Good evening. We have 30% chance of rain tonight and 50% chance tomorrow. I pray that we get it. Some of you who finally got rain said your brown grass turned green again. The inch we a week ago didn't do a thing for my grass, it is still brown and crunchy but the weeds in the lawn are healthy, green and growing. I was so mad today. I went to pick up my monthly thyroid medication and it was $40 more than what it normally is. They called the pharmaceutical place for me and they said my insurance provider changed their plan beginning Aug. 1 and I told him the plan I signed was good until Jan. 1. They told me to call my insurance provider when I got home and I did just that and lit into them like I haven't done to anyone in years. I told them I have 5 more months on my plan and if they think they can change it on me without me consenting to it they will have a law suit on their hands. I did not get my meds, too pissed and stubborn to pay it, so I was fretting on what I would do. Three hours later my pharmacy called me to let me know that my insurance provider called them and told them to charge me what they were before for the rest of the year, whew. My pharmacist said he was as upset with them as I was. I am so looking forward to this next 3 days of temps in the low 70s. I bought plenty of Deet spray and plan on getting something done out in the gardens. Soon I will be shouting with glee from the rooftops

Good evening. As planned, I only went outside today to take care of the hummingbirds. I'm really tired and really want to get into my pajamas for the night, but I realized that I really ought to water the pots before dark tonight. Guess I have to go get my socks and shoes back on so I can finish up what I should have done earlier. I hate it when I forget stuff like this!
I spoke with DSis#4 today about DM moving in with us all. It sounds like she is on board with the idea. She likes it much better than when DStepD was ill and she had to go stay at our parents' house for 24 hours on and 24 hours off while DM recovered from her heart surgery. I'm not sure how DSis#5 feels about it, but we can run it by her if DM will even consider the idea. If she agrees, great. If not, I guess we'll all have DM 4x a year instead of three. It's not a big deal.
My energy tank is running on empty since I wasn't able to nap this afternoon after my terrible night's sleep. I think I am going to be sleeping early tonight. DH has to get up early again tomorrow to take the regular care provider for our friend's mother to the bus stop, so it will be another early morning around here. I think we'll both be out like a light before too long.
Kathy, that stinks about your insurance plan changing like that on you! I'm glad you complained and got things worked out. An extra $40 a month sprung on you like that had to be a huge shock.
Well, I guess I better go outside and get the plants watered. It's getting dark earlier and earlier. I'd rather not be out playing in the dark tonight.
Have a good night!

Well, we got rain this morning. (1") Also, got lots of wind. So today hubby & I spent all day picking up limbs, he mowed, I blew off driveway, sidewalk, carport & patio. And now I can hardly move. Really enjoyed the day but am very tired now. After rain grass has turned green a little. The brown places are dead & no coming back for them. Can't decide if I'm going to overseed this fall or not. Lots of work & money just to see it die so fast in summer when we have very little rain. We have so many trees & no watering system it is very hard to get grass to do good. But, I say this every year & when fall gets here I go get seed. Just keep trying. Have a great evening, take care. Happy Gardneing, nanatnzone6

Good Evening everybody.
I got all my back yard beds weeded & cleaned up as of today. Of course they will need it again in a couple more weeks. But they look much better. I even got the grass cut. Now I need to start on the front beds again & my Daylily bed is a total disaster.
Working & running errands tomorrow. They are saying rain showers but who knows.
Kathy, I read somewhere the other day that if the grass gets really dry for an extended period it goes dormant & no amt. of water will make it green again till next Spring.
Good for you for going off on your insurance people. Mine is through the school board my DH retired from. Every Fall we get what is called a re-enrollment pkg. It lists all the different types of plans offered & their cost. That is your one time a year chance to switch to a different plan if you want to. I don't but I always check the cost of the one I have to see if anything has changed. No change last Fall so I continued paying the same amt every month as previously. In June I get an e-mail from the 3rd party that handles the insurance & it tells me to go to their site for an important message. I've never gotten an e-mail from them before so I did what it said only to find out my insurance has been cancelled. No letter, no notice, no nothing from anybody Turns out the insurance premium was raised in Jan by $3.25 & I didn't realize it. I never noticed the difference on the bill as I wasn't expecting anything. So for a grand total of $ 19.50 (6 x $3.25) they cancelled my insurance without any warning at all. I'm thinking, well OK, I'll just send the the difference with my next pmt. Noooo, the rep I'm talking to has to run that by her boss & I might have to file an appeal. An appeal for less than $20 !! And I've been paying you for almost 12 yr. You've got to be kidding I finally ended up calling HR at the school board & they got it straightened out. But like you, that enrollment agreement in the Fall is supposed to be good for a year. I don't see how they can change it 3 months later with no notice.
Karen, I hope things work out with your Mom. If she gets mad at one of you do you suppose she will demand to be taken to another sister's house?

