Was it maybe today that mamma was off with her friends for the day? You may be right. If so, I hope they are all having a wonderful time!

Hello, We won't be celebrating any of those food holidays either. I am browning a pork roast and will have it with leftover veggies from last night. The dinner went well last night, they loved everything and it was nice to get caught up with them. Our guests were Jack and his wife Sue. Jack is the old friend who owned the coffee shop in town that I used to bake for. He has recently sold the shop to a church that meets there.
Today I dropped the dog off at the groomer then came home and did some laundry for the shop. Pizza was served over at the maintenance managers office so DH invited me there for lunch. Then it was time to pick up the dog, then I drove over and picked up some donations and we just finished getting those unloaded into a shed. Whew, I am ready for a break!
It is about 69 and mostly sunny here.
DH mentioned taking tomorrow and Friday off. We'll see if he was serious.
DH just called me to come outside. Our front flowerbed is really overgrown with weeds, so he was pulling alot of the junk out and found a little nest with some baby bunnies in it! So cute.
Waving to all. Hope everyone enjoyed their day.

I finally decided to brown the pork chops and am in the process of making the Saucy Pork Chop recipe that Elza posted years ago. Not sure, but they sound familiar, but since I can't remember them, they'll be new to us tonight. I will serve with noodles to soak up some of the sauce and a green salad.
Today and the remainder of the week, DH will be working at an elementary school just 5 minutes down the road. He said he couldn't believe it, but the last group of students that came through, they had run out of food to feed the children. He said never had he heard of such a thing and was surprised (most school he's been at might now and then run out of one item, but not everything) He said they had to tell the students that the cook was putting on what she could from the freezer, take a seat in the lunchroom and they'd call them when the food was ready. When the food was ready, this group of 5th graders were upset as it wasn't what was on the menu and some of the boys started bad-mouthing the lunchroom staff. DH told them not to be so ungrateful and instead be glad that the staff stayed 45 minutes longer and cooked them a hot meal, even if it wasn't what was on the menu. Next Monday, DH will return to one of our high schools (we have 6 in the county) where he might be until the end of the school year in May (they are shorthanded two people and with just 8 or 9 weeks of school remaining, they probably won't hire anyone at this point).
DH is planning to go Saturday and spend a few hours with Fred (his BF with throat cancer), so he asked if I could bake some treats for him to take. Thinking I will make some cookies tomorrow and/or brownies and then again something else on Friday.
Just got a text from my DB; he was south of Atlanta this morning, got up and on the road at 4:15 and just arrived home in Michigan. He sure made excellent time!
Need to get back into the kitchen and check on dinner. Lori
