Well, I guess I'm the eccentric here. I do not like potato salad with hard potatoes inevitably strewn throughout. Therefore I usually can't buy it. Instead, I have learned to make my own with potatoes well cooked and slightly mashed with a fork after it's all mixed up. Luckily, I'm cooking only to please myself. I also use Miracle Whip + mustard + vinegar. I know Miracle Whip is controversial but I grew up with it. Uh oh, now I've made myself hungry for potato salad. I'm making up a grocery order online and always feel as if I'm carefully choosing a Christmas list of hopefuls from the Sears catalog. Actually, I think it's fun but do miss going up and down the grocery aisles. My supper tonite will be a nice big bowl of chili with the tiny little oyster crackers scattered across the top as I go. Might skip my nap. Big hugs to all.

Helen, I NEVER use Mayo in anything. I like flavor not oil. So I'm with you I only use Miracle Whip salad dressing :)

Hi. It's been a busy morning with walking, then shuffleboard then an executive board meeting. Now, this afternoon I am babysitting Shadow. I didn't go to games as she has lots of anxiety issues.
I am also making scalloped potatoes and ham for the potluck tonight.
I took a roast out for tomorrow, I will throw that, carrots, celery and potatoes in the slow cooker tomorrow as I will be taking Judy to Dr's. Appointments.
See you later.
Oh Ann I am excited for you guys.
Birdy- great seeing you posting.

Good evening as usual didn't get what I wanted done today but made some progress never did get out of the kitchen. Or I should say barely got off the computer. I had some urgent Lions work that I do once a year and of course don't remember from one year to the next so I had to look everything up for that so I could get some forms in. We sponsored two young people to go to New York State DEC summer camp for a week each year and it's a hassle jumping through the hoops of what we have to fill out then we have to send out notices through the school to parents of the age group to see if anyone wants to go then I have to get in touch with them get them on to the dec website and they have to sign their child up used to be much easier we had a piece of paper we put the kids name on it we attached the check and we sent it why do they make things so complicated but it's done. Paperwork's gone to the school to go out and it's gone to the member that does our Facebook to get it out there. Now I wait.
I did spend some time in the kitchen first off getting it cleaned up empty in the dishwasher reloading the dishwasher. I couldn't do my ice cream because I didn't have any hot fudge sauce. I now have hot fudge sauce in the refrigerator so eventually there's going to be moose track ice cream in this house. I did check out the Reese's peanut butter cups today and they're just fine tasted great. I do have dinner all prepped and ready to go into the oven when I get the urge to eat. I sort of made up my own recipe for a crustless quiche it has ham asparagus and pepper jack cheese in it. Also had a little bit of roasted peppers and garlic left in the refrigerator added the last piece of garlic to that and have some french bread ready to become garlic bread all I have to do is pop it in the oven.
Hasn't been a very nice day here it's been foggy dark however very little rain it hit 50 today and it's still 49 at 4:30.
Birdy, Very nice to see you posting again today I sure hope the weather holds off and we do not want to hear anymore about 7:00 to 11 in of snow now I do hope you understand that. But I do hope you get to your doctor's appointment and maybe start getting some answers you certainly deserve them. Glad that you get to watch the deer out your window I have them here but the only thing I see is tracks in the snow from the night before leading up to all my shrubs and etc that they have their evening snack on.
Tammy, nice that you were able to sleep in a bit today. Hope you enjoyed the open house that you were invited to today is that something new that they have businesses within the park? Sorry but your scalloped potatoes with meatballs do not sound extremely interesting to me whether they're homemade or Frozen. I didn't realize that you were dog sitting either your poor baby that she has to go and hide hopefully Pedro leaves soon.
Mamma, I have to agree with you mashed potato salad does not sound too appealing however I have to have my mail no miracle whip in this house. I do mix yellow mustard in with my mayonnaise however. Glad that you're adjusting to your mattress and getting a good night's sleep.
Jean, I agree with you that I do want my potatoes cooked too soft I don't like hard potatoes in my potato salad but I also don't want them mushy I'm just too fussy.
Lori, do you really think that that zucchini pound cake is going to last until here brother comes? Glad that you were able to get your pill down today. I don't understand the pricing that Wendy's is considering. Does it cost more to cook on Wednesday than on Friday or at 1:00 or 5:00 staff gets paid the same utilities might not use quite as many but come on let's be realistic the price is in a restaurant are gauge to include all of that. I find it frightening that schools do not require any shots for all of these things that are going around like what they thought was done with like measles and chickenpox and mumps.
Ann sounds like you pulled some frozen food for some serious cooking the rest of the week enjoy it.
Helen, so it's like making a Christmas wish to do your grocery list nowadays is it getting difficult to get what you order?
Elaine, sounds like you're getting really prepared for your dinner tomorrow since you have to take Judy to doctor's appointments I assume that will take up most of your day.
I rambled on long enough. Time to start thinking about when I'm going to start cooking dinner enjoy your evening.