Good evening. I had a fairly productive day despite the heat and humidity. This afternoon Lily stopped by for a short visit. We sat on the front porch and had a glass of lemonade and tried to stay cool. She said to tell all of you "hello".
About the time Larry got home tonight a pop-up thunderstorm came through. The winds were 60MPH+. W only got ½ rain out of it, but I see many plants blown around and tipped over. I am leaving them because there is another thunderstorm on it's way. I am sure somewhere got hail because the temps dropped from 93º to 66º in less than 15 minutes. I shut the puter off and am about to do that again before the next one rolls through.
Kathy...glad that the squeaky wheel got oiled...good for you for standing up for yourself! Hope you get the meds before you run out.
Stanette...I bet you are tired tonight! My Dad always said that the best sleeping pill was a hard days work...and sounds like you and DH both had that!
Karen...I do hope you DM agrees to the new arrangements...but don't you have 4 sisters?
Gayle...sounds like you also had a productive day. Glad the HR person got things squared away for you. Isn't this insurance a major headache.
I'd better get off here and shut down. See you all in the morning. Charlene

Karen...I do hope you DM agrees to the new arrangements...but don't you have 4 sisters? Actually, I have 5 sisters, Charlene. I'm the oldest of four girls on my mom's side of the family. My father adopted my step-mother's two daughters who are slightly older than me, but I almost never hear from the one I would call DSis#1. DSis#2, I do see from time to time. DB is from my dad's side of the family. DSis#3 would be the first sister down from me on DM's side of the family, so it would just be DSis#3, #4, #5 if she agrees to it, and me to have DM living with us. It's confusing ... I know. Was I about as clear as on mud on this? LOL!!!

Just stopped to say hi. We had a short rainstorm just before noon today. So the lawn didn't get mowed after it rained. It dried off by late afternoon but DS didn't do it, so maybe tomorrow if it doesn't rain. It is warm and muggy, though, tonight so fans, etc. are whirling around here. I am ready for bed and going to do a bit of reading now.
DH had eye exam at 5:30 PM, so I fixed some egg salad, and some tunafish, and figured he could have sandwiches when he got home with some tomatoes I bought at veggie stand this afternoon. Bought small cukes, and peaches and nectarines, too. I love the tomato sandwiches now and am going to make a tomato/green bean salad one of these days soon. That is good summer salad when tomatoes are in season.
Sounds like all are busy working in yards/flower beds. Today I worked on laundry. I have a lot of cutting back of flowers, and moving some, etc.
Our car insurance was just raised up a class so DH called to see why. We were told the insurance industry raises it when over age 86 driver in household. No reason other than age....guess they think can't drive because someone is aging....he is safe driver, but they need to find a way to get more money out of people. Our homeowner's is with the same agent/package. The insurances are always trying to find ways to get more money, not to save the customer any. Pretty discouraging.

Like many of you, hubby and I spent a chunk of today working outside. It was warm but not super hot and not overly humid. After rain on Saturday and again on Tuesday, brown has started turning green again - but it did need the second day of rain for that to happen. So hubby used the ride-on and cut grass while I weeded flower beds then got into the fruit garden too. Later in, I took a chance and moved a few plants - just s few that are not too big. I should be able to keep them watered with gray water. Time will tell. Have a good night.

Good evening everyone. My day was spent volunteering at our church's thrift shop this morning then canning peaches this afternoon. This evening we did some work outside. Seems we have little trees growing everywhere. I tried to pull them out but they were too big. We cut them off, but that means they'll grow back. We are supposed to have rain tomorrow. Our town has their fall fun days this weekend. Hoping for good weather. It should be cooler than it was today. I hope everyone has a good evening.
