Good morning! Thank goodness for AC...it's been an ugly stretch of the muggies. Looks like Tuesday's weather will be more comfortable. Yesterday morning my cousin shared some of her garden's bounty with us. I took what I could used and put the rest out in the 4th floor lobby for others to take. I made roasted vegetables out of my share. We had some with the venison steak that Bill cooked. The rest I may make into a caponata style salad. Tonight we will finish the salmon chowder and a few coconut shrimp left from the other night. I finished sorting through my recipe box and have transferred the folders to the file cabinet. Bill informed me that we needed to show our last three paid utility bills...electric & gas...for the closing. I have to print out those receipts, but that's all I have planned for today. Mamma - Coconut shrimp is available at our market in the freezer section. I think the brand name is "Sea-Pak". They are good. Elaine - Gosh, I hope that rash has gone away. If I saw that I'd be in line at Urgent Care! Chris - Glad to read that Dan's feeling more secure financially. Where would you move to? Tasty - Amazing...! 6 pies for your sale...your co-baker is amazing! Bet - I still cook as you can see, but I've also brought up dinners from the restaurant and made them into something else...like using the shrimp cocktail in a pasta salad. Good news on the medical front...so glad for you! Birdy - Hope you and your niece figure out what to do with your house. Like I did, you must have a boatload of memories centered on that home. Lori - I forgot to ask...how was that chicken recipe? Time for some breakfast. A toasted whole wheat English muffin is sounding good!! Enjoy your day! Waving to all!

Good morning friends. On this Rainy Sunday. It is raining hard here right now.
Ann- Our weather should gt better by Tuesday too. We are thinking we might like Georgia. W do not want to go to Florida as it is just too expensive. Georgia's cost of living is better. We are looking at land for sale around Americus GA at the moment. There is a really good hospital in Americus. Due to Jimmy Carter.
Bet- Wow Great news for you! Congrats! Tasty is right take some time to relax and enjoy life a bit. We are thinking that it will not be long before Dan really can not take care of this house and land. Snowplowing and lawn mowing! Maintenance and repairs. So a new place on land with Brian would be good for us. He would never go for an apartment. We thought a piece of land together and we ach build and then Brian and fam can help. It is mostly Brian's idea. DDIL is 100% behind it too. She wants out of the winters and closer to her family in Florida.

Good morning. It was 69°here this morning and mostly overcast and the air is very heavy. We are to have Tstorms this afternoon and evening. No much accumulation however. I didn't get up early as planned. Had my usual hole in the night for a couple of hours. Woke up early but just couldn't move. So much for my early morning plans. I do need to get out and water everything up the driveway that I didn't do last night and then I think I will work in the greenhouse. I have plenty to do out there just dead heading and need to toss some plants that are pretty much dead. I need to find some big pots and transplant some Italian tomato plants that I started late and hope they produce. I need to get at least 4 good tomatoes to start my seed collection again. I may have to buy tomatoes this year to can as I didn't get very many last year so I am running out. I have some financial work to do and get to the Lions' treasurer so we can get a figure on what we made on the craft fair. That has to be done today but will wait until the rain starts.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I wouldn't know what to do except grow old if I slowed down. I know too many people that retired and just withered away and they are a lot younger than I am.
Ann, don't get me wrong. I think it is great what you do with the makeover of the food from there and the prep would is all done for you.
Chris, I was thinking you said you were looking at Virginia. Either way it would be great especially with Brian and family there with you.
Have a great day.

Good morning. Ann, I've had that shrimp from the freezer section and there is more breading than shrimp. It is good though.
Bet, even in retirement I can't imagine you growing moss under your feet. Congratulations no more oncologist visits.
Hot, hot hot, that is the forecast for today. The dew point this morning doesn't look to be too terribly bad, so that should help.
Because I was having anxiety of the highest degree, last night I had to call Gary and give him my offer on the other place. I just couldn't wait any longer. After church today Gary will call the owner with my offer and around noon as soon as Gary knows, I should know if my offer was accepted. If we find issues with anything on Monday, when we go to check everything that is running, then my offer is off the table until whatever is fixed. Gary is adamant about no issues for me. I'll have a hard time sitting still in church today. hehehe
My oak table sale fell through so now I am back to dealing with selling that. I may end up just leaving it here. Who knows. I don't think I have any room at the other place for it either.
Not much planned for today other than church and pacing. LOL Have a blessed Sonday.

