Good morning everyone. It is 33º and it's supposed to be raining, but because of the temp, it is sleet. We got about ¼ of an inch of rain yesterday. Not much, but at least it was moisture. Our high for the day is only 38º, so definitely an inside day.
It was not real busy at work yesterday. When I got home I went to Phyllis' for awhile and then didn't do much the rest of the day/evening.
I am going to try to force myself to start some seeds today. I don't need to do any cleaning before the gals come for lunch, so I have no excuse that I don't have time. After the gals leave I need to take Phyllis to vote. We are having a special election for city council person. The one that was elected in November had a stroke in January and resigned to take care of himself.
Happy Tuesday to everyone and hope all are safe from the many storms throughout the country. Charlene

We awakened to another wet morning here. I am going to need to get myself out to a hardware store or big box place that carries tubing that will fit our pump some time today because more heavy rain is expected tonight. I have to pump off the pool cover again. At least the severe threat has moved to the south of us. I didn't listen to the forecast long enough to hear if the snow is still expected tomorrow night. Guess I will find out. The thunderstorm we had last night pretty much died off in severity after I posted. It was nothing more than rain the rest of the night. I think I forgot to mention the trouble I am having getting a doctor to write me a prescription for my handicap hangtag. The PCP is really annoying me. I have asked 3 different times in three different ways with no results. He isn't refusing, just ignoring the request. I finally decided yesterday to call my orthopedic surgeon who has written a prescription for me before. I played phone tag with one of the PAs there before finally being told that she would only write the script for 6 months. After that, I would have to get one from my PCP. I think I made the mistake of telling the receptionist that I was asking them because of the primary care doctor being non-responsive. The PA was part of doing several of my hip surgeries and knows of my troubles so I don't know why she is dragging her feet. Anyway, they are mailing me a prescription for the 6 months tag which is better than nothing. My tag expires at the end of this month. Both DH and I see the PCP in June, at which time we are going to have a chat about what it takes to get him to respond to requests for things like this as well as why it took months to get DH's CPAP situation straightened out. He's a great guy and big philanthropist that does free clinics and does medical mission trips overseas during disasters, but what is happening to us isn't right. My plan today is treat myself to transplanting. Playing in the dirt is soothing to me. Probably ought to knock a few more things off my to-do list also - after I get the tubing for the pump. Gayle, I hope your WM situation is truly straightened out and you don't have to deal with that again. I wasn't thinking about the bags of mix being soaked when I went to buy them, but it probably wouldn't have mattered all that much to me. I needed/wanted the potting mix enough that I was going to get it so I'd have it. We had to learn to Skype with our DD lived in Korea for 3 years. Video chatting kept me sane then and it does now also. It's such a boost to see the kids when we chat. It's also nice to do every other week with my cousin. Pretty tulips, Charlene, in this morning's meme! What seeds are you going to be sowing? I hope the special election goes well. That is a shame about the council member who had to resign. Well, I am going to go get something to eat and drink so I can start transplanting. Wishing everyone a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning. 30 headed to 40. Cloudy and a slight chance of snow/rain depending on if/when. Hopefully neither. My yard is a mess already. I thought the snow would soak in more as it melted. Apparently I was wrong. Its all slop under the snow and where it has melted away the yard is very squishy.
Yesterday I stayed busy with seedlings, walking, laundry, dishes, watering, and planting. I ended up planting 2 pots of dahlias. A bit early but the tubers were starting to dry out. They were sprouting so I know they are alive. Figured I better get them planted. Everything else looks ok for now. Just need to make it another month then I will pot them all.
Not sure what I am doing today. Need to finish my book so I should do that. Its due back Thursday. I work Friday this week and next. Next Saturday dh leaves for his work trip to Finland.
Karen-Glad you got the soil you needed. I’ll have to stock up the next time I go to Duluth or Mpls. I usually buy at Sams Club since they have bigger bags than you can get anywhere else and slightly cheaper than the 2cu ft bags anywhere else. I usually go thru 15 bags a season. Ridiculous, I know!
Gayle-That is very weird that the order went thru. You must have a walmart acct for it to have your payment info? I would have been annoyed as well. I told dh that I want a new weather station for mothers day. Mine continually resets so you may not even be able to see what the high/low was the day prior.
I still have a cup of coffee to finish then better get moving. Have a great day.