Good evening. I am teaching Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing. We are doing Bridge building. I have had such a good time with them. today they all told me that they only wanted me to ever sub for them! LOL I do like them a lot. We tested their pop cycle stick and tooth pick bridges today! Laughed so much with them. I used to do these bridges with the Pre-Tech class when I taught at the Tech Center years ago and loved it then. I have read through but am too tired to respond to all. I will be at work all the rest of the week and next week by the looks of it. The instructors wife is still in the hospital and does not look good for her. So I told him I would do for him as long as he needed me to.

Bet- Dan s doing good since his meds change so we are going with it for now. And I do need the $$ to keep paying his medical ins. It went sky high on us. Almost $1000 a month now. So until he goes on medicare we need to keep this. So far I can come home and take a nap! LOL

Scalloped potatoes are in the oven. I can see Chris turning up her nose-lol. If I had never had potato salad made with mashed potatoes I suppose I would think it sounds terrible, but that is what I grew up with. I love all potato salad however, whether the mayo kind or mustard style. My mom would make lots of mashed potatoes that we would have with a meal. Then, with the leftover potatoes she would add LOTS of mustard, some miracle whip, chopped onion, chopped pickles and chopped hard cooked eggs. Chris, I'm glad you are enjoying the teaching, and that Dan's change of meds are working so well.
The open house was fine. Chamber of Commerce was there, and there was a ribbon cutting. They served some bite size brownies and mini cupcakes from our local bakery. The brownies were really dry, but the mini cupcake was delicious. I chose chocolate with orange colored icing. I believe the icing was almond flavor. This is the first ribbon cutting that I know of in the park. We only have the bakery, and now the small engine repair.
DH was asked by nurse Judy about keeping Pedro for a couple weeks. I love dogs so was OK with it. I thought he was a chihuahua. He has settled in pretty well now, but I do not wish to keep him.
I had not heard that about Wendy's. We have a new one in town, maybe open a year or 18 months. I went to the drive through and got 2 combo meals plus one shake and the total was about $27.00. I thought that was way overpriced so I don't think we have ever gone back, but I do like their burgers.
Had not heard about a measle outbreak anywhere. Soon chicken pox will be going around.
Time to go and make some slaw. I used half a bag with dinner last night, so am using the remainder as regular coleslaw. Sleep well friends.
Edited to add: Pedro is going bye bye tomorrow. DH just told me, he does not know where exactly.
Also, the fires in Texas are NE of Amarillo, pretty far from town. Thank you for asking.

Okay, (nose in air at Tammy!Hahah!) I love mashed potato salad. I only use mayo. My mom used Miracle Whip salad dressing and I hated it.
Dan just turned 64 so we have a year before he can go on Medicare and we will do the same as I have with United Health Care. We have already talked to them and they will add hm on with me (sort of) But for the time being we are shelling out the almost $1000 a month for his insurance right now. I don't dare lose it.