Bet- We could have talked last night! LOL I did not get to sleep until 4 this morning. I went to fireworks with DGS last night and he talked me into a jug of Gold Peak tea! Too much caffeine for me! LOL We had thought of Virginia but Brian likes Georgia (closer to DDIL's family) and there is a great geriatric hospital in Americus GA due to Jimmy Carter. Dan likes that idea, as there is a highly recommended PD specialist there too. Brian is all done working in February so we are thinking of going to look around about then. Lot of possibilities running around in our heads.

Mamma, fingers crossed that all goes well with your offer and your house sells quickly. Sorry about the table not selling. With the move hopefully you will meet some more desirable neighbors and make more friends. I was retired for 4 years before I went back to work. I was a care giver for my brother for well over 20 years. He was mentally challenged. As long as he was alive he had a pension from my Mom's retirement from the USPS and SSI they weren't much but it help with the household income. My DH had passed away 1 1/2 years before that so I lost his SS. When DB passed it left me with just my SS as I was paying off the mortgage with my house. I could live on my SS but with part time jobs I have been able to build a little nest egg plus have the extra things whenI want them. If I didn't work I am afraid I would sit here on the computer way too much.
Chris, I didn't realize DDIL's family was in Florida and that Brian would be retiring. Isn't it scary when you kids get old enough to retire. I can also see your choice with the medical facilities and Drs. that are available.
It took me about and hour and a half to finish hauling hose and getting the rest of the watering done. I was drenching wet and came in to cool off. Since I was wet with sweat probably should have just turned the hose with the cold water on myself. Been in here much too long now the sun is hot and next move it to the green house and that is going to be real hot but the wet pans of soil etc. are too heavy to move to a cooler place.

Hello All. Wow, you gals have been busy. Lots of things happening. I won't attempt addressing all. Just know I've been happy (or sad) reading all your news. Quiet here as usual. Weather has been hot and very hot and about to get worse next week with a high of 104 on Tuesday. Truly the dog days of summer. I'm about to do my weekly clean out of fridge and pantry ready for bins to be picked up tomorrow. I try hard not to waste any food but do sometimes still make too much. Speaking of, tonite's supper will be a sloppy joe sandwich and pasta salad, both leftovers. Wishing you all a happy Sunday. Hugs.

Good afternoon, friends! Hope this finds everyone well and having a good day. After we made breakfast, we headed into town to do laundry and then we've been streaming Florida news/weather since we got back, trying to stay on top of Debby. We also spoke to Fred, DH's BF, twice. Fred said the weather was a royal mess with strong winds and heavy rainfall. The weather is supposed to get worst during the day with some flooding and possible tornadoes. He said even though we live at the highest point on our street, when he gets off work this evening, he would drive by the house and check it out. Sure do appreciate friends like that. Still not a hurricane, Debby is dropping pressure and movement speed which equals danger as both are a sign of the storm strengthening. There were some minor power outages in our county, but much more over where DD and Lilith live on the other side of the state.
Birdy this is for you, our bird expert...The cottage has a large picture window in the living room. For some reason or another, it seems to attract birds--they fly into it daily, bounce right off, and fly on. Last evening however, instead of the usual bluejay, it was a morning dove that hit the window so hard that it left a mark on the glass. Feathers flew through the air and down it went. We opened the front door and stepped out to check if it was alive or not---it was, but not moving. At 6 this morning, I went out to look where it was last night, and it was gone. Do you have any reason as to why this is happening? Is it normal? BTW, we finally saw a different bird at our feeders...a red-breasted Groesbeck. Mommy turkey and her 11 little babies were seen the 2nd day we were here and haven't seen them since; two deer were seen taking cover in the bushes down the street.
mamma, praying that your offer is accepted and the walk through on Monday will prove to be free on any problems with the new place. It truly sounds like such a nice place; so very happy and excited for you!
Bet, congrats!!!! That is such wonderful news!!!! Praying that your CAT scan will be the last and will show a clear future for you in the coming years.
Chris, moving to Georgia would be an easy one-day drive to DDIL's family here in Florida. Takes 8 hours from my place to Atlanta, add another 30 minutes to Vience Beach. I will be praying that it all works in your favor for the family and a move south.
Elaine, hope that as the weekend goes on that your rash has improved.
Ann, I myself wasn't impressed with the slow cooker chicken stew I made the other night. DH said he liked it but left it at that. I have some left and will do my magic and turn it into a chicken spaghetti for our lunch this week. At this time, I have no plans to make it again.
Speaking of spaghetti, I took some frozen sauce from the freezer yesterday, so that's our dinner this evening. I will make a salad for the side.
Need to close. DH wants to take a ride over to the dump this afternoon when they open. In the back of the cottage, there are two large swing set poles that have been sitting there since he was a little guy. He's not sure why nobody has tossed them before, but today is the day he says. Lori

