Hey, everybody. I've been reading and started to reply yesterday but then we ended up going out, so here I am almost 24 hours later!
I started out my 4-day holiday by doing all the grocery shopping for all the cooking I want to get done. I was checking ads and planning my route. Aldi, Sams, Food Lion, and Walmart -- got everything on my list. Yesterday afternoon I browned 6 lbs of ground beef -- 2 for lasagna and the rest for the freezer. Last night we went to see Ordinary Angels. Since we lived in Louisville when the story took place, we were interested in seeing how the story was portrayed. There were definitely some things that were changed, but it was a good story, and it was fun to get out and go to the movies.
Today I made breakfast for DH & me: blueberry pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Then I got busy on lasagna and now have 3 8x8 pans in the freezer, plus 1 more for our dinner tonight or tomorrow. I'm getting ready to start on chicken pot pies and have everything just about ready to assemble 4 of those. Then I will need to give the kitchen counters a good wipe-down! I really wanted to do this while I was off so it will be a good feeling to check it off the list and then still have a couple days to relax with DH.
Good to hear that everybody is doing well. Birdy, I understand wanting to not get your hopes up, but you know we are all praying for success.

Elaine, sounds like you had a good time with your family yesterday. Have to treasure those times.
Jan, you are luck that you have family that want some of your things. The things I have left mine are not the least be interested. The one thing that I will probably take to my grave are my cast iron cookware. It is heavy but I will lift weights more if necessary to be able to continue to use them.
Helen, your meals sound good as usual.
Elza, great that you were able to get everything on your shopping trip. Like you I set my list up according to the route I will be taking for work so it is easy to get it done quickly. Your cooking sounds great today. Glad you enjoyed the movie yesterday. Have a good time spending time at home with DH.
Today went way to fast. I did sort of get to the laundry. It needs my attention now but think it can wait until morning. One load is dry and the other is done washing. I get sidetracked so easily my plans never work out. I did my menu for the week which I haven't been doing with just about every thing already prepared in the freezer. Then I went through what I am cooking for the Lions this month and set up a list of what I need to buy. Then it was on to the sales to see what was available for both myself and the Lions. Did pretty well can get most things this week. I needed to do it today as if I work tomorrow it is the only day that I will be out to doing shopping this week. Never did get dessert made for tonight but there is both banana bread and ice cream in the freezer if I decide I need something sweet. Dinner is basically all ready except cooking the pork and combining it with the sauce. Everything else just gets heated up in the microwave.
Enjoy your evening.
Bet

Hello, It's been a few days since I posted. I have been so busy. Last Thursday was a pot luck and I put the chicken and rice in at 2:30, as soon as I got home. I did double the amount of rice and liquid. I think my dish was too deep because at 5 it still was not done, even after turning the oven up. Bible study was at our house because the original hostess, who raises her DGD, had to play nurse to that DGD- strep throat! I heated the chicken and rice and served it. Everyone liked it and there is still some left for lunches this week.
Saturday I worked then came home for a cozy nap, then we went out to eat. It was sort of a belated Valentine's dinner I bought for DH. He got the seafood buffet. I got the fried chicken salad. I was so full and sleepy that I went to bed when I got home.
Today we did church then lunch at a Mexican place.
It is 78 and the day has been mostly cloudy. The store is coming tomorrow to install the new bathroom floor, so DH has been working at pulling up the toilet in there.
Birdy, I was elated to hear that your jaw procedure has been scheduled. I'll be in prayer that everything will go even better than expected.
DH got the pork butts that he smoked out of the freezer at Care and they are thawing. I am thinking of doing a pasta salad for a side, but may go with Suddenly Salad mixes. I have no idea of my schedule tomorrow, so don't know when I will be able to get to a grocery store. I bought 3 boxes of Oreo flavor cake mix, so will get those baked up for a dessert on Tuesday-those were on the clearance rack.
Chris, hope you will be able to have a day off tomorrow.
Waving to all!

Afternoon! Soup came out good! Will start to reheat it in a few minutes. Will have with toasted cheese...Swiss for Bill and Sharp Cheddar for me. The broth made from the turkey bones is delicious in the soup. Tasty - Your advice is most welcome about downsizing. Now that we got the 'official' word, I'm doing small jobs. It's hard to determine what I should leave for the auction folks so there are 'piles' all over the house. We live in the TV room, bedroom, kitchen, and bath! Bet - I got rid of my black cast iron years ago, but I have a bunch of Le Creuset pieces that I will auction off. Newest 'plan' is to move, auction, cleanout, then clean (oh, the dust!! especially in mom's place.) Birdy - You are in my thoughts and prayers. You have the most challenging set of circumstances of us all!! Hugs! Elza - Wow! Cooking tornado...you are filling your freezers as I am clearing mine out! Tammy - I never have cooked rice in the oven. As always, your dishes sound so delicious. Even though I just made Mexican-themed supper the other day, I know it was in no way authentic. Not many 'real' Mexican restaurants around here. Chris - When I retired in 2008, I volunteered at a school for disadvantaged middle school-aged girls. Weaned myself off quickly as the program was sub-par, and I just "let it go"! Tasty - Love to read that you are having a good time 'down here'! Jan - Low key days are so good...I even scored a not really needed nap this afternoon!!! Time got away...got to heat soup and make toasted cheese. Waving to all. Have a good evening!

Good evening, friends. I did not sleep well last night, just a few hours if I was lucky. Have been up since 4AM, on the road this morning shortly after 6. We had a great day with the girls. Looks like our next visit in two weeks will possibly them coming over here. Just got back, so no time to chat this evening. Will catch up with everyone tomorrow. Lori
