Karen, your daffodils are lovely, I noticed my neighbor's daffodils have finished blooming and as mine are later bloomers I still have my yellow ones and my white ones I named Dr. Truth. Gayle, I like your idea of planting tulips in pots. I think I will keep my old tulip plant where it is as it seems to like it's location. Also last year when I had to have my water lines replaced they are underground and close to that area.

Very pretty pear blossoms, Mary M.
Gayle, I'm glad to see your tulips are blooming. Mac's Chicago grandma started a gardening page on FB and invited me to join. Gardening is one of the many things we have in common so she knew I would enjoy the page. She has encouraged me to force tulip bulbs next year since she has had wonderful luck with some really gorgeous purple tulips. It helps that we are in the same growing zone when we share gardening tips and tricks.

Pretty peach blossoms, Mary. Gayle, lovely tulips. I gave up on them years ago because they don't come back here, or if they do they don't bloom. This isn't a great photo and as you can tell this is one area I haven't weeded. When I got home tonight I noticed some color and found this volunteer nicotiana. It's been several years since I've had one so I'm a bit surprised. It's a pitifully small plant but it's blooming.

I love the tulips. We’ll see if I get any blooms. I had some potted indoor ones last year I planted. If they don’t bloom I’ll probably pull them. They greens are up 2”. I have some daff buds on the small daffs. Karen yours look great. My hyacinth are just up. Volunteer plants are always fun Leslie. Dh bought me potted hyaciths for easter. They smell so good!

Melissa...I have only found a hummingbird nest once and it was the following Spring high up in my wisteria vine. They're so small and intricate. Nice to get hyacinths for Easter! I love their scent. Mary...Your tulips are beautiful. Many of my tulips are old so I am thrilled every year when I see them bloom. Lovely pear clooms....do they have a scent? Karen...Your daffs just scream Spring! Very pretty. Gayle....Your tulips are pretty. I am surprised you don't have then indoors to enjoy. Leslie....Aren't those garden surprises fun? I also haven't grown nicotiana for a few years, but I've never had them self sow. Speaking of surprises....I planted this tray of seeds Tuesday evening. I am shocked how many are up already.

Leslie, I feel like you may have sent me white nicotiana seeds YEARS ago, but maybe not. In any case, I didn't plant any last year and had some of the loveliest blooms from a couple of volunteers. I don't think I had planted them in a few years and definitely not where they came up, but I really loved them. I guess once you plant nicotiana there is always a chance you might see them again?
I love that you are getting early germination, Charlene! That is always encouraging. I haven't seen a tray set-up like that before. I'm intrigued. You can get a lot in one tray.

Karen...Last years I was at menards and they had these on sale for $5.97, so I bought 3 of them. I figured that was cheap for over 300 cells complete with plugs. When I checked out they rang up at $4.00 each, so even cheaper than I thought. They have a hole in the center to plant one seed, but I "fluff up" the plug and plant 2-3 per cell.

Very good to know, Charlene! I am going to keep my eyes out for those. The original price was not bad, but the sale price was awesome.

The original price was not bad, but the sale price was awesome. Karen...actually the original price was almost $12 and they were 50% off at 5.97...not sure why the additional was taken off at the checkout, but I didn't complain....lol

Look who surprised me this morning. I've had buds on my hibiscus off and on all winter long; they always fell off before they opened. I saw this yesterday and figured, "Yeah, it'll drop off." Imagine my surprise this morning when it was open.
