I just went out and took a few pictures..... 1st off...since getting 1 inch of rain last Sunday, my grass is greening up +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A tiny crocus is blooming....the plant is about 3 inches tall and the bloom is about the size of a quarter...SO much smaller than usual +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My 1st daffs to open. I know for many of you daffs are a distant memory These are about 10 inches tall. My daffs are usually 24" tall. I'm blaming our drought conditions. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ These are only about 6-8" tall +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ These are striped squill.....I took the picture to show Karen how tiny they are. Without getting on the ground to take a close up, it's hard to identify what they are. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have a few of these blooming by the foundation of the house +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I look forward to seeing what all of you have to share this weekend.....please and thank you. Charlene

This is the only new thing I have beginning to bloom. The foxglove and stella de oro are getting buds. I moved the daylilies to this spot and I think the foxgloves started from seeds from some nearby. Looks like there is a gloriosa daisy in there also. Not much Ican do about the crowding right now so I'll just wait until the foxgloves are done.

I don't post pics of my grandkids very often, but oldest DGD is going to her first prom tonight with her boyfriend. She might not dance in the usual way, or at all, but I think they make a cute couple.

Great pics, everyone! I will see about what I can share tomorrow. In the meantime ...
Thank you, Charlene, for putting striped squill into context for me on its size. I see I also have a few of the yellow pretties in your last picture. They actually make me happy to see because of their importance to bees.
Leslie, I have crowding to sort out also. Mine is with the red bee balm and wild bergamot growing together. I had stones in place with their names written on them so I could tell what was what, but I can't seem to find the red bee balm stone. I have a monarda mess on my hands. Pretty purple blooms. OMG! That photo of your DGD going to prom is one of the highlights of my day! I am simply enchanted by them. They are a very cute couple. I hope they have a wonderful time at prom.
I am quickly seeing why everyone was saying I had an azalea, not a rhododendron, Mary M. I was under the mistaken impression that azaleas stayed small. Your bush looks about the same size as mine. Pretty daffs and tulips. I used to have a set of bird feeders like what you have in your 3rd picture. Loved them.
Great closeup, Sandy, of your azalea!
Linda, maybe you can force tulips or daffodils next year to have at the cottage. My son's DMIL forced tulips this year and they are gorgeous! She is encouraging me to try that next year. I may do that and plant outside.

Leslie, that is such a wonderful picture. I remember that red hair.
I might have already posted this. I know I did the red ones but this is the first rebloom of the ones I planted along the fence last yr.
These are blooming long the side of the house but I don't remember what they 're called.

Wonderful pictures again this week. Gayle, I think your last picture is a white squill (scilla mischtschenkoana). We've had rain for the last four days and it's still raining, so pictures are not that great, as things are battered down and muddy. This rain will definitely green up the gardens, though. Lucille's Glory of the Snow (chinodoxia luciliae) This bed is filled bloodroot (sanguinariacanadensis). Each year I try to remove most of it, but it always seems to fill back up. The blooms won't open without sunlight or if the bloom has reached the end of it's time. Our white lungwort (pulmonaria officinalis "Sissinghurst White) is also blooming And the first daffodil has opened, almost Joan

Joan, You just identified another plant for me. Glory of The Snow. I have that one, had totally forgotten the name but recognized it immediately. Even before I saw the picture.
Melissa, the Begonias look great. Tell me again how you started them?
