Good morning everyone. It is 65º and going to upper 80s later. Yesterday our predicted upper 80s turned out to be 94º...uggghhh...too hot for my liking. We are having July weather in May, so hopefully we will have May weather in June or July, although the prediction for the month of June is hot and dry. We can't control the weather, can we?
Yesterday I worked inside and out until my friends came for lunch. In the late afternoon I gave 3 people a ride to the neighboring town to a funeral visitation. He was a mutual friend of all of us and passed away at 62 from cancer.
I need to get outside this morning while it's still cooler and do some serious watering. Between the heat and the wind yesterday, many plants are very wilted.
Happy Wednesday to all. Charlene

Good morning. It was 51°over night and to hit 87°today. Too hot too early. I have been out and just finished tilling the kitchen garden getting it ready to plant tomatoes once the sun is off it. I just need to rake it to get it level. Next I will head down to the lower raised beds and get the manure in them and tilled. Will be planting tomatoes in one and peppers it the other. Need to rig up some sort of fencing also until I fell like and have time to dig 2 fence post holes and get the set. Will do some weed wacking while I am down there. That sun is hot. It is only 61° and when I came in I was soaked with sweat.
Have a great day.

Good morning. 62 with a high of 86. Like Bet and Charlene it is too hot too early. This is really hard on the spring blooming plants. We got just enough rain that I probably don’t have to water today.
Yesterday was another hopping day in concessions grossing another $1600. Dh and I had called in some reinforcements to come work at 3:30 so we could transition them in so we could leave to watch the girls game at 4. What a game. This was the 4th time we faced this team, and we lost the 3 previous times. We just played them last week Wed to get dropped to the elimination bracket. They lost to a team Saturday so now we had to face off yet again. We ended up getting behind 7-1 and headed in to the 7th inning. We got hot bats and ended up tying the game! We held them to no runs at their at bat and headed in to the 8th inning. One of our girls hit one over the fence to put us up 8-7. We held them again and won the game! Once again it was an unexpected win. We then had to play another team. We had the lead 3-1 but then had a rain delay due to lightening. We seemed to loose our momentum then and our pitcher had several walks and we ended up loosing 7-3. Our season is over. That team will go on to face an undefeated team to go to state, and would have to beat them twice, which isn’t gonna happen. Lol (they lost to them by 10 runs yesterday)
Today I have nothing I absolutely have to do and of that I am happy. I slept terrible, with my best stretch being 11-1:40. Then I was up 3 hours in the middle of the night. Then had very interrupted sleep from then until I got up. I do have some laundry and cleaning I should do, as well as run for a few groceries. I guess I do have to make a double batch of puppy chow for dds banquet tonight. We have that at 5:30.
I need more coffee and honestly maybe a nap already. I feel like a zombie! Lol
Have a good day.

Good morning, I was here earlier and thought I had posted but I guess I am losing what little is left of the brain. Did not sleep well last night so that could be some of it. Finally went to bed at 5:30 and got up at 8:20. Could not think what the matter was then remembered that I had ice cream yesterday. I have to watch how much I eat at a time or the body doesn't like it. Won't make me quit eating ice cream or at least not yet. Had to go off chocolate for a year because my body said no you are not eating anymore of that. Need to work on lunch so have a good day all.

