Tnank you all for the praise for the oldest of our canners. She may be 90 but she is still fabulous baker. We didn't even ask her to do these, she just decided that it was time she did something and we had 6 gorgeous pecan pies for sale. Needless to say, every one of them was sold - she had been concerned that we might be left with some of them.
It is a holiday weekend here in Ontario and this being a tourist area, town has been incredibly busy this w/e. The weather was again very hot for us but we did have a little bit of breeze this morning. I'm sure the beaches were full today but an awful lot of locals and visitors made their way to our booth and left some of their $$$ with us. We had a really good day! While we were at the Arts & Crafts show, on Thursday, the official sod turning for our new town hospital took place with all the politicians, bigwigs etc in attendance. Locally, we have raised over $20 million towards the cost - we have a very generous community!

Tasty, Congrats on your super sale today....May I ask how much the pies sold for? I have a friend that bakes apple pies for an annual church bake sale and they have gone for $20 for a 9 inch pie. They are often sold before the sale opens. She also bakes caramel pecan rolls that are a hot item and a pan w/8 or 10 goes for about $20+ ...they are big and have lots of pecans on them. Ingredients are so expensive now, I am sure the prices will go up. Your town has raised an amazing amount of money toward the new hospital. You and "your group" have had a big part in it too. Yes, a lot of very generous people.
To all who are in the path of all these nasty storms and unusually hot weather, take care of yourselves and stay safe.
Elaine, how are your legs??? I hope they are much improved.....You may need to cut back on all the work and care taking and stay out of the sun and heat. Do give us a report on how you are doing. Cheers Doris

Hi. My legs still have the redness but the swelling has gone down. I do have darker bottom of my legs anyway from working on my feet on cement from 12 to 16 hour days. But this is red rash type stuff so I think my sister is right. I will give it another day or to and then call if not better. Thanks everyone for asking.
We have been watching Debbie down by Florida. I can't believe all the power outages already.
Tasty- glad your sales went good.
Elaine
