Good morning everyone. It is a frosty 30º this morning and the high for the day is mid 40s. So far it is calm, but the winds are supposed to come roaring in around 10, which will make it feel much colder than what the thermometer says. Sounds like a good day for inside jobs.
This morning I will start in the kitchen by washing the dishes and a load of laundry. What I do after that still remains a mystery. I do need to pick up Curt so he can deliver a urine sample to the doctor's office...we will get the mail at the same time.
Yesterday was 5 hours with Phyllis, but she was in a much better mood although a little more confused than usual.
Karen...I am glad that the podiatrist identified DH's decline and was able to talk to you privately about it. It sounds like he will be a good go-to person for a script to get the lift recliner. I know my neighbor got a lift paid for by insurance a few years ago so hope you can get some assistance as well. phone

Good morning all! What is sunshine??? I haven't seen that in a long time. Just wet and dreary here. Hope the weather changes soon.
I had inspections at 3 sites this week. The BS tenants give you is something else. But at least it got me out of the office.
I had a rabid racoon Wednesday morning in the yard. I was in my car backing out of the driveway and it stopped right by my car. I tried shewing it away but it walked in circles and I wasn't about to go back in the house and shoot it. So I called the sheriffs and they shot it. They left for me so I could dispose of it. Kinda wish they would of taken it. Hope I don't find anymore.
Karen sorry to hear DH is going down hill. Have you tried Office of the aging? They can help with showering, getting an aide to help you. They are really a God send in my town. Very caring people. Or maybe an aide could come in a few times a week to give you a break. I'm just trying to help.
If it's going to rain again today I will start some sunflower seeds. I really want to move the plants out but the weather is not cooperating. Have a hair appointment today so better get a move on.
Have a great day.

Good morning. It's cloudy and may rain later. As soon as I finish the dishes and my blueberry pineapple smoothie I'll head to Walmart for a few things. I've moved some of the bags of garden soil from where I had unloaded them to the beds I plan to plant the vegetables in. With rain possible I thought it best to do now before they get waterlogged. Not sure what I'll do when I get back from Walmart. I guess it depends on the weather but I do want to empty and clean all of the litter boxes today. Since I wash them out outside that may depend on the rain as well, but it isn't to rain long.
Charlene, that is a long time helping her but I assume the compensation helps you.
Sandy, if the raccoon was rabid i would think the sheriff's department would take it for testing so they could warn others. That's what they would do here. A few years ago I had a scrawny one drop dead on my deck. It actually could have fallen out of the hickory tree. Knowing I would have to quarantine the 1 or 2 cats I had at the time I just buried it. I don't think it had rabies but don't know for sure.
Better get those dishes finished and get going.

Good morning. 30 and was snowing but stopped for the moment. Snow showers forecast on and off all day. High of 38 but windy, 25 mph now so only feels 19. Going to be a cold softball game today. Yuck!
Spent 4 hours edging my hallway and entryway. Less than an hour to roll all that. Of course it all needs another coat but that should go faster (God willing!). I have until 3 to get stuff done before I have to leave. Dh will be home late tonight. I am ready for him to be back.
Gayle-Dh had traveled to Colorado and Wisconsin recently, and actually WI twice in 2 wks or so. He has traveled more so far this year than normal. And no, I do not like painting but I do like updating things. Our living room has been the same color since we’ve lived here tho. Just ready for a change.
Better get to work!

It is cold an I'm under a wind advisory until noon. The feels like temp is 10º Time to get out the winter coat (again). Today I'm meeting my 3 sibs for lunch at a midpoint restaurant for all of us. The drive is around an hour. Coming home I will be driving into the wind. The four of us have not seen each other since Christmas so I am looking forward to the meal. My goodness, a rabid raccoon is nothing to mess around with. It would have been nice for the sheriff to deal with the dead critter. Karen, I too am sorry to hear of DH's decline. Looking into home health care or respite care would be a good idea. Melissa, dresss warmly for the softball game. DGD was telling me how hard it was to play tennis last weekend with the gale force wind. She plays for the UofM, Morris. Morris doesn't have an indoor facility so they often play in Sartell. At Bible Study yesterday, the presenter on the DVD told us to stay radiant. I am going to practice that. Marlene

Good Friday although a wet one, Charlene=Flowers but no sunshine yet here. was sprinkling going to and from the gym. Sandy=wish you had nicer tenants. Leslie= the weather can make us change what we do. Melissa= wrap up warm. Marlene=enjoy lunch with your siblings does that mean children?? Dave how many candles do you have to blow out! haha!. Saturday is "Thunder over Louisville" day here, they have a good plane show and big fireworks over the Ohio river. did go one year and watched with the children, lots of smoke and noise! June and I should see some of the planes while. if it decides to stop sprinkling might go dig up some plants to pot. yesterday man from Office came while was on the swing and said he is going to grow grass for me, he will bring dirt, seeds and straw, so hope it takes i tried two times a few years ago and nothing took then the Office sent a man and covered the area and straw and nothing grew! i am planning on taking the 5x5' square all apart and pot the plants.have a nice week=end everybody, Mary in wet Kentucky. 10.30 am thanks spell checker my fingers are not working right today!!!