Good morning. It's 70 now and the high will be 85. I have three windows open for the cats to enjoy a little fresh air but will be closing them soon so the ac doesn't turn on. Yesterday I spent 3 and a half hours weeding the bed on one side of the house. I haven't had much in there in several years as it doesn't get much sun anymore, just some morning sun. It was full of oak saplings and dandelions, both which required digging and pulling. I noticed a few 4 o'clock sprouts so maybe they will grow better now and I think I found a coneflower at the edge of the bed. I had coneflowers in there before but moved them so this one, if it is one, must have been dropped during that process. I will move it today to the bed where the others are. There is also a passion vine that I will put a cage around since it is starting to vine. I was going to do that yesterday but got sidetracked digging dandelions nearby in the back yard. There were some huge ones by the deck. This morning when I went to feed the stray I noticed 7 buds on the irises that I moved last fall. So today I will pull the creeping charlie in those and move the limbs from behind them that I cut last fall but didn't get moved. I will enjoy the irises more if the ugly limbs aren't a backdrop for them. I'm surprised they are going to bloom. I was going to mail youngest grandson a birthday card today but I think if I mail it tomorrow he will get it Saturday, which is his birthday. Today is sunny to partly cloudy, tomorrow maybe rain, so the weeding needs to be done today.
Gayle, hope you get your Walmart issue straightened out. Like Melissa said, you must have your account linked. I've had emails from Walmart lately wanting me to fill out surveys on the stores I've been in. They listed the store, which was correct, even the one in Columbia that I had never been to, but I don't trust it for some reason. I have the app and use it to find things in the store, which I think I did in Columbia, so they knew my location. I'm assuming they got the info from the app but I'm not doing their survey. I give each store a star rating when I check out. I don't think my bank account is linked to the app anymore.
I need to finish my coffee. I woke up way too early, went back to sleep and slept too late.

Good morning.
Rain here again this morning, the temperature is 47° with the high predicted to be 50°.
With all the moisture in the air the joints were not happy yesterday. We will see if today is any better. Things I was going to do yesterday did not get done. Hey, I'm retired and don't have to have a set schedule.
Have a good day.

A beautiful sunny day out. I could hear the wrens chirping and they always make me feel good. Exercise this morning then depending on how I feel I may make a trip to a nearby town to have my glasses adjusted. Yesterday I finally got around to downloading all the books I've read since losing my spreadsheet sometime in October. Now all I have to do is type in the books and the information - title, author, year read. Charlene and Karen, hope you get your seeds started. Melissa, are you going with DH to Finland? I would love to visit that country. December I am going to Rome with DS and DDL to visit DGS who will be through studying there. He will leave in either Sept or Oct. I am very honored that DS asked if I would like to go with. Of course it did not take me long to say yes. Leslie, creeping charlie is hard to get rid of. Good luck. Isn't that the truth Carol - we are retired and can do pretty much what we want and when we want. Reading is my passion. Marlene

Marlene-No I won’t be going to Finland. Airfare was almost $1000. Dh is there on a work trip with work meetings and dinners so I would have basically been on my own in a foreign country each day. If it was a tropical island and I could lay by a pool then that would have been more tempting. He will be in Helsinki but then travel to another town which everyone says is like going to Ely. The weather is much like ours too. Highs mid 40s. Not to mention the 10 hour flight. So no, it wasn’t even tempting.

Good afternoon,
Another dreary day & still another expected tomorrow. Right now we are 52* & having light rain.
I went to DT this morning to get a Birthday card for DB#2 & some batteries for the rain gauge. Stopped by Lowe's to see if they had any weather stations, but no luck. I'll check online in a bit .
Haven't heard anything directly from the WM seller but I did get an e-mail that the item has been shipped & should arrive tomorrow even though he was instructed to cancel the order. So I guess I will be contacting WM when it gets here to see what the next step is. In the chat they said if the item got shipped that they(WM)would refund my money. I wonder if that means I get to keep it. Now, that would be nice.
Yes, Melissa I do have an acct with WM so they have my pmt. options on hand. One of the problems is & also one of the reasons I decided not to place the order yesterday is that I didn't want it charged to my bank acct. Which is what they did.
Has your DH been on any of these out of the country work trips before? How long will he be gone?
BTW, Lowe's did not have much garden stuff out yet, especially in the outdoor sector. I did see some nice collections, reasonably priced, of Tiger Lilies, Hosta & Columbine that I might buy when I start putting that back yard together. Boxes of 7 each for $14.99 per box.. Cheaper than the catalogs. Plus I have gift card that will pay for it.
Sue tells me DB had his next to last PT visit today & he walked up the steps to the 2nd floor & back down with no issues. I had felt like he wasn't moving around enough, so this is good news.
When I got back from running errands today I started laundry. I need to go put the 2nd load in the dryer.

Gayle-Dh has been on work trips to Canada but never to Finland. That is where the company HQ is located. Of course the last few years they have just had virtual meetings so its the first time doing this in person in a while. Probably the last time he was in a different position and now hes a manager.

A good morning canning but it was hard having to concentrate for an extended period. Got some housework done this afternoon - the living room is now respectable then a quick supper sandwiched between watching 2 curling games. This evening we are watching the game against the US team of John Shuster .
