Good morning everyone. It is 31º and my world is white with snow/sleet and the wind is blowing fiercely. The high for the day is supposed to be mid to upper 30s, but 40-50 MPH winds making it feel much colder. Yesterday hovered between 31º and 34º and we got a mixture of rain/ice/ sleet/snow depending on the temp at the time. Many schools in the area are closed today, including ours. I doubt we will be very busy today. About ¼ of our customers are semi drivers and with these winds they will remain parked where it is safe. The local customers may choose to stay home where it's nice and warm.....all waiting for the warmer days toward the end of the week.
Yesterday I took Curt to the post office and then he and I voted. Only 3 of the gals came for lunch. When they left I took Phyllis to vote and downtown for her to eat late lunch/early supper. When I got home from taking her, I started some zinnia seeds...208 to be exact. If they all grow I will not be lacking for zinnias to give color around here....lol.
Marlene...How fun to have a trip to Italy with family to look forward to.
I hope everyone else is getting nicer Spring weather than we are. Happy Wednesday to all. Charlene

Good morning Charlene and all who follow. Our weather is probably just a day behind you and possibly a touch warmer. It is 43 at 7.30 but will drop a couple of degrees and sit at 41 during the daytime hours while we have showers on and off. Overnight the white stuff may make an appearance but the percentage is not too high. Not a day to head out for a nice long walk, unfortunately. Right now nothing planned other than catching up on paperwork for the canning group and probably watching more curling. Still want to get into the kitchen and do some baking . . We'll see how that pans out. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Good morning. 29 headed to 45. North winds of 35 mph here as well so it won’t feel very warm. 20 years ago today I had ds#2. Where have the years gone? Down to one teenager in the family.
Yesterday morning I made a trip to town for some groceries. Once those were put away I did spend some time dealing with plants. After lunch I decided to start stacking the wood that is still in a pile. I had a spot between 2 clumps of trees where it could go. Made a row about 10’ long and nearly 5’ tall. That didn’t even take half of the wood off the ground. We do have some room left in the wood shed so will work on moving some more today for a good physical activity. I do have to run back to town for cream cheese which I somehow forgot for ds’s requested bday dessert. Duh! I will also go to the library. They don’t open until 10 so I’ll wait until then to go to the store. I should plant my marigolds today too and maybe the tomatoes if the seeds look ready. I suppose I better call my mom as well.
Charlene-Sorry you have sleet. Glad we have clear skies here.
I need to chat with dd before she leaves for school. Have a great day.

Cold and dreary looking here again today. The forecast is still for sunshine this weekend, so I am holding on for that to happen. We will not make it out of the 40s again. There may be a bit of rain later today, but it doesn't look like it will be much. I don't expect the snow that had originally been called for either. If we get any, it ought to be just flakes. The forecast may not be what I like, but it also isn't as bad as it could have been. We never did get as much rain as I feared we would. Yesterday I made it to Menard's for the tubing for the pump. I planned to hook that up and start pumping off the water but I was so tired by the time I got home from doing that, getting gas and picking up a handful of things at the store that I decided to wait until today. I'm glad I didn't pressure myself then given that we didn't get the rain I was expecting. I did some transplanting yesterday and will do more today. I'm getting impatient with the seedlings that are still in their dishes. Time to get into the cell packs. DH and I watched some game shows together last night. He likes those and it is nice to be able to spend time in peace with him. Not everything he watches inspires him to be peaceful. Today is the museum in the morning. After that, I don't know. I'll probably work on the seedlings. I am going to really be thankful for putting the chicken thighs in the slow cooker this morning. I don't always feel like working on a meal if I wait too long in the day. If I have the meat started, that is a great motivator. Guess I better get moving. I still have to finish breakfast and shower. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning. It's 69 and heading to 76 with heavy rain until just after noon. It started around 6 am. We are under a tornado watch as well. I brought my seedlings back in last night because of the predicted rain and wind. Nothing planned for today. Yesterday I worked for over 2 hours outside.
Charlene, enjoy your slow day at work. You might not get the normal tips but I'm sure it's nice having an easy one every now and then.
Tasty, hope you can get your baking in. We need the rain here but it is dreary. I'm glad it's not snow though.
Karen, I'm impatient with some of my seedlings as well, especially the tomatoes and peppers that are just sitting there. They will go back outside tomorrow.
Melissa, happy birthday to your son.