At least it is morning for another 2 minutes. It'll be afternoon for sure by the time I am done. I am going to add to the choir of voices lamenting it being too hot too early. Sheesh! We are on day 2 of our 5 day stretch of 90s. It's going to be a long week! I've been to the museum already today. I always think I prefer going in the mornings as opposed to the afternoons like we used to do, but on Wednesday mornings I waffle on that notion. LOL! By this time of the day, though, I see the wisdom. No starting and stopping and starting again to the day. Whatever I decide to start now, I can finish. The garbage was just picked up, so chances are good that I will dump the stuff I have been collecting in the front garage. After that, I can begin filling the small trash cans again. Depending on how warm the garage is, I may end up watering and dumping the trash I've collected in the tote before bringing in papers to sort through for recycling or destroying. I can sort papers in a cool room way easier than out in a hot garage. I've made decent enough progress that if I have to hold off on the actual cleaning for a while it won't be too bad. Really pretty foxglove, Charlene. Losing friends so young is becoming more of a thing the older I get. Today one of my best friends would have been 69 had she not died from breast cancer years ago. The losses make a person realize time is precious. Bet, don't overheat yourself with the sunshine and that high temp for the day. Working early and/or following the shade is definitely the way to go! Wow, Melissa, what a softball day you had yesterday! Are you sad or glad for the season to have ended now? Puppy chow for the banquet sounds like a great thing to take! It'll surely be a popular choice. Your comment about your body's reaction to foods made me snicker, Carol. I have developed a food sensitivity to chocolate, but that isn't going to keep me from eating it. When asked about allergies by medical folks, I often will tell them about my "problem" with chocolate. I sneeze at least 3 times when I have it - sometimes. That isn't enough of a reaction to get me to quit eating it. Other severe symptoms, sure, I'd cut it out. I can live with a few sneezes here and there, though. Well, I suppose I should find something to eat for lunch before deciding what to do the rest of the day. Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday.

Good afternoon,
I've been busy running errands & paying bills most of the day,
Went grocery shopping, mainly so my car would have something to eat. Not much chance of him starving but he sure acts like it.
We were overcast this morning but no rain & no wind. Sun finally appeared about mid afternoon. At least I think that is what it is. It's been so long I've forgotten what it looks like.
Started out at 66* reached 96 but no complaints from me. Maybe later in the season. But right now, I'm loving it. We dropped from that to a current reading of 79.
First thing I did when I got home, after unloading the car & putting everything away was feed the starving cat, then I loaded the dishwasher & got it going. Next was deciding where & how to put my gates back up & I ended up getting those in place. Fairly easy & didn't take long.
These were part of the gated arbor I used to have leading into the back yard until the last hurricane that dropped a huge pine tree in my yard & right on top of the arbor. I was able to save the gates & have gone back & forth on putting them up & back down again.
OK, this is short but I haven't had a bite to eat & I need to go find something for myself & feed the babies (again).
Oh, Charlene, your seeds arrived today. TY. I saw the notation about soaking them. I have never done that. Hmmm. Since I'm going to see if I can get a few started in a couple of pots for this yr, I might try that.
Catch y'all later.

Good evening. I can't believe the temps some of you are having. We are warmer than we have been but not to the 80s yet. Tomorrow we will hit low 80s though. We had more rain overnight but not much. I forgot to check but looked like no more than a quarter of an inch. We were talking at work today about the possibility of it being a really hot summer when that heat does come, so I guess we need to enjoy the lower temps while we can. Two more days. While it will be different not heading to work next week after 33 years going to the same road each day, it will be nice. When I started I lived in a neighborhood not far from work but took my kids to daycare first. I've moved twice since then but still worked on the same road. There are only 2 companies on that road so there won't be a reason for me to go that way after Friday. To answer the question about what my response was to the boss asking me about how long to wait before they call me back, I just told them that I won't be moving away and they have my number. If course I didn't say if I definitely would come but a day or so a week for a few weeks won't be bad. I know I've mentioned my replacement getting on my last nerve but I heard today that I'm not the only one. And my officemate and I hadn't mentioned how we felt to anyone else. These other coworkers were picking at my officemate saying that when I leave this new worker will be moved to my desk. Then they told him how he has driven them crazy. It will all work out but I just thought I was being overly critical.
That is a really pretty foxglove.

Good night all! 73° now. The high was 83°. The day started with aerobics. Not taking Pastor's mother for her hair I've had to work in my grocery shopping another time so did that today. On the way home there was such a downpour I couldn't see to drive. Arrived home to find not a drop fell here.
Put groceries away and checked out the gardens. Critters, butterflies and birds have been fun to watch this past week. My passion vines are totally wiped out now. read where copper wire wound around a stick and shoved into the ground can help plants to spring back faster. I may have to look into that.
When I started this it was storming with thunder. It sounded like a lot of rain but is subsiding now. I've been dozing on and off in this chair.. I don't think I'll make the 11:00 news. Chicago PD is on but I wasn't watching it. I'll leave it on. If I haven't fallen back to sleep, I'll head off to bed.
Have a great sleep all!
