Good morning everyone. It is 63º and going to upper 80s later, but I am guessing we will be in the 90s again. Yesterday's upper 80s, was 93º. We've had more days in the 90s than we usually have all summer. My zone 4 perennials are not liking it very well and neither am I.
The cleaning job yesterday wasn't as bad as anticipated since the carpenter is not done yet. Once he is done I'll have my work cut out for me. I was only there for 1 hour since I just had to do a couple of rooms.
I got several geraniums transplanted yesterday and actually planted a few right in the ground where some annuals have succumbed to the heat/drought. Once again, much of my day/evening was watering. I shudder to think what my water bill will be for this month.
This morning I will clean up the kitchen and maybe run the vacuum since today is lunch with friends. After they leave, I have to meet with one of the gals from our class reunion committee.
Melissa...we were kind of waiting for eachother this morning again, weren't we? LOL
Happy Tuesday to all.

Good morning. 64 and headed to 88. Yuck! But at least theres a nice breeze right now so hopefully that keeps blowing. I have windows open now but will need to put the ac on later for sure. Three hot days then back to more seasonal temps.
Yesterday morning was spent watering. Got all my pots and beds done. As I was watering a work truck came up the driveway. The guy said they were clearing some utility right aways and wanted to talk about my ditch. We walked down to discuss what they would be doing. One of the things was clearing any brush and small trees. I had a few small pines and balsams that had popped up beyond the area I have planted and some type of brush. He said they would come thru with a brush hog and I asked if I could hand cut any brush or trees myself and he agreed. It really didn’t take me too long. They will still come to cut the branches from the trees along the edge that are encroaching towards the power line but will do that by hand. It is what it is I just hope they don’t trample too much in there. We talked about them staying along the edge and the guy brought the crew back to go over my property and what to do. I guess going forward I will mow that area in the fall or spring to prevent any future growth like I do in my ditch area. I also dug out 5 small trees I want to try to transplant. For now they are in a wheelbarrow with a layer of compost under them and will keep them well watered until it cools off and I can plant them.
Today I need to go get groceries and concessions food. I will work concessions at 4:30. I need to invest in a new sprinkler as mine doesn’t want to rotate any more. Its had a wired on top and a broken leg a while already so not a shocker to need to replace it. I didn’t do laundry yesterday and since it will be so hot today I will probably spend time inside so that will ne a chore I work on.
Karen-What a great hummer experience!!
Gayle-Glad db1 is helping you out.
Marlene-Good you got fresh strawberries. They said the u pick up here are going to have a big loss due to the drought.
Guess I better get moving if I want to accomplish anything. Have a great day.

I have to be brief. My morning has passed me by without my realizing it! I got lost in history and lost track of time. I was responding to an email from someone that contacted our museum's parent organization regarding a book they want to write about a subject who came to our area from NY. They were seeking information, but the site manager is getting ready to retire at the end of the month and isn't in a position to deal with the request for info. She asked me to see about it. It took me forever to respond, but I managed it this morning. I'd love to stay home and keep looking into this, but I have a funeral to attend. I'm sure I mentioned this a while back. The brother of one of DSon's friends as well as the DB of our godchildren's father was hit by a car and ended up dying from the accident. The funeral is this morning. This has been pretty hard to fathom, but last night at the funeral home when I first saw DSon's friend I got hit harder than I expected. I have been haunted by his brokenhearted face when I saw him. I know what it feels like to lose a brother, but he is way too young to have to do this now. It's just soul-crushing. I am taking solace in the fact the funeral is taking place at my church - my place of peace. I need it right now. Anyway, I have to shower and get going. Time isn't not on my side today! Have a good day.

Hot and humid again. Temps will be in the 90's for the next few days. My heart goes out to the people in Mississippi who experienced a devasting tornado. Marlene

Good afternoon,
We are cloudy & 76* & that is supposed to be our high today but I doubt it will be.
Rain is to move in overnight & into tomorrow. Actually it looks like rain any minute but I have the sprinkler going just in case nothing wet shows up.
I've spent the morning moving the sprinkler around & trying to get through to various HUD offices. Either busy or voice mail is all I've gotten. Left a message with one office & they replied that they don't handle what I was asking about & gave me yet another # to call (#5)
Let me go move the sprinkler gain & I'll be back.
Melissa, at least they asked you about the ditch rather than just bushwhack right through it.
My neighbor just "snuck" over with a potted Trailing Vinca & left it on the pad by the garage door. I caught her/ LOL. I asked her if she would be interested in joining us & I need to give her the link . Like right now.Done
Other than phone calls & moving the sprinkler nothing exciting happening

Good afternoon.
Have clothes in the washer. Just got home from my son's house. Fed and watered the cats, watered the plants and am happy to say the plants on the front porch look much better. I cleaned the litter box and then left to come home. Every where you go they are working on the road.
The temperature is 80° which is to be the high today. It is cloudy but no rain in sight.
Have a good day.

Our main artery heading south out of town is being closed down every night between 9pm and 6am through the rest of the week. That closes a bridge and will really inconvenience a lot of people.

Didn't make it here this morning. I had quite a hole in my night and had to be out early for canning so when I did get up there was no time to post. Once I got back home, I got the phone call to arrange interviews (by phone) and blood tests ready for my upcoming surgery. Good to have these in place! I made a small test batch of pickled sweet onions yesterday and took a jar with me this morning for the group to try. I'm not a great pickle person but surprisingly enough everyone agreed that we need to make them for the market. They just devoured them at coffee time. And they're really simple to make. We are having a week of lovely weather, sunny and warm - verging on hot (by my standards at least) and a few days with no rain in the forecast so i'm trying to take advantage of it.
G'night 🙂.
