Good evening and GOOD GRIEF!!! The wind I thought was bad earlier got worse as the day went on. I'm a bit hesitant to go out for Bible Study tonight, but I am going to give it a try. If I move quickly, maybe there won't be gusts as I cross the parking lot. Fingers crossed on that!
I'm so grateful we went to vote when we did. Both because of the wind not being as bad as it is now and because we had a very nice thing happen to us. A firefighter that we know offered to move my van closer to the entry way of the school building where we vote because I had to park far away from the doors. The parking lot isn't big and it being a school day, a lot of the spots were filled already. I parked where I could find a spot and we walked. On our way, we encountered the father of two of my former students who is a longtime firefighter in our community. He is the one who offered to go get the van and move it closer when a spot became available close by. What a godsend! DH was pretty tipsy on the walk to the school. I was so thankful PJ was with us and that DH stayed upright. The county elections board changed things on us again so I wasn't all that sure DH was going to be able to follow all the steps he needed to for his vote to count. He did, though, with the guidance of some poll workers to tell him where his ballot went in the voting machine and casting it when done. Someone was gathering signatures for getting something else on the ballot in the fall. He wanted to sign that but struggled a bit. Hopefully the election board accepts his initials where he had to change things. Doing his civic duty is important to DH, so I am glad he was able to do it this time. I am not sure how much longer he will be able to do that, though.
When we got home, I worked out in the garage. The desk looks like I actually pay attention to things around here. DH thought I was freezing out there, but it actually was fine. I put on one of his old denim shirts and got to work. Plenty got thrown away that should have been pitched ages ago. I had to clean up a pile of BOSS remnants that mystified me. I don't know how a critter got to the seed or why they chose the corner they did to eat the seed. This will take some investigation to see if I have a hole in a tub or garbage can I didn't know I had, but I won't do that until it is warmer than today. It has stayed, as promised, in the low 40s with horrible wind chills for May.
Bet, I have big issues with DH not wanting light in the family room. It is sadly why I spend so much time away from him during the day. I NEED light. Molly used to call it being solar powered. That is definitely me. I regret not being in the same room with DH more, but I can't do closed in and dark like he seems to need. Besides, he is often engrossed in his computer or TV. I don't think he misses me all that much. He was proud, though, this morning and wanted credit for opening the extra blind for my plants. This for better or for worse stuff is getting tough, and I expect it will only get worse. Oh well. As any of you widows can attest to, there will come a time I will want his ornery butt back no matter what.
Well, Mr. Ornery just reminded me that I have to head to church now if I want to talk with the Director of Evangelization about greeting - and I do. Hope the day was good to everyone!