Sandy....I agree with Leslie that they should have disposed of the rabid raccoon instead of leaving it for you.
Leslie....Yes, the monetary compensation I get from Phyllis does relieve some of the stress.....lol. Once those bags get water logged, they weigh a ton! Good luck at WM. Our WM is a zoo on Fridays.
Melissa...I wasn't sure when you were talking a bout a painting project if it was at your Moms or your house, but your post today clarified that. I am sure you will be happy to have DH home again. He may be a zombie for a few days, however, from jet lag. Brrrr....can't believe having a softball game in those temps.
Marlene...After reading yours and Melissa's weather, I am not going to complain. Enjoy the lunch with your siblings. Stay radiant....an interesting concept.
Dave...Hope you had a good birthday.
Mary...Hopefully this guy will get grass to grow. Look up to the skies today! lol. Charlene

Good morning. Guess I shouldn't complain about our temperature only being in the 40s when I read what some of you are dealing with. We do have rain supposedly coming in later in the day but we've already been out for breakfast and then picked up what hubby needed in the way of painting supplies so we shan't be out in it. That is a long time with your neighbour Charlene and even being paid, it means time you don't have for yourself and whatever else you may want to get done. I think I would have insisted that the sheriff finished the job with the racoon! It is sounding like you are finally settling in to retirement Leslie. I hope the kids don't take advantage of your offer of babysitting - I had a sister in law who took advantage of my good-hearted MIL like that. Hope hubby gets home without too much jet lag Melissa. When my hubby was working he traveled a lot, sometimes to the US but quite a lot to Europe and he became immune to jet lag. You're just as old as you feel Dave. Would be nice if the grass will grow for you Mary. Time for me to finish off my housework. Have a great day 😊

It is sunny and quite breezy here today. I'm guessing it is about 15 degrees cooler than we have been. Tack the breeze onto that, and BRRR! Today has been another wild one. Ups and downs all over the place. We made PT this morning and were slightly late, but DH didn't fight me or fall in the shower this morning. Because his therapist is a nice guy, DH didn't think he'd care if we were late. I cared. We were late because DH's priorities were a little mixed up. Things he was doing at the time could have been done when we got home. All in all, it was okay. I got the borrowed walker returned. The therapist adjusted the gate belt to DH's size in case we need that here at the house. And DH felt good tired when we got home. I spent some time on the phone with the insurance company today. They were able to verify for me that under our durable medical coverage, DH can get a power lift chair and some help paying for it. I was given the name and phone number of two places that are in their network. If I go through them, we would pay 20% of the cost. Out of network would mean we'd pay 50%. I was tickled to think we could get help on this at all. I called a local location for one of the places and was told they don't supply what we are looking for, which was a bummer. I am not giving up on that company, though, until I call the national number I was given. I had hoped to speed things up by going locally, but if they can't help, perhaps the parent company might. I also have another place I am checking with and have an email in to them to get information. They also seem to have a local address, so maybe this will work out. If not, I am wondering what in the heck I have been thinking. I see that I had saved some chairs on walmart.com that wouldn't be as expensive as I was fearing. If push comes to shove, I'm sure we could find something there. I think they also offer the service of putting the chair together and inspecting it for an additional fee. I think I've just been so rattled by DH's situation daily that I forgot about Walmart being an option. I talked to DM briefly this morning and had a chuckle with her. I checked in on her when DH was in therapy. When I asked her about breakfast, she said I wasn't going to like what she had. When she offered that she had eaten cookies for breakfast, I laughed. That is because I couldn't get mad at her for that. I had 2 cookies and cream toaster pastries this morning. There would be zero difference between what I had and she had other than I had a big glass of milk with mine when she had tea. I am heading out shortly to pick up a few things at Kroger. It's a good thing the grocery stores are so close to us. I'm there often enough! I'll try to get back later and comment further.

Karen, even if you don't find a local company one of the others should be able to help you. My mother decided to get a Hoverround to help her get from her room to the kitchen on the other side of the house, down a long hallway. She had done it for years with her cane but it was getting harder. She was told her insurance wouldn't pay for any of it but she went ahead anyway and paid for it herself. Later her insurance company reimbursed her at least 80%, if not 100%. A man came to her house and asked questions and took measurements because each one was specific to the person with regards to size, weight, height and which side for the controls. She couldn't use her left hand so of course had to use her right. When the chair was ready I think this same person came and showed her how it worked. She only had it for a few weeks before she passed away though.
And unfortunately it quit working shortly after. My brother thought it was the battery and got the company to send a new one, which didn't help, and my electrical engineer brother who can usually fix anything gave up on it. I ended up giving it to someone for a family member who had her legs amputated. I told him to let me know if he got it to work but he never did.
If my mother had not died before it quit they would have sent someone to fix it, but it was a little harder since it was hers and she was no longer here. That's the main reason my brother stopped bothering with it. He doesn't live here so didn't have time to deal with it.
I said all that to say don't limit yourself to a local company because you don't think you will get personalized service because they may have a rep not far from you.

Good afternoon, its 69° sunny with blue skies and a little breeze this afternoon headed to an expected high of 72°
Received the mini hummingbird feeder late yesterday so this morning I cleaned all of the hummingbird feeders and made some fresh nectar. I exchanged 5 of the larger feeders for mini feeders. Now with only seeing one hummer from time to time there wasn’t any reason to keep 8 large feeders for one hummer.
Could use some prayers for my sister, Shar. She hasn’t been feeling well lately and has been having stomach problems. She had an appointment Tuesday with her internist and had some blood work done. She also has an appointment scheduled with her gastroenterologist for the second week in May. Wednesday, she got a call from the doctor’s office he wanted to see her Thursday to go over results of tests and yesterday was scheduling a cat scan for that afternoon.
Sis has been calling both the doctor’s office and hospital yesterday and today for time of Cat scan, finally heard back from the hospital this morning Scan on rush basis scheduled for late afternoon next Wednesday. Shar’s daughter has been following up with Shar’s gastroenterologist and thinks it’s too long and she should be seen in a larger hospital where they can do what needs to be done. Her daughter has taken her to that hospital and she is now waiting to be seen. I would appreciate prayers for her.
Karen, please know that I am keeping you and your DH in my prayers. Love the cookies for breakfast.
Have a great day.
