A "quick" good evening from me tonight. DH will be calling me soon to come join him for date night tonight - Young Sheldon.
His podiatrist appointment went well, but also made me sad. On one hand, the doctor complimented him on how "okay" his feet and legs look considering how they looked when DH first began coming to see him. He has said before and reiterated today that he thought for sure one of the legs wouldn't be here now. I noticed him looking at me behind DH a few times, and when I went to the desk to schedule a new appointment he came up to me and mentioned how banged up DH is looking. DH had gone to the van to sit and wait for me so we could talk freely. I told him DH is slipping pretty quickly these days, to which he nodded. He had noticed a decline just since he saw him 10 weeks ago. The fact that he noticed and told me if I needed anything to let him know made me cry. Few people in our world seem to notice much. Maybe it is easier not to? The idea did come to me to call the insurance company tomorrow to see about whether or not I can get them to pay for a portion of a lift chair given that the podiatrist has recommended DH sleep in his recliner to keep his feet from getting diabetic sores. If they say any portion of a chair would be covered, I will ask the podiatrist to help with getting a prescription ready for a chair purchase. After all, he did ask and it is his idea for DH to sleep in the chair. I'm sure he would help all he could.
I was stupid-happy to find out that the PCP had approved the anxiety meds for DH today. I'd been sweating that out. We stopped by Kroger and got those after the podiatrist appointment. I also figured out on My Chart today how it is I am able to request refills and check to see if the doctor has approved them. This system is very different from the one the doctor operated from before his affiliation changed.
Finally ... finally ... I got the van washed in preparation for seeing the sales manager at the local dealership. I hadn't been through a car wash in years so it was a little comical to have the staff instructing me what to do. At least it is done and behind me now. One other thing off my to-do list.
I got word this evening when fixing supper that DBIL#1 is home from the hospital now. They are keeping him catheterized for about a week or so. Can't remember why. The ultrasound they did on him didn't show any clots, so I guess it was time for him to head for home. Hopefully he continues to heal there.
Tasty, I hope you are happy with whatever you did today. Glad you got to visit and have lunch with your friend.
Gosh, Leslie, I sure hope you didn't actually get to 90 today. It would be nice if the kids began working on a plan. I don't blame you for not wanting to get tied down doing child care.
I hope today felt better for you, Charlene. It doesn't take much for a foul mood to rub off on a person, does it? Maybe today was the opposite and your good mood rubbed off on Phyllis?
Marlene, hopefully the meeting with your accountant went well. Nice that your son can take care of the water softener for you. Good idea to schedule it more often to be cleaned.
I'll be curious, Mary M., to hear if the new feeders make a difference on seeing hummers. DSis#3 messaged me today and asked if it is possible that her DH actually saw a hummer whiz by a window. Migration maps do have them in the upper part of our state and she is in a more rural area than I am, so I think chances are good that is what he saw.
Best wishes on your cypress tree rebounding, Mary in KY.
Bet, what you came up with for supper sounds yummy. Thanks for the thoughtful words on DH. It is nice when he can comply with what he is supposed to do. I just wish it was a little more often. I hate having cross words with him, but this dementia crap is HARD - for both of us.
I'm pretty sure, Elaine, I would be whining my fool head off if we were in the upper 90s. Hopefully you didn't get that hot today.
I chuckled when I read that no one volunteered to clean for you, Carol. Same here. Guess it is up to us, eh?
Melissa, were you able to keep your pizzazz going after you posted? I'll bet you and DH will be really glad to see one another. I can't imagine him having plans so early on Saturday morning. Yikes! No more trips like this happening anytime soon, are there?
I am finding, Gayle, that the lift chairs are very expensive. I'd love it if I could get insurance or Medicare to pay anything on a new one for DH. I hope you find a recliner you like for less than an arm and a leg. I'm sorry you are having so much trouble getting your managers to do as you ask of them. Perhaps it is time for you to find something else for the extra money. If something different catches your eye, it might be worth thinking about. It's hard feeling so weighed down with the obligations of work like you are these days.
Well, I am going to start winding down now. We are expecting thunderstorms overnight. If it means we don't have them tomorrow, I'll be okay with that. I generally don't like nighttime storms, but I really, really, really want David to come mow tomorrow. It will be the first time this year. We were looking shaggy 10 days ago. With the rain and warmth, it's downright jungle-like out there. I won't even attempt walking in the grass it is so high. Hope the day was good to everyone. G'night!
