Make-Ahead Breakfast Casserole-cooktocook Serves:6 Chill Time:1 hour Bake:45 minutes
Made this last week for DH and I. Really fast and easy to put together. We loved it and although you don't need the maple syrup, we found it delicious with just a light drizzle.----Lori
Ingredients: 6 frozen waffles, cut into 1-inch cubes (I used 8) 1 (9.6-ounce) package frozen sausage crumbles, thawed (I cooked/crumbled/used an entire roll of breakfast sausage, maybe 12-ounce 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, divided 6 eggs 1-1/4 cups milk 1/2 tsp. salt maple syrup (optional)
Directions: 1--Coat an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray. Layer half of waffles on bottom of prepared dish. Top with half of sausage and 1/2 cup of cheese. Repeat layer. 2--In a medium bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and salt until well combined. Pour egg mixture evenly over the waffle mixture. 3--Cover baking dish with plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 1 hour, or 1 hour. (I did overnight) 4--Preheat oven to 350*F. 5--Bake 45 to 50 minutes, or until eggs are set in center. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve.
