Good morning! Slept a bit later this morning since I stayed up later last night. It's warm but cloudy. Had one window open a bit last night. Even with that, I was hot sleeping! Sauerbraten was delicious last night. I just took notes from the recipe I found online. I'm trying to avoid running off more recipes. I used thin eye round 'cutlets'(1/4") that I cut into thirds. I sautéed some mire poix in my pressure skillet and added the meat. I mixed 2 beef gravy packets with water, wine, vinegar, ginger, and pepper in a 2 cup measure and added it to the cooker. I mixed all and brought it up to pressure for 20 minutes with a 10 minute natural release. Served it with noodles and the sautéed squash medley. Dessert was blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. Perfect Saturday dinner! Tonight we will have lamb Scotch broth with cheesy bread or crackers. No other plans! Enjoy your day! Waving!

Good morning friends.
I am getting ready to head to CT today with Dan's 91 yo cousin to see her relatives down there for a birthday party. I think Dan will be over at Brian's for the day. So I will get him from there when I get home unless Brian has already brought him home. Nothing planned for tomorrow so I will sleep in and relax for the day. Maybe I can get some sewing in.
Ann- I like your recipe. I may copy it and try it. I had a Kentucky Bourbon Pecan pie for dessert yesterday! Wow was that ever good but rich.

Good morning and happy Easter to you all. It's only 36 here this morning but the sun is pouring in our windows - all our windows face east or south so early morning sunshine is a great bonus. Glad dinner last night was so good Ann. Sounds like a long day for you Chris - good that Dan will spend the day with Brian. Bet- enjoy the day with family - what are you making for dinner? Yesterday was a busy day here with laundry, grocery shopping, celebration of life and a birthday dinner! And when we came home, we watched some curling on tv but we were both too tired to see the end of the game. The men's world's are being broadcast from Switzerland so right now, we are watching Canada's game against Scotland. No plans for the rest of the day - we'll just take it as it comes. Do need to decide on supper. Have a wonderful day 😘 .

Good morning and Happy Easter to all.
It rained most of the night and it is now a cold 50º with a damp chill in the air. Winter coat weather this morning. I wish I had not folded down the windshield on the golf cart. The cold air was blasting me in the face. Now it's time to warm up to a hot cup of coffee..
Nothing planned for today, just a do nothing day. Well, church on line of course but no work planned. I'll have enough to do tomorrow.

Good morning and Happy Easter everyone. Ann, supper last night sounds yummy, as usual. Haven’t had scotch broth in years. Was my favourite soup growing up. Chris, enjoy your busy day today. Tomorrow you’ll welcome a do nothing relaxing day. Bet, happy Easter to you and yours too. Enjoy your visit with DS and family. Tasty, you did have a very busy day yesterday. A day of relaxation will do you both good. Hi to everyone else I’ve missed. Have no idea what’s going on today. Plans might change. Will just have to take the day as it comes, I guess. If we have company, I’ll make the rutabaga tomorrow. Not too sure how well it would appeal to others. Jan

Good morning. Happy Easter to you all!
All of your plans sounds great for today. I'm not sure what Easter dinner will be here but my niece is visiting just about dinner time so I will request that it be delivered to my room. Family and guests are never allowed in the dining room because of concerns with covid and other infections still.
We may see some of the sun this afternoon which should be great. The rest of the week sounds a little iffy.
Chris, I was impressed with the variety of subjects you were teaching. I'm sure you're looking for a little time off now.
Jan, I think right about the rutabaga. I know I would enjoy it but for some people it might be a bit of a shock. LOL!
Have a great day everybody.

Good morning. A quick break. The ham just went in the oven. As far as a menu it has changed several times since I got up this morning. The biscuits are baked for the short cake and have decided on a roasted Parmesan mini potatoes, asparagus and dinner rolls. Real simple and quick.
Birdy if they are having ham you should request a ham salad. It would be just like you other pureed food but would taste a lot better. Put the ham though a food grinder, add some sweet pickle relish, a little onion that when through the food grinder with the meat and mayo. I eat in on a sandwich but it is good by itself.
Tasty, I am sure you are happy to be home. However after yesterday I think you need a day of do nothing.
Lori, hope you are enjoying the family. I am looking for some simple ideas for a gluten free dessert to serve to about 30 people. Any suggestions. I have seen a lot of things with oats but I know that all quick cooking oats etc. aren't gluten free.
Mamma, I am sure you are excited about getting the painting done tomorrow.
Jan, it is always nice if you can take the day as it comes.
Ann, I found you method of cooking you meet interesting with the pressure skillet. I would imagine I could do the same thing in my Instant Pot.
Need to get back to the kitchen and then have a dance with the vacuum and see if I can find my dining room table. I don't like big meals in the middle of the afternoon.

**Afternoon! It was supposed to be a cloudy, rainy day, but the sun is shining, and it's 60°! Lazy enough day...had a blissful nap under quilts and the bedroom window open a bit and the ceiling fan on. Got up, reluctantly, to find Bill making his venison meat pie for tomorrow! Soup is ready to heat along with some ciabatta rolls. Rutabaga is one of my favorite vegetables. I had a recipe printed in TOH for a cabbage and rutabaga slaw with apple dressing (Ken's). www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cabbage-and-rutabaga-slaw/We like to snack on rutabaga and carrot sticks, and I love it mashed with nutmeg, butter, salt & pepper. It's an equal vegetable partner in my ham or corned beef dinners. After reading the Sunday paper, we watched another episode of Prime's "Duchess of Duke Street", a drama based on the life of Rosa Lewis of the Cavendish Hotel. 'Louisa Trotter' begins as an assistant cook, becomes Edward VII's mistress and then owner of a fashionable London hotel. Interesting! Not much hand washing when handling food! Pie is in the oven; time to heat the soup. Enjoy your evening!

Good evening, friends. As per our Lilith, Happy Easter Bunny Day! DH and I had a lovely visit with DD and DGD. We had an early lunch of grilled flounder and potato salad, cauliflower and olive salad, and marinated cukes. Simple, light, and delicious.
Bet, I am so sorry, but I don't have a GF dessert recipe that I can share with you. When DD's divorce was final earlier this month, out went the GF recipes! In the few years that I did try making anything GF, I had a very difficult time. What little sweets I made were cookies and although they were ok, I wouldn't have called them great (reminded me of eating sawdust). They were mainly made using almond flour, sometimes oat flour. DD doesn't eat GF any longer, now basically just DF. It is so much easier to cook and bake dairy free, which makes me happier. Once more, sorry I have nothing I can share with you---there are many websites offering GF desserts; hopefully you can find something there to prepare. Best of luck.
Nothing planned to do this evening but relax with my book. Waving to all---hope you and yours had a blessed day! Lori