What a beautiful picture of the crocus peeking through the snow. I had sleet and rain yesterday followed by a beautiful rainbow. Tasty, when does your canning group open for business? Melissa, what dessert are you making for ds' birthday? Doesn't it just make you mad when you forgot to buy a key ingredient for something? Karen, a wonderful Wednesday to you as well. Leslie, take care during the tornado watch. In a few weeks I will probably have the same warning (fingers crossed not to have any though) Give someone a compliment today Marlene

Good morning all! 78° breezy and part sun now. We're supposed to have storms later. The air has a tropical feel to it.
Yesterday I raked leaves at the church in the morning. In the afternoon I went to see the new Karen Kingsbury movie "Someone Like You". I had read the book. It was good. The last several days I binged on The Baxters on Prime. This series also from her books about the Baxter family. I've read those as well but didn't remember a lot of it. Par for the course for me though.
Today I have to run errands I've been trying to get to since Monday but have been busy. The Circle and it's surrounding roads are closed due to HGTV's filming so I need to go the long way around.
Sorry about the sleet Charlene. Hope the Zinnias are a success.
Have a great day all!.

Marlene, all being well, the market will open on Mother's Day. However, we have already sold a few jars. Yesterday I was given a little over $300 from odds and ends of sales.

Good Morning (barely),
Still dreary weather here although the skies are a bit brighter at the moment & 61*. Rain overnight & light showers this morning. Tomorrow is to be the last rainy day for a little while but temps are dropping over the weekend with the nights in the upper 30s. Than back up gain next week.
Today is youngest DB's birthday. He is 70 & I have trouble believing that!! DB#1, his GF & I will be going to the house this evening for the Birthday supper. DB #1 wanted to stop & get him a card but I have one & suggested we all just sign that one. Less getting in & out of the car for him post surgery. Plus we'd have to leave early in order to do that & it would make for a long day his 1st time out. Sue was going to talk to him & let me know. (she's driving)
Don't guess I'll get anything done outside today; it's clouding back up again. Calling for Thunderstorms later. I'm sure I'll find something to do though. Well, take that back. Here comes the sun; probably not for long.
Charlene, that's a lot of Zinnias. The only thing I have left to transplant is the Yarrow & it's growing really slow. I'm thinking of transplanting it anyway.
That's all I got for now. If I think of anything, I'll be back.

Good afternoon, Portland hit 78° yesterday afternoon- the warmest day of the year so far- and temperatures this afternoon are expected to hover in the lower 50s. I can’t complain as we enjoyed several lovely warm weather days before our cooler temperatures and rain returned.
I have been working on bills so need to check today’s mail for more.
Charlene, that’s a beautiful Crocus peeking through the snow.
Tasty, that’s a nice amount for odds and ends sales.
Melissa, Happy Birthday to your son.
Gayle, Happy Birthday to your brother.
Leslie, stay safe a tornado watch would be scary.
Mary, I am also glad you are safe, 15 miles from a tornado is really close.
Karen, good idea on getting starting early on your meal.
Marlene, I love your idea of giving someone a compliment today.
Wendy, is “The Baxters” series free with Prime?
Hi Leroy.
Have a great day everyone.

Marlene-A repeat of last weeks dessert for dh. A cherry cheesecake pie. I did cheat and buy a premade graham cracker crust. The bottom layer is cherry filling (homemade-frozen cherries, corn starch, lemon juice and zest, and sugar cooked until thickened and translucent). Top layer is cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar and whipping cream combined and spread over the cherry mixture. I made it at Thanksgiving for the first time per dsons request and boy was it a hit.

I dumped 1.5 inches of rain from the gauge that was just for today. Saw my first hummingbird at the feeder I put up a few days ago so rinsed that feeder and added fresh food. Also washed and put food in the other feeder and hung it on the porch. It feels nice outside but breezy and still wet.
When I went to hang one of the feeders I noticed more buds on the irises that I weeded yesterday. Some have 2 buds but the total now is 14. I've never had more than 3 or 4 blooms, except on the white that are in the back and I think are done blooming for this year. I've opened a few windows for now. The breeze feels good.
