so I'm thinking I need a nap.
Lunch is looking like it will be eggs, toast and juice, supper may be spaghetti or pizza rolls. Or maybe cold cereal again. LOL

Good morning. Thanks for the hugs. Hopefully when they have his memorial service at the clubhouse here next week, things will die down some.
Chris- I'm glad we don't have to do vehicle inspections, not that we wouldn't pass, but this DMV here is so slow.
Tasty- I would think with all you sell around the holidays that the people will be looking for you. It's hard to believe that you will soon be done for the season.
Ann- have you heard from maintenance yet?
Tammy- I saw where you posted lasagne for tonight on Facebook. I do have cottage cheese and pepperoni so I might just be making that. I use the no cook noodles , so its easy. That Keurig would be in the garbage lol.
Bet- have you decided now on the meal?
Birdy- I am so glad you enjoyed your meal yesterday.
Mamma- I was glad of the breeze this morning when Dori and i were out walking..
Lori-hoping your Dr. Visit goes good.
Elaine

Big goof!! Here's my post mistakenly posted on Wednesday's board ---
Sadly, the Dole Whip wasn't as good as I thought it would be even though this was the Dole brand. For me it needed more pineapple taste and was a bit gritty. Also the cup portion was about half the size of the Ice Cream Man's cup, if you remember him driving around your neighborhood. We hardly ever got treats but I remember great excitement as we heard his song playing louder as he got closer. I'm thinking that doesn't happen nowadays. Tonite I'm having Gorton's butterfly shrimp for supper. Will also make quartered roasted potatoes at the same time. Big hugs to all.

Good afternoon everyone. Good report from the doctor, in fact he cut one of my meds. Once a day is better than twice, I take enough as it is. DH asked the doctor if I could go for a bit of a drive. Doctor thought it might be good for me. So, seeing as how the honey crisp apples are out, we might go to Vernon tomorrow, or wait until next week. We’ll pack a lunch, and take our time. The weather has been nice lately, in the 80s, that can change at anytime. Tonight is clean out the fridge night, so no cooking, just warm it up. Might do a bit of reading this afternoon, gotta rest up for that long drive tomorrow! Chris, has DH got the results from the MRI? Hoping for a good one. Ann, sorry DH missed the knock on the door. Perhaps the work will get done today. Tasty, sure wish I could get to one of your sales. Miss my homemade jams. Birdy, cannoli cake sounds delicious. Never tried one. Love charred hotdogs. Lori, sounds like terrible weather you’re having. It’s sure not very predictable nowadays, is it? Never heard of Dole Whip. Don’t think we have it around here. Mamma, smelly towels, yuk. Hate the smell of mildew. Elaine, I’m sorry you have to go through that. Yes, hope things will get back to normal next week. Helen, hi, don’t think I’ll be trying dole whip anytime soon. Never seen it around here. Jan Ps, this has taken me over 30 minutes to type. Yikes.

Mamma, I learned this hint while caring for a parent with incontinence. 20 Mule Team Borax will remove all odors from laundry. I used it in every load. Problem solved.
You can buy it at Walmart or most supermarkets.

It has turned in to a beautiful day here in Ontario. Temperature made it up to the mid 70s and hubby and I took ourselves out for a nice walk. I vacuumed thru until the battery on the cleaner died. Plugged it in and it is now charged so I will finish that off in few minutes. The only other thing I really did this morning was pick up an order of lids and rings for our canning jars - 1200 of them. No, that's not a typo. Lots of jars come back to us so we can recycle them but of course, they need new lids. We will go thru most of them in the next few weeks! It will be another couple of weeks before the honey crisp apples are ready at our local orchards, Jan, but they are worth waiting for. I'm not a big apple eater but hubby loves them. I prefer my apples as apple sauce and usually pick up from the seconds bin and make a big batch in the fall. It would be so much fun if the gang from here could come to the market but I am so far from everyone. I can dream tho. Guess I need to find some supper for us. As it's already 5.30, it will have to be something quick. Have a great evening.

Lasagna is in the oven. Not that we are very hungry. DH and I were 2 of the 3 judges for the cupcake baking contest. The key lime flavor won. It was delicious and pretty. We judged on taste, texture, presentation and creativity. Some of the other flavors were tiramisu, raspberry white chocolate, strawberry vanilla, strawberry cream cheese, apple cream cheese, peach, and 2 different coconut ones. All were good. The apple cream cheese did not look all that great but tasted just wonderful. I thought I'd love the peach but there was very little peach flavor. It was our kitchen manager Shannon who won, and she also won the cookie baking contest last year!
We received some sad news that one of my volunteers has passed away. He is 90, and came in every Saturday. He left about a week ago to drive to Missouri to visit his sister. It is thought he had a heart attack. He was found in his car pulled over, somewhere in Oklahoma. Everyone was sad today at the shop.
Regarding the "new" Keurig-it worked ok this morning. I have had so much trouble with every Keurig we have owned, I won't be buying another one, unless maybe it is a used one. The first one worked for quite awhile then a plastic piece internally broke, so it became trash. Then I bought a tiny one, perfect for the rv. I had it one month then it sprung a leak and water was all over the counter. I didn't have any receipts, but I did speak to someone at Kroger about it, they said I had to deal with Keurig. I just threw it away. I bought a Hamilton Beach used coffee maker - Keurig style- and it worked a long time but finally died. I thought it was just me that was jinxed when it came to Keurigs. Our 2 sons have them and those guys have had them for years and years with no problem at all! Go figure.
Texas is doing away with car inspections next year. With us being so close to Mexico, I am kind of sorry to hear this.
Jan, hope you get out for a nice drive. Enjoy!
Waving! Have a super evening and sweet dreams!
