There has been quite a bit of interest in a birding thread here. Maybe if you have some time you could do a little something with that. We used to have a Birding Board on B&B and many posted pictures and discussed the birds they were seeing and also followed the migration of many.

I'd love for there to be more birding talk on here. I missed that after B&B shut down. Are you just talking about a thread, Bette, or would you be willing to add a separate section like you first did for Midwest? Just curious about your position on this. My fear is that a single thread is going to get lost. Could you maybe do another poll to gauge interest in a separate section?

Bette,
I'd be delighted. You folks have to be warned, though, that I'm an honest-to-goodness, card-carrying bird brain with a severe habit. For quite a while, I was doing semi-professional nature photography with an emphasis on birds. I give PowerPoint programs on my photography for many different groups including garden clubs. I've lightened up on the photography mainly because access to some of my favorite spots has been interrupted by habitat change, etc.
But my good birding friend and I love nothing better than driving the back roads of central NY and the southern Adirondacks. We try to pick very rural, seasonal roads so that we're not a hazard since we drive very, very s-l-o-w-l-y and stop often! People are amazed at how many birds we can spot that way--she's unable to do much walking and it works very well. A car makes an excellent blind since most birds are accustomed to them.
A separate section might be a good idea. I'm afraid that it could be buried in regular posts. It would be easy for people to bounce back and forth if they want to. That way, different topics would be easier to find, too. Just my 2 cents.
I won't be online for a few days while I work on a project deadline so don't give up on me if you don't hear back from me for a few.

I just would love to continue hearing about wonderful birds and butterflies in this board. I've learned and enjoyed all the info and pics on nature right along with gardening.

I am not a big bird person, but I would love to learn more and you sound like the perfect person to teach me, Birdy! I love looking at the pictures. I have learned from this board that like flowers and butterflies, there are different ones in different areas of the US and Canada. Look forward to what my unfold with this new thread or forum.