Good morning. I still have a 1/2 hour left of it. After church this morning. I went to albertsons, but I forgot the cream style corn so stopped at Frys on the way to get water. We have a water machine so once a week we are filling jugs.
Tonight, I am making meatballs and gravy and mashed potatoes. Last night we had scalloped potatoes and ham.
Bet- that's great news. God is good.
Chris- I just looked up where Americus was. It's a great that they have a good health care there.
Lori- I am glad your place is up higher, it still has to be a worry though being so many miles from home.
Mamma- hope your offer is accepted .
Ann- glad you didn't give up cooking as you are so creative when doing it.
Helen- I will have to put sloppy joe and pasta salad on menu next week as my menu is done for this week. Thanks for the idea.
Elaine

Elaine, thanks. I saw a new scalloped potato recipe the other day that I want to try.
I just came in and sitting here in the air conditioning I am dripping profusely. I was working in the shade but it is still hot. It is 81°in the shade but the humidity is still at 76%. Need to go turn up some emptied soil for a year of longer ago and bag it up to use to help fill large pots.
I need to get chicken out of the freezer before I go back out and some Kielbasa for dinner tomorrow night. Tonight's dinner is Chicken Marsala with lemon rice pilaf and a new corn recipe with cream cheese and jalapeno peppers. Also needed to get my little chainsaw as up at the road there I just hung a pot of Pink Lace begonia under my driveway sign there is a side shoot on the tree in the clump where the sign is that I don't like.
Back up the hill to get the soil and cut that sucker on the tree. Thank goodness for the 4 wheeler. I could never walk up there and carry equipment when I need it. I am excited my new electric start DR trimmer is suppose to be shipped tomorrow then I can really get things trimmed up around here like I used to have it. Unfortunately there are also some trees that have sprouted up that I need to cut also.

Bet, are you already seeing spiderwebs up your way? DH worked in the yard this weekend and he said the spiderwebs are already thick out there. I'm seeing them appear around the porch and deck as well. And I had to kill a big old wolf spider in the bathtub today. They need to stay out of my house.
Ann, I agree with you about Tasty's friend -- 6 pies is a lot of work! Good for her!
Chris, keep us updated on what y'all are thinking about. I hadn't heard that about the hospital in Americus but it makes sense to be near good health care.
Mamma, let us know when you hear something. Toes & fingers crossed for you!
Helen, you reminded me that I need to clean out my fridge and freezer too. Putting that on the list for next weekend.
Elaine, I hope your rash is better.
Lori, we are watching Debby too. Looks like coastal SC will get hit harder but we know how unpredictable those storms can be. DH was planning to go to his mom's next weekend so he is watching the forecast to see if his plans will change.
I got chicken breasts out to thaw for tomorrow night's dinner -- I think I'll cook them in my grill pan and see what kind of sides I can find to go along with. That's about it for today. I didn't sleep well last night so am moving slow this afternoon and planning an early bedtime!

Good afternoon, Another lazy weekend here. Just the usual...I worked yesterday, grilled pork chops for supper. Today was church then lunch out - Mexican-and home for a nap.
Mamma, I hope all goes well with your offer and the inspection.
Chris, I had thought you talking about moving to Virginia. We lived near D.C. back in 1987, and it was very expensive, at least that area. I remember hearing that kids can go to college tuition free in Georgia if they are residents.
Bet, great news about the oncologist!
Elaine, are your legs cleared up?
Lori, hope all is fine on your property.
Waving to everyone. Enjoy what's left of your weekend.
